Mamie, please be honest as you didn’t check in to Ishmajoso Lodge. You did not show up and you requested a refund from Expidia. Expidia contacted me and I told them you did not show up and therefore it is not fair for you to write a review about us.

Terrible, stuffy rooms with lots of mouse and insects. I was sick throughout.

Hi Paa,Sorry for your experience. We fumigated the entire house - Lodge every 3 months for flies and Cockroaches and the chemical used in fumigation do not smell good. We will try and Fumugate rooms that are empty in the future. Thank you for the good words about the Lodge.

Highly recommended!
Everything was great. A/c works great. Water gets hot. Breakfast is good. Staff is very friendly and helpful. The Wifi works better than most 5-star hotels. Free coffee in the lobby. Highly recommended.

We will look into the rechargeable fans you suggested but we have contributed to having a local transformer which is now working and the electric voltage has improved with the the AC now working effectively. All around a great experience.
It was a great experience. The staff was always helpful the service was great. The breakfast was also very good and the other guests also were good company. Great atmosphere and would visit again.

Nous avons fait la réservation le jour avant, mais, en arrivant, il n'avait pas de place disponible. Ils ont dit qu'ils ont rétirer la disponibilité du site, mais ma réservation était confirmé. Après une discussion, ils ont trouvé un endroit au même prix et avec le petit déjeuner, comme c'était notre réservation là, et ils ont payé le taxi pour y aller. À cause de ça, nous n'avons pas retourner l'autre jour.

Best value I’ve found in Freetown.
It’s a bit difficult to find even for keke or taxi drivers, look for a sign in green letters on Peninsular road. The road is rough. The staff is friendly and very accommodating. They will do your laundry or go at night to get you food. Tip them well they work hard.

GREAT LODGE, VALUE FOR MONEY, LOVELY EMPLOYEES!!!
All but positive for me. This lodge is wonderful, the customer care is impeccable. Everything and everyone is lovely. The guys that work in this place are Godsent. They aim to please. No job is too big for them. Anything you ask for they will do their level best to make it happen. Breakfast was delicious and if you miss breakfast there is always a plate saved for you to have whenever you like. I stayed at the lodge with my kids and the loved it. It was a home from home. Starting from the owner to each and everyone of the employees were very accommodating. I recommend this lodge to anyone and I won’t stay anywhere else. Thanks to Isatu, fadika, Arthur, Abubakar, claude, saow for making me and my kids Christmas holiday a memorable one, the lovely drivers for pick ups and drop offs at the airport. Mr Ismail thanks for everything and for your swift response whenever I needed any questions answered and your assistance from booking your lodge, during my stay and leaving. DO NOT HESITATE BOOKING THIS PLACE, IT’’S REMARKABLE AND THE OWNER AND EMPLOYEES ARE LOVELY. GREAT VALUE FOR MONEY!!

This is our second stay at the lodge and we were a little disappointed this time with the service. The room was mostly ready, we only waited a few minutes, but there is definitely not a 72 hour air our after the last guests, so if you are concerned about covid be aware of that. We wanted to order food (tea and egg with toast) it took more that 2 hours to arrive and there were no condiments offered. The free breakfast was adequate, but we never ate before 9am, despite the times saying it would be earlier so we had to miss breakfast sometimes due to other engagements we needed to be on time for. Everyone is friendly for sure and it is safe, just don't plan to eat there unless you order early and have no where to go!

We enjoyed our stay and felt very comfortable there. We were happy for the hot water showers!!! Just a few ideas that might help improve the rooms. The wall by the bed was a little dirty and could use a wash, there were no garbage cans in the room and the tv's only had 6 channels but only three worked and two were selling items. It would also be nice to offer guests two little bottles of complimentary water. Otherwise, this was really a nice place to stay for a reasonable price. The food was lovely and the free breakfast really offered a lot of delicious options. The team was very friendly.

The lodge was really friendly and everyone was willing to support our needs and were flexible with us extending. The food was so tasty and we enjoyed the breakfast and our dinners. The prices were reasonable, however there was apparently a price change in the menu which no one told us about until we went to pay, which felt a bit frustrating. Regardless, we would go back again. They even helped us early in the morning to arrange transport to travel to the bus station. We are really grateful to them for this.

Overall my experience at Ishmajoso Lodge was average. I stayed at the lodge for three months due to the professionalism of the owner. In my opinion, his staff was unprofessional, incompetent and rude. Maybe with more training, overtime they can adhere to a typical lodge policies.

