Listen, I love Motel 6's not only for the price, but I like being able to pull my car right up to my hotel room door. But not all Motel 6's are equal. I expect and do not criticize Motel 6's to be a little worn, maybe with missing towel racks and cigarette burns in the bed cover. But the reason I rated the Motel 6 in St. Joseph lower is because they seem to be housing homeless or low-income people. I do not have a problem with helping the less fortunate, but the room was not very clean, the flooring was broken and loose, and the folks next door smoked, so my room smelled like smoke. The floor was filthy. There was constant noise from the other inhabitants, and while I like dogs, theirs whined when left alone for the day. Perhaps the management should segregate their populations. There was a long hair and what looked like shampoo blobs left in the bathtub, and when I used the one washcloth provided to wipe it down, I discovered the washcloth had brown stains. If I stayed there again I would bring my own bathroom cleaner. One good thing - the water there is HOT and comes out powerfully, like a massager!!

The bedding was stained. There were stains on the walls and the tub looked dirty. The door did not close completely on the bottom. We left within hours of checking in

In the first room I had, I found 3 live cockroaches running around the room. In the second, I found hair on the bedspread and piss on the toilet. I will never stay again. I recommend anyone thinking about staying to go somewhere else.

Place was a dump not worth $90 a night. I wouldn’t pay $30 a night. The one room had a basketball sized hole in the wall from the outside and it was all the way through into the room

the staff is very kind and helpful but this motel 6 is terrible. It is disgusting, there is stains in the bed covers, pillows, and sheets, every piece of furniture is broken bad the ceiling has stains that resemble blood staines the room smells horrible. i booked a non smoking room and when i got here there were none available so noe im supposed to sleep here but i can barely sleep. There is roaches in my room if it wasn't because i am in such a tight budget and i would leave immediately. It looks like there was a giant fight in this room and the bathroom door got kixked in and the furniture destroyed and punched. the bathtube is has used soap bars in it

I called to confirm my reservation and to make sure we would be getting a king sized bedroom. The lady confirmed over the phone, but refused to give me her name or any of the names of the employees there. When my guest got to the hotel, he stated they were put into a different room than reserved. Said there was stains and watermarks all over the linens. Soap from previous user was still in the shower, bathrooms were dirty. They also got a double bed room and not a king. He stated there were suspicious characters in the parking lot and made him uneasy about staying there, but was too tired to do anything about it at that moment. This is the worst experience we’ve had at a hotel in a long time. Also, Expedia states it was $0 to rent because of my points and they ended up charging me $109. I won’t be recommending/using this hotel ever again.

It was a convenient location but the property is dirty, doesn’t meet minimum motel standards. There were cockroach.. the towels were smaller, no hair dryer and dirty as well. We were looking for non smoking room and the heater spreads all the dirt to the room.

They didn’t have blankets and it’s March! The place was a mess! The person behind the desk was inconsiderate and incompetent. Toilet didn’t flush and water all over the floor. We left immediately and was not issued a refund. The f you want to sleep next to “business women” and a “private pharmacy” go ahead and get stay at this dilapidated manure heap!

There is nothing that will ever make us stay there. Dirty, unmaintained. Door was not able to completely locked and secured. Multiple cigarette burns on most surfaces. It smelled of sewage and nicotine. Mini fridge did not work at all and there were multiple vertical lines burned into the tv screen.

The floor boards in my room are not nailed to the floor and they create a tripping hazard. The room was clean for the most part, but the room needs to be in better condition and it needs to have more amenities in the room.

Check in was horrible I did not want my card to be charged until I was checking out and I was not told anything different. We waited 20 minutes For 4 other people to check in at 3 o'clock, the entire procedure was not explained very well at all. I noticed a big hole in the ceiling above the tub area.Then the last straw was seeing a bug(Roach!) crawling up the wall! I demanded to have my money return to my card and allow us to leave immediately!

It was duty. The toilet had a layer of black stain. And the beds and pillows were not comfortable. They said that the reason was they were under a new ownership and renovations.

I travel frequently and am not fussy. However, this place is GROSS. I saw cockroaches crawling over the night stand and sink area, floors were nasty, there were 2 holes in the bathroom door that had been covered with pieces of notebook paper and tape, a hole in the wall next to the bed, it smelled, one bedspread was stained (2nd bed was okay), and it was so drafty I stuffed towels around the door and still had to wear extra clothes to keep warm. I am leaving my first-ever 1 star review. Do not stay here-this place needs to be demolished!

Not very clean
Toilet was not properly seated so it rocked back and forth on floor when you sat on it. Lots of trash all over parking lot and two big overflowing trash cans right outside door to room. Room was very dark. Killed a cockroach. Bed was decent although it had no headboard of any kind and was just leaned up against a wall that had tape and stuff on it. Didn't expect much for price of room but certainly did expect a bit more than we got.

First we no heat in the room! Then we had to pack up and move to another room. Stuff is falling apart, the matresses were well used to the point you sank in. Was not comfortable!

This place should be condemned. This be removed from your wed site. I would not stay here if it was free. Everything was out order. No remote for the tv, smoke alarm chirping. They had to remove it to get it stop. Dump!!

There were cockroaches in the bathtub and dead smashed bugs on the wall. There was gunk on the refrigerator door handle. Disgusting, do not recommend!

After stepping in the shower moments, after arriving.... I killed two bugs on the corner of the shower wall.... I noticed little black tiny eyelashes on two of the pillows on the beds.... We booked a room with two queens and we got a room with two double beds.... I called the front desk and asked for new pillows. He brought down two bigger pillows with nothing dirty on the pillow case and said he was sorry.... After we turned off most of the lights to go to bed, I moved a chair to plug in a fan and a large spider was on the wall and went under the baseboard unreachable to kill the spider. There are no soaps, no shampoos provided in our room... The bedspread looks very fancy on the website.... All it was was a white blanket when arriving.... I booked two queens... We have two doubles.... ... Mattress is very used. All there is is a thin fitted sheet over the top of a very dirty mattress... One of the pillow cases has a cigarette hole burn in it. Unacceptable.... Very disappointed. Will not book again through Motel 6... I thought motel 6 was better than this... Even with taxes, it's almost $100 a night in St. Joseph, Missouri. The parking lot is virtually empty..... Why we did not get two queens is more than I know ✔️. Ridiculous and I am ashamed of falling for it. . We just took a picture of a big bug on the wall and it was identified as a German cockroach... We are checking out and reporting this to Expedia...
