Staff was wonderful, friendly and helpful. Room smelled musty, air conditioner leaking on the ottoman by the mirror. Toe nail in bottom drawer, chip crumbs in the top of the dresser- kept clothes in my suitcase. Gross... Bed very comfortable, slept well. Breakfast was perfect. Disappointed not to have access to the English Tea in the afternoon that I remembered from previous stays. Overall a nice stay, enjoyed the side courtyard as before.

We booked this for my daughters 10th birthday trip and she loved it! She really enjoy the decor, playing chess, the breakfast but most of al she loved the scavenger hunt! The scavenger hunt around the hotel was the highlight of her stay

It’s next to the HiPointe theater so I could walk to the movie that night. That was nice. The furniture in the room was torn and the window opened to an ugly section of the rooftop with several ventilation pipes. The shower has a door that opens at the end opposite the faucet so one has no choice but to be hit with cold water when turning on the water. This specific room should be steeply discounted.

Serious structural issues with the lower parking garage with large cracks in the concrete. I touched one of those cracks with my hand and a golf ball sized piece of concrete came out and hit my car (no damage). My room was at the end of the hallway and I did not have warm water one morning for a shower after I tried running the show for over 5 minutes. On weekends, the lobby gets really loud and crowded as it has a popular bar there. Parking is a problem at times. I rented a royal room hoping that it would be as good as the photos shown, but it seemed to be lacking furnishings. I am on the fence if I would stay here again.

This hotel is absolutely one of my favorites I’ve ever been in, from the interesting decor, chess sets left on tables( a life size one to play in the garden), spot on service, fantastic breakfast, and pub full of intrigue you never want to leave.

Super comfortable beds and pillows. Delicious breakfast with lots of fruits and berries. The only thing I didn’t like was the bathroom light. It turns on automatically when you need to use the bathroom at night, and doesn’t turn off for an eternity:) keeps you awake

This is a one of a kind place. Breakfast is outstanding! Beds are extremely comfortable! Extremely accommodating for pets! Since it is an older hotel, the walls are pretty thin. Parking is frustrating with a truck. If the restaurant is open next store, good luck finding a spot for the hotel.

The property is old and in need of updates, if even possible. The front desk did allow me to check in early, which was much appreciated. I struggle to see how it's a **** hotel. I had a nice view out my windows of an alley. I was born and reared in St. Louis; racial strife comtinues to dominate. I ended my stay at this hotel sadder over what I remember of St. Louis, than the reason I came to town, which wad for a beloved family member's funeral.

The staff were very attentive. The property was charming, but definitely had some deferred maintenance, there was a broken window pane in our room that was fixed with tape and still had a piece missing. There is a lot of nick nackery that could use a good dusting. Breakfast was decent - not a full English breakfast though. The room was large, the bathroom was nice but very small. Safe area. Really walkable and close to Forest Park and all kinds of food.

Not what it used to be
Been staying here for years. It needs a good cleaning, paint job and sprucing up. The breakfast was so lacking, not at all what it used to be. I ended up not eating anything. Fox & Hounds is always great, and bartender was wonderful. The ambiance that it used to have-fireplace going in the big room & even the arrangement of the big room have changed. Sadly, it's lacking.

Everything was excellent with the exception of having to run the shower 5 minutes prior to getting in. This is what the management staff told me to do.

While it has a really cool “retro” decor, it seems it’s really just because the property is dated. Our room was noisy due to the hvac system and the shower was so small my shoulders nearly touched each wall. That’s the bad- the good is that it’s in a convenient, safe location and there’s an excellent dispensary around the corner- next time in StLouis, we will be looking for a more modern boutique hotel.

Disappointing stay
New Year's Eve stay. We stayed here last NYE as well. This year, they closed the bar early and kicked a full bar out to the lobby at 10 pm. Really disappointing. Staff is not very polite and the garage smells like weed.

Thank you, William, for your review and honest feedback. We are sorry that you were unhappy with the bar closing at 10pm, but that was the normal closing time for the bar that night. We appreciate your critique about the staff and will look to resolve that. Unfortunately, while we try to make sure that guests are not smoking while on property, it is very difficult to catch people smoking weed in the vehicles. We would really prefer they not smoke on our property at all.