On reflection they went beyond to help you with things that were not their job. example, doing food shopping for you, cleaning your shoes. The staff were been helpful but this made professional boundaries very informal. We have however learn a lot from you stay and thank you for staying with us for 3 months

Please don't be fooled by the pics that you see on the internet . I went there the end of march the amenities that was promised was not provided. There was no laundry provided . It was very hot inside the hotel the air was not running properly i had to go and purchase a fan. I was there for two days before i had to request for them to come and change the sheets on my bed. The room was very small we was promised a bigger ro on the lower level never got it . The bathroom was not clean around the shower looked like it had mold around it and it. I requested for it to be clean and it still did not look clean . Now mind you i had to leave the hotel cause i just was not satisfied and they was still expecting me to pay full balance. I told the manager saw if you was in america you could not get away with this , he then stated this is not america it Africa . I was so appalled and he should have been ashamed of what he said but was not. Please dont be fooled by these pics the was horrible.

Latara, you only mention all this after you had stayed for four days and you requested further discount you told us your relatives had provided you accommodation and if we don’t give you the discounts you will check out. We declined you request and you checked out and you have not paid us completely up to now. I will leave the readers to make their own judgement taking into consideration all the other reviews we have over the years accepting responsibility that at times our standards my not reach what we desire but this is an exception not a norm

Good value stay....
Staff were friendly, atmosphere relaxed, facilities good. Lodge located within a local neighbourhood off the tourist trail but with easy access to beaches, the capital and local facilities.

Das Zimmer war bei Ankunft sehr dreckig und wurde von mir gründlich sauber gemacht. Das Management sah keinen Handlungsbedarf. In den zwei Wochen Aufenthalt wurde nur einmal das Zimmer gereinigt. Das Badezimmer gar nicht. Klimaanlage funktionierte nicht. WLan nur zeitweise. Sehr viele Stromausfälle. Die Küche war noch nicht fertig; die Alternative war eine Zumutung. Das Personal faul. Beim Frühstück hat sich das Personal kaum gekümmert; aber vorgedrängelt um sich selbst etwas zu essen zu machen. Bettwäsche und Handtücher wurden nur auf Druck ausgegeben. Am Telefon vom Besitzer verhöhnt und verlacht. Trotz des günstigen Preises ist das Hotel überbezahlt.

We are aware who this guest is, if you know you are honest why should you send an anonymous review? If your room was so dirty on arrival and you had not paid in advance, why did you stay? Any reasonable guest would have just said, I am leaving and they won’t stay. If the service or facilities were not good, why did you continue to stay for 2 weeks and paid us at the end of the stay. Sorry if you are disappointed but I will leave the public to read your review and our response and make their own judgement.

Great lodge, I was happy with my stay and very impressed with the way the staff handled the Local electric power cut by making sure it had little affect to mine and the other guess stay. The food was well prepared and the rooms were comfortable adequate for my needs with cable tv. Friendly staff always willing to assist you and fulfill your needs. Although the lodge was off the main road I found that it did not affect me as there was local taxis available and which are very cheap.

I rarely provide reviews, for no particular reason. I am a traveler and don’t always find the time. However, my stay at Ishmajoso was very special. The amenities are well worth the price. What sets this particular lodge apart from the many, many places I have stayed are the staff. They are quite simply wonderful. It was difficult to move on and continue my travels.

The Stay Could Not Have Been Better!
My stay at Ishmajoso Lodge could not have been any better. The rooms were spacious and clean. The warm welcome of Claudius and his team made my time in Freetown as easy as it could be. Though the hotel is slightly out of the town center - not necessarily a bad thing (!) - the transport to and from was always quite simple and economical. Also its location means that you are near the best beaches in town (plus they have a car with driver available to be rented for a very fair hourly rate). Finally, please note that I am writing this a couple of weeks after leaving the hotel - and I can honestly say that Freetown, thanks to the efforts of the Ishmajoso team, was the definite highlight of my three week trip through West Africa!

I luved the cleaniness of the property the fresh and clean bedsheets and towels but most importantly the variety of breakfast options in the morning. Lunch snd dinner can be freshly cooked to order on time which really blew me away . The bar was well stocked and beers and soft drinks always cold the bsr staff are always very pleasant and helpful very good place to stay

Positive experience
My stay has been very positive. The lodge is very neat and accomodating. It has some very friendly and helpful staff. The staff are available and are willing to go to the extra mile to assist the guests (special shot out to Hassan and the lady chef). The owner cares about his property and is always looking for a feedback to improve the quality of services offered. I will definetely return to this lodge.
