It’s a very nice secluded property you have access to all three resorts which is nice! They transport you via gold carts they offer a guided bike tour of Puerto Morelos which was really nice! It’s about 1hr away from Cancun. You can purchase tickets to different activities at the lobby area. The restaurants are very nice! Be sure to make reservations right away my favorite was the Italian.

The food was 10/10 no matter where you ate. Drinks were excellent as well, super friendly staff. The grounds were beautiful, lots of plants and trees and beautiful flowers.

El CID was a fantastic property to host a large family group with a variety of ages from toddlers to grandparents! Great activities daily for the kids by the pool, endless entertainment via the cliff jump feature. Good entertainment options in the evening (my kids especially liked the urban dance and magic show). The dining options were amazing! Maybe I’m setting the bar low with my next comment, but if you serve bacon every morning at breakfast… you’re in elite company lol! With full access to the partner resort dining you really can have it all. The resort beach would be the only disappointment, but quickly remedied by a walk past the marina, through the 500 iguanas (which was amazing) to the beach at the resort next door! I confidently can speak for all the guests we travelled with in saying we absolutely would return! Thanks for the great memories.

We stayed for 1week it was a little frustrating that we couldn’t check in till 3pm but the concierge was nice enough to accommodate us for 2pm. The rooms smell like mold but they were a good size and very clean.the grounds and pools are welled kept, beautiful plants and natural wild life. The staff throughout the resort was very nice and friendly. But the Bell boys are running there own game!! leaving us waiting or not even showing up the Ventus drivers were much nicer and friendlier. We stayed at the marina side it was outdated but overall nice! Luv that u can go into the sister resorts Ventus and Ventus ha brand new and much nicer grounds. The food was good in all of the resorts. Will definitely come back to this resort just stay in the Ventus side! Had a nice relaxing vacation! 4stars for me! Will recommend. Thank you!

Nice property to stay at and great food selection; however, we could not swim on the beach. Beach was filthy and stinky because of algae. Be prepared to pay for internet access and/or resort fee and transfer to and from the resort. Much to our surprise, we were charged US$28 for taxes during check in. This extra tax was not on Expedia's nor the resort's website.

It’s a beautiful hotel with great pools, amazing food and nice staff. Lots of dining options, the Japanese is a must, what a show with the fire. It’s not too big so we were able to try all of the pools at each of the sister hotels, the cliff jump and slide at El Cid was perfect for the kids and lots of fun games during the day and the pool overlooking the sea was lovely. Wonderful evening shows! We have been to lots of places in Mexico including moon palace but El Cid is my favourite by far.

This resort was great! The food was pretty good and the staff was amazing. The booze wasn’t the greatest, but didn’t hinder our vacation at all. Our 6 yr old twins loved the kids club and the water slide and cliff-diving pool were amazing for the kids! They also had quite a few other pools so we never got bored. Definitely would recommend, especially for those with kids.

We had a wonderful stay! Beautiful resort and so many options to have a wonderful, relaxing vacation! Highly recommend Marina el Cid! The ONLY negative comment is the beach area, but they do a great job cleaning up the seaweed everyday and the seaweed and erosion is NOT their fault! Will definitely stay there again!!!

The beach isn’t very swim able bc of the sargasm in the water. Our room smelled musty but we lived with it anyway. The beds were comfortable and the resort is beautiful landscaped. The restaurants were good and very nice. The service was fantastic all around! We went snorkeling on a catamaran from the marina and was excellent! We used all of the pools within the 3 resorts. Had a great time!

The property is beautiful, stunning with nature. We have stayed in this resort a few times and it’s just amazing, if you are a beach person this is not for you, the beach front is very small but the pool areas are amazing, the staff is always in a nice mood and smiling at all times it makes a world of difference to have a friendly staff, just a couple of hiccups one day it lost power for a couple of hrs and another day there was no hot running water to take a shower but it was so hot that you didn’t really need hot water to shower. I do feel this time around the food wasn’t as good as before, less choices sat the breakfast buffets, they were serving the same menu each day it lacked variety, never the less food was also amazing, did not care for the French or Japanese dinner restaurants it tasted generic, the Italian, grill and Mediterranean was amazing, I will definitely come back I live the property, vegetation and personnel.

Beautiful property. Nice rooms. The Delores eating setup is absolutely amazing. The resort needs a cabinet or something similar to capture room service trays and leftover food so they are not left in the hallways for critters/ants. Overall a great value property that is close to Cancun airport and Puerto Morelos.

Coffee shop was great but doesn't open until 7am. Dinner buffets were not kept up to proper temperatures. TV was broke. A staff member walked into our room at 9 pm on our first night, i was in bed asleep. The noise levels at night felt like a frat party. Staff were very friendly. Beware of fake sales or anything at a discount.

