Wonderful!
This was the perfect house for us. We especially loved the separate bedroom for our son to stay in. It was a fully stocked kitchen and a nice grill so we cooked in every night. The hot tub was great too! Mindi and John are wonderful hosts with top notch communication. The location was perfect for exploring the National Park and surrounding areas. The pictures just don't do this place justice, it's way cooler!

Wish we had more time
Amazing location for Volcano National Park. We loved this house but we were hardly there! We booked two nights but explored on our road trip there so much that we got there late. Then the next day we hiked 8 miles in The park. It was great to come back to that hot tub. The house is gorgeous and worked great for our family of four adults. Wish we had more time here. So peaceful!

Cute and comfortable
Cute and comfortable home in a great location for Volcanos National Park. My older child loved that one of the bedrooms was in it's own building, but it might not work out well for families with multiple younger children. A few board games kept us entertained in the evenings but there is also a nice big TV if you like. Hot tub was a great perk in the evenings after some hiking! We loved eating at the restaurant at Volcano House for the view of the caldera (and good food).

Cozy cabin in the rain forest
Really enjoyed this private cabin in the rain forest. The wood stove (for warmth and ambience) took a little skill to get going but was comforting during the rain storms. The double sized beds were a little small but ok for one person in each.

Cozy cabin
This beautiful cabin is located perfectly by Volcanoes National Park and the cute volcanoes village. We loved every aspect of this property: location, quiet, beautiful property. It was so relaxing to come back each day and cook, enjoy a fire and a hot tub soak. One afternoon I sat in the backyard and bird watched. Beautiful kitchen. Comfy beds & furniture. Highly recommend

January volcano trip
This place is awesome! The quiet beauty and surroundings are amazing and the proximity to the park is perfect. We had great time hiking all day and returning to hot tub. Recommend Kīlauea lodge for dinner. All the photos do the property justice, it is incredibly beautiful. Would highly recommend.

Peaceful and Inviting Sanctuary
We enjoyed the beautiful and comfortable interior and the lanai was a delightful bonus. The covered lanai features a table and grill and plenty of room for Qigonh practice. The house is full of light and festooned with orchids. The neighborhood is quiet and walkable. We really enjoyed the wood stove during the slightly cool evenings. The kitchen was well equipped with good quality pots, pans, and knives. The entrance to the national park and some good restaurants, especially the superb Ohelo, are only a couple of miles away. Highly reccomded for those that prefer a more quiet place to stay.

Perfect Family Vacation
Could not have been a more perfect vacation home with Volcano NP as the destination. Craftsman style and landscape made us feel like we were out in the jungle. Yet proximity to National Park and quaint town was great. Our host was wonderful and check in was flawless. Thank you!!

Beautiful spot, amazing orchids, great location
This is a gorgeous house in a wonderful setting. The orchids placed throughout the house make it really special. The house was basically clean but is in need of a thorough cleaning to deal with spiderwebs and dust. The kitchen is outfitted with a somewhat odd assemblage of pots and pans. Those provided are good quality but again cleanliness was an issue. One of the large pots in the cupboard had melted butter or oil in it. I had cleaned several of the other pots and pans but didn’t have the energy to take this on. There is a sweet little espresso maker that is fun to use. Pepper and salt shakers were rusted and unusable for us. We didn’t try the jacuzzi. The wood stove was fun and there was enough wood. We were disappointed that only one of the bikes was useable. The other bike had a completely rusted chain and broken spokes. We were a bit unsettled by the fact that the uv filter alarm for the water system was going off when we arrived indicating it needed replacement. We didn’t notice until we were leaving that the smoke alarms had been taken down and put in the closet. Overall a nice place; it would be super if better maintained.

Beautiful house, great location
Really sweet house so close to the park. Love the wraparound porch and the living area and kitchen are great. Cool countertops. Only place it comes up short (for us) are the sleeping arrangements. This place would be so perfect with a nice comfortable king bed. Bed is small and hard in our opinion. Outside area bed felt super soft, although we didn't use. No heat that I saw out there and it does get cold at night. Love the little wood stove in the living room although I'll be honest I hadn't noticed in the listing this IS the only heat source, lol. Luckily I'm good with making a fire and they had wood available. Super cozy with a nice fire going. Just a great vibe there but I'd need a better bed if I were staying there for more than one or two nights.

Simply beautiful!
I LOVED this house in Volcano! It is one that is even better than the pictures (and they are pretty great). The yard and surrounding areas are just lush and private. The interior is like a cabin in the woods (or the tropics in this case). It is very close to Volcano park and also the winery is just around the bend. I wish we stayed longer. It was just so serene. Highly recommend!

Beautiful Place In Great Location
We thoroughly enjoyed staying here and would definitely stay here again. The construction of the place is very cool with a lot of artistic touches. The huge deck is great for eating outside. The upstairs was a great place for my wife to do yoga. The neighborhood is safe and quiet. The tap water is delicious - it tastes like bottled mineral water. The place made us want to move to Volcano!

