We loved staying here! They put us in a tiny room with two tall guys and a big dog. We were really disappointed. They won’t move us to a bigger room because we entered the room, ridiculous!

the bath towels were so old and thin. It was like rags. it is ashamed because of this i cannot come back nor will i recommend the hotel to people. :(=

The hotel was super nice! The staff were all very friendly and helpful. For my wife and I, the Grand Stark has supplanted another 'hip' hotel in Portland (on Stark across the water in the Pearl) as our go-to when we visit Portland. We love that we can walk to excellent restaurants, bars, and music venues from the Grand Stark. An on-site restaurant/bar is a must, and the Little Bitter Bar (serves food from the Grand Amari) was perfect. We will definitely be back.

There was no chair with a back to it to sit at a table and work. There was also this high pitched whine or ringing that was there most of the time. I have ringing in my ears frequently and this definitely wasn't all in my head! I swear! I would have loved more places like drawers or shelves to unpack my clothes.

Loved my stay at the Hotel Grand Stark. Modern, updated comfort with old charm. My room was beautiful and well equipped. Expect some noise from the street, nothing unusual for urban Portland. I also ejoyed the whiskey bar off the lobby where they made an amazing old fashioned.

Construction noise at a building next to the hotel woke us up around 7:00 am. A police siren on the street woke us up at 3:00 am. The hotel itself was very nice and had character.

This is a beautiful boutique hotel within walking distance of Burnside bridge in the West and many cafe options on the East . Rooms are modern , clean and have beautiful decor . Bar offer very yummy small plates and many drink options . Front desk staff was very helpful with local information . Overall a gem in the area of Portland

Very clean hotel with a hip vibe. Everything about our stay was wonderful and we found plenty of things to do within walking distance. The only thing to note is that it was very noisy outside during the night (no fault of the hotel) so bring earplugs or a sound machine if you’re a light sleeper.

I wanted to love it but sadly it was a horrible nights sleep. It was as if I was sleeping with my windows open in NYC - I could hear everything happening outside all night long.

Couldn’t get the AC in room to work correctly and the engineer was not available to fix it. Was offered different room but I wasn’t available to switch due to other engagements. Staff is very friendly

Not great. Lots of broken odds and ends, terrible mechanical design ( my room was freezing, poorly insulated windows meant it was not only cold but being street facing it was really loud most the night. The hip factor just doesnt make up for all the cut corners.

Staff couldn't be bothered, unfriendly environment. Faucet knobs falling apart. Empty lobby, no service, "computers are down" at checkout. Awful.

Good stay
Service was excellent. I was surprised with a small bottle of champagne to celebrate my birthday. A personalized note from the staff was such a lovely thought. Room was clean. Location was pretty good. Walk to Moda center was not too bad at all. The room itself was very unique. Bed was comfortable. The only negative was the set up of the room itself. I understand it’s not really something that can be changed. However, the bed was in the center of the room, making it feel kind of awkward. A little less private too. The window was very small and had shutters on the inside making it difficult for natural light to enter the room, which is something that I personally look for in hotel rooms. There was no hair dryer. However, the espresso machine was a nice touch and the decoration and style of the room and hotel in general was very cool and aesthetically pleasing. All in all, a very good stay. Just some less than ideal features.

Beds comfortable and rooms cute. Area not ideal to find at night especially as a woman on her own. Valet parking was not available when I arrived late - front desk allow me to park directly outside the door, I was not comfortable leaving my car on the street in that area but it was the only option. property was advertised as having breakfast included. Breakfast consisted of coffee in the lobby and day old croissants

The location of this hotel is great for walkability within northeast Portland and the look of the hotel is nice. Unfortunately our room was dirty - empty cans left in the mini fridge, no body wash in the shower, sticky spot on the floor, sheets were dirty, etc. and the hotel itself was extremely loud. The floors are old wood floor and you can hear everyone walking and closing doors all night long. It is next to some construction as well, which was not advertised. Our bathroom also didn’t have a sink in it… you had to walk around the room to use the sink and mirror after showering or using the bathroom. I don’t recommend the hotel based on our stay.

Really cute hotel, nicely atmosphere. The stag was very friendly. It’s at a convenient area for restaurants and other things near downtown. However, there is only street parking or valet parking which costs an additional fee. Also, granted it was during the winter storm but the heater in my room was not sufficient. Even at the highest setting it was very cold. Otherwise I enjoyed my stay.

The staff were warm and welcoming, they did their best to accomodate early check-in with the storm ongoing and tried to continuously keep rooms warm and comfortable. I believe, due to the age of the building, the rooms were not well-insulated enough to stave off all of the cold, but the comfortable bed and abundant blankets certainly made up for it!

Great boutique style hotel. Walked to dinner, passing a few homeless people and tent areas, but overall this is a great place to stay. Comfortable bed, great shower, nice lobby and bar area.
