Hotel a Shawcrest

“This is overall a good hotel. I know this review isn't going to sound that way but I rely on Expedia reviews and want others to know what to expect. It is very bare bones. There are basically no amenities. No laundry. The wi-fi is basically non functional. No ironing board (though there was an iron). No microwave. Towels are small and very minimal (we only got 3 for a 4 person room). No hand towels at all and only 2 washcloths. It is also right on a major highway so you WILL hear a lot of...

“There is a charge per person at check in which is not mentioned in the details when booking through Expedia. $20 per person per night for each adult or child. The stairs are very slippery in the rain.”

“The shower would turn to scalding water during a shower without any warning. We went to the office. The lady at the desk smiled at us condescendingly and said , “The pipes are old”. My husband, a paramedic and firefighter told her she should not rent the room to anyone with children or risk a serious injury to a child. She shrugged and said she’d have someone take a look. Nothing changed and no one looked at anything.”

“I think the balcony was one of the best parts of the hotel because the ocean view was magnificent from the balcony. Aside from the many different people walking, jogging, running, riding scooters, bicycles, motorcycles, and cars- we saw dolphins , boats, ships, helicopters, and small airplanes flying carrying advertising banners behind them. There was always something happening. It was calming to see and hear the tides coming in and going out.”

“The pool and the shower are great. It seems like they have done upgrades but they are not done with craftsmanship and things are literally falling apart. The grounds around the hotel are full of trash and they were removing trash while we were there. They scratched my car with the trash they were taking out. The parking is not the greatest but I will say with this being our second time staying here, it was better than last time. The staff is super friendly and helpful.”

“no parking nobody monitoring anything everthing smelled like weed tripled the price because of the jeep invasion event no where near the show constant dj music from the tiki bar till 1 o'clock no where near a one star place but Expedia ranked it a 7.8”

“Better than I expected”

“Common areas were not as clean as expected. Room: humidity filtration right above (ceiling) where i sleep. Bathroom windows shade broken and no providing enough privacy when in the bathroom. I have to use a towel to cover part of it. Humidity filtration in the bathroom ceiling as well. Bedroom door hinge loose. Doors left open at night. Icemake liking”

“Room was bigger than expected. Renovated. Close to boardwalk. We will book again. Front desk staff was very friendly & housemen too! Note: parking at the resort is piggy back and you’re required to leave your car key at the office in the event someone needs to leave. I would bring an extra key so in the event you accidentally check out like I did and forget your car key. Front desk called me to tell me I left it. Luckily for me we didn’t leave the island and I was able to pick it up same day.”

“Location of the property was very convenient to the beach and boardwalk . Staff very friendly . Property is old and in need of updating If your looking for convenience, this is a good option If your looking for a view or modern rooms, not your place”