Peaceful spot, perfect location!
This home is a quiet, private, open-feel, gorgeous house tucked intricately into the landscape within walking distance to a winery and Volcano National Park! The host was responsive, and the house was so clean and stunningly gorgeous, with incredible attention to detail in designing the artwork, windows, and views to make us feel like we were in a private location without being remote. We spent our mornings drinking coffee on the private lanai and serenaded by the local pheasants and birds, and we cooked meals in the full kitchen. Having a full size washer and dryer was a really nice addition, as many other places I saw on the island did not provide this amenity so easily on site. The host gave us viewing tips for the volcano when it started erupting, and tons of other amazing sites to see all around the island. Lots of trails all around the house, and ideal location from which to explore Hilo, eastern coastline, and southern coast areas. Highly recommend!!

Beautiful home on beautiful property. I loved the grounds and all of the ginger and orchid flowers. It feels remote but it's not. It's just down the road from Volcanoes National Park and Volcanoes Winery.

Nice property with great potential, issues with host
Check in was smooth. We got detailed directions to the property in advance and finding it wasn't hard even though google map is off by a few houses. Proximity to the Volcanos park is the major thing going for this home. The house is designed in a rustic style. Main building has bedroom and bathroom plus loft on the second floor. There is an additional building with bedroom and bath room. Each bathroom has a shower. The kitchen is missing dishwasher, something we didn't expect but not a big deal. The loft and separate building didn't have blinds, which was a major inconvenience for our adult kids who occupied these rooms since the sun was waking them up each morning. The kitchen appliances are worn out but usable. The house was not very clean. We have encountered numerous spider webs and dead insects. It has a cozy backyard with a fireplace and a hot-tub that was broken during our stay. It was our wedding anniversary and we counted on it, so I wish I had known about hot-tub situation in advance, or at least offered some kind of refund. Instead the host dinked us with a fine for not collecting linens during checkout. This looked somewhat petty in my opinion. We sure would have done it if the checkout procedure was more clearly communicated.

Very nice place, and great location
This is a really cool place. We loved the location, it was super clean. The setup with the extra bedroom in the other building was really cool for our teenager who likes privacy. It was a bummer that the hot tub was 80 degrees when we arrived. It was too cold to get in when the weather was chilly at night. That was a feature we were looking forward to using. Since we were only staying 2 nights there was not enough time to heat up. I didn't get any feedback from the owner about that so it may be 'normal'.

A Hidden Gem
This location is just that, a hidden gem. Tucked away in Volcano, this property is located minutes from the center of Volcano Village and the entrance to Volcano National Park. The property is very clean and is well stocked. The host was extremely responsive to all our inquiries. We will likely be back again!!

Room for improvement
The listing does do the porch and backyard justice, it is a lovely setting in the woods. However, in more than 10 years of VRBO traveling we've never had the level of mechanical difficulties as we had with this house. The hot water went out and then the stove. The phone number listed for the property manager was the wrong number. We were left on our own to solve the problem. An unrelated issue the heater on the jacuzzi was also broken. Finally the tap water was brown and unclear whether it was potable. With some maintenance before the next hosting this would be a very nice property.

HI Bill, Our apologies for the propane running out during your stay...but we did have tanks available that you switched 1 out & told me it was no problem. Propane runs both our instant on demand hot water and the stove. The motherboard went out on the jacuzzi right before your stay. This is not an easy fix & I instantly worked with tech support to see if there was a quick fix. Sadly, that was not possible....especially since we had recently replaced it. I never heard from you in regard to our water. The entire Volcano community is on water catchment. Our tank is completely covered & we have 3 filters....a polystyrene, a carbon block and a UV light. I updated our cleaner's phone # while my phone # is posted on the refrigerator along with my husband's. We take great pride in opening our home to folks from around the world. I will take your comments to heart as we do manage the home ourselves & employ 2 wonderful ladies who help with keeping it super nice for our guests.

We had a wonderful four night stay in Volcano celebrating our twin daughters’ 16th birthday. The home was perfectly located near the park and our daughters loved having their own space to retreat to after a long day of exploring the park. Would love to come back and stay again!

25th Anniversary Trip
Very convenient for Volcanoes NP. Nice drives through beautiful scenery to go to all parts of the big island. House was very comfortable with plenty of usable space and amenities.

The house is beautifully built and in a great location close to the park. It was perfect for our family of four. We were able to take long hikes in the park and then prepare homemade meals in the evening and enjoy them on the deck while watching the kalij pheasants foraging in the yard. (It also was great having the accessibility to the park for a night of astrophotography.)

Beauty and serenity so close to Hawaii Volcanoes NP!
We were enchanted by this home! Our family vacation included the bucket list item of seeing the amazing Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. The home is nestled in the trees and located in a quiet residential neighborhood less than 3 miles from the main park entrance. It was the perfect location for home base as we explored the park, and our excursions to see nearby black sand beaches and the South Point. This home was lovingly crafted by the owner, and is the work of a true artisan and nature enthusiast. Porch beams are in the shape of the trees, and the naturally stained wood is in harmony with the lush, secluded garden. We shared our morning coffee and evening meals outdoors to the music of birds and frogs. The volcanic photography displayed on the walls was awe inspiring. Our hosts have made the Big Island their home for decades, and were amazingly helpful with place and activity recommendations. We were so fortunate to meet owner John, who shared with us all about the house and the life and community they've enjoyed in Hawaii. The kitchen is very well equipped, and we cooked many meals during our stay. We walked the charming neighborhood, and enjoyed a soak in the jacuzzi. There are modern amenities such as good WiFi and TV service. Honestly, we didn't turn on the TV....there was just too much else to enjoy! This beautiful home has everything you need to enjoy a remarkable stay in a very special place.

We totally enjoyed our stay at the house in Volcano! It’s a beautiful house, built with stunning craftsmanship. The location is perfect for visits to Volcanoes National Park. The house was very comfortable, the kitchen fully outfitted, the hot tub warm & toasty, and the everything was super clean. 10/10 would recommend.

Great home!
We stayed here for four nights as part of our honeymoon on the Big Island. Awesome house with plenty of space and necessities. Great location near the entrance to the Volcano National Park. The owners are great and very easy to get a hold of. The hot tub was sadly not working for our stay, but they were super communicative about it and even drove out to try and fix it. Highly recommend this place!

Beautiful Volcano Retreat
Ka Lehua is a beautiful cedar home made with local Ohia tree poles with lava stone foundations that make this a one of a kind vacation spot. We visited the local winery down the street and walked the neighborhood. The National park a mile away has hiking trails and bike paths and an art gallery full of locally made crafts, art and jewelry. We hope to visit again

Beautiful Home Near Volcanoes
Wonderful spot for visiting Volcanoes National Park. We went back and forth from the park quite a bit each day. The proximity to the park was great especially during some intermittent rainstorms. The home was so clean and comfortable. It was just like the photos and exactly what we were looking for during our stay. We loved the wood burning stove and comfortable living area. I had a few questions before the trip and Mindi was very responsive and helpful. We definitely recommend this little slice of paradise!

Cabin in the woods
This home was everything we wanted and more for our home base to hike and enjoy Volcano National Park. It’s beautiful park like backyard felt secluded and quiet. The hot tub was a treat after hiking around during the day. Gorgeous, well planned interior made we wish we were staying longer. Book this place- you will love it!

The pictures of this home do not do it justice. It is an absolutely gorgeous home tucked away in a quiet community. The wood work is fantastic, you can really see the quality and care that has been put in to making this place its own unique location. The layout is great, we loved the large windows on the main room. The outer room is a great addition for a bit of privacy. We were able to sit in the hot tub and watch the glow of Kiluaea over the surrounding forest. Our host was fantastic, letting us know that the volcano had started to erupt, allowing us to see a real once in a lifetime experience.

Loved Mindi's property and Mindi's process. The owners really care about their home and ensuring you have a great stay in this part of the Big island. Their communication and information were excellent. The house was great for our family of 4. We would definitely book again next time we want to stay near the national park.

Beautiful place to live in nature..
Gorgeous handcrafted house surrounded by tress with melodious bird sounds, very peaceful, that you can experience the bliss during your entire stay. Kitchen, bedding, toiletries, laundry very well equipped and stocked very well. Jacuzzi and fireplace are frosting of the place, and Christmas tree was cherry on top. Lovely secluded area
The property is beautiful. Walking out the back deck you feel like you're in a forest. So very peaceful and calming. It does get surprisingly cool overnight, so be prepared for that. House is well stocked. Bring a flashlight or head lamp if you're looking to walk in the evening as it gets very dark. The house was a little less clean than I'm used to and had a distinctive smell, possibly from being closed up for a period of time without ventilation. The house is remotely located so bring things for early mornings or late nights to snack on or get your morning started. Overall a pleasant stay in a beautiful house and location.

Fall Break Fun with our boys!
We live on the Kona side of the Island, and we wanted to have a fun staycation for our two boys. It was a perfect getaway! The host/Owner Mindy is very friendly, prompt and helpful! The handcrafted home was a very unique home with many nice touches. Beautifully landscaped outdoor made us feel like you are in the woods, but it is not really! Just passed the National Volcano Park so super convenient and felt safe in the neighborhood and close to the Volcano town area if you forget to bring something and need to buy few things at the store. The house was clean, pretty well equipped and cozy. Kids were able to do smores outside and I got to sip my wine in the nice hot tub! The hot tub was nice and hot waiting for me when I arrived! I highly recommend for family trip! Mahalo!