We have 2 small kids and decided to try this hotel and wish we chose a different one. This is the list of issues compiled, be aware that what the call “beach” is actually a filthy swamp with sewage smell which makes you want to throw up. 1. They give you free internet only on 2 devices, even if the reservation is for 4 people. Additional devices cost US$15 per day. Note that free WiFi is listed as one of the amenities in their page on Expedia with no mention of restrictions/limit 2. There is no beach. There is access to the ocean and they put tones of sand bags to make it a “beach” but it is just make it dirty, the water there is literally brown with sewage smell. They photoshopped pictures of the beach and post those here in Expedia. 3. Staff service is a hit or miss. For lunch no waiter came to ask us for our drink order, I asked a waiter and his response was that I was not sitting on his “zone” and that someone else was supposed to serve me (there was no one else serving on that section) 4. On our first day, the computer of the door handle deactivated and we were not able to get into our room. It took them multiple trips and over 1.5 hours to get it sorted out. 5. Dinner reservations are impossible, they say you can book only 2 reservations per day but once you go, everything at reasonable times for kids is booked and they only have after 9pm for just one or two restaurants. They advertise they have 5 and make it sound like you will always have access to them, not true.

We've been to numerous places in Mexico and overall the facility is decent. Nothing special but generally nice. BUT buyer BEWARE!!!!!! In my opinion this place is running a scam. Upon arrival we were traveling with family who have several kids(all <10 yrs old); the hotel said the ages were 'put in wrong' which is impossible since they all had to be verified for their passports. They then said we had to pay ANOTHER $X,XXX (Expedia won't allow amount) for the kids to stay those 6 days. Everything was confirmed via Expedia. They didn't care. We argued that evening and again in the morning. We even spoke to 2 managers who were basically useless. It was expressed to us that they 'have this issue' with Expedia 'all the time.' In short we were there and stuck. The hotel knew this so we had to pay. At this point neither Expedia nor the hotel will do anything about this. Expedia blames the hotel, the hotel blames Expedia YET WE had to fork out ANOTHER $X,XXX!!!!!!! I've never been to a place were the customer is treated so horribly. In speaking with several other hotel guests a women who booked through a different company (think big box chain)stated the hotel said her booking was wrong and she wasn't charged ENOUGH and told her she had to pay MORE or she couldn't stay. So guess what she did? Of course she paid. Again IN MY OPNION this is a scam and they know once you're there you're stuck & will pay since you can't just walk away. Like I said; IMO it's a SCAM.BEWARE!!!

Was not what I expected. I choose a really nice room upon arrival I shown a room that I did not pay for which caused me to pay 400 additional dollars to get what I originally paid for. I believe it’s a marketing scam. Horrible first day on vacation. Food is horrible.

We were upgraded to Ventus Ha and I'm glad we were. I have never stayed in such a luxurious room, and beautiful hangout spots. I booked this resort because I heard the food was excellent for a resort. I can confirm the food was awesome. The only downside is the reservation system for the restaurants. I didn't get to go to any resturant for dinner because everything was booked until 9 pm. I don't eat that late and I tried to reserve restaurants my first day there. It would be nice just to have wait times at the door instead. The pools were awesome at this resort but there isn't much for entertainment in the evenings. I loved the location and convience though. Overall I would recommend but only for elderly people or young families. If you're in your 30s like me, it can feel a bit boring. I don't even party much but I was fine because I like to venture off the resort, (which there is some awesome cenotes nearby) if you don't then I can see how it would get a bit boring as a young adult.

The food was exceptional. There is no real beach so don’t expect that but there is some sand and water to explore and the pools were amazing. Stay here!

We booked our trip through Expedia as an all-inclusive package and travelled as a family of 3 to stay at the resort for 7 nights. This property was selected mostly based on multiple positive reviews however a lot of them appear misleading as we were quite disappointed with our stay. Some of the reviews are likely written by Platinum members who get special treatment for additional fees. There were both positive and negative aspects as outlined below. Overall, 3 star and we will not be returning. Pros: - A lot of space by the pools with lounge chairs available at all times. - Entertainment every night - Clean - Very lush and green resort with lots of birds and animals. - Majority of servers and housekeeping staff were friendly; front desk not so much - Great Mexican food, the rest is just ok - You can request transportation by golf carts if needed at no charge. Cons - Additional $19 USD per night at check-in that’s not included through Expedia. Front desk not very helpful - Only 2 devices are allowed to connect per room; $60 USD a week, ea additional device. Weak internet - Golf carts (mostly gas powered) driving everywhere, every 20 seconds. - People smoke near the pool as there are no signs. - Beach is no good - Some food stations at the Mercado de Dolores smelled like wet rags (especially taco station). Not very appealing for your lunch. I hope this review help the hotel improve their service and the customers make their choice based on what they are looking for.

You know we booked through Expedia. That part was great! Then I tried to upgrade me room and book other stuff online with the resort. When we got there everything was messed up. All they tried to do was blame it on Expedia. The front desk people were a 1 out of 10. The rest of the staff were great. Shopping was hard to get to. I don’t know if I would go back there.

Our stay at El Cid was good. Not great but good. The hotel rooms where clean and well kept. The food was ok at the buffets(not great, not poor). The best Al-a-carte restaurant was the Italian Restaurant. The steakhouse was horrible. Just a note, no food is offered at the beach or poolside. The staff was well mannered at the resort. The overall feeling at the resort was good and we always felt safe. This is a good family resort, but I don't think we'll go back. It also felt like the staff only wanted to help you if you were willing to tip them all the time. We have had far better stays in Mexico in the past.

This was our 4th stay at Marina El Cid and it was just as wonderful as pur last visits. I have been traveling to the Cancun/Riviera Maya area since 1984 and have stayed at several all inclusives. When we found this gem in 2021, we will never go anywhere else. It checks all if my famulys boxes. It is by far the m9st friendly and cleanest resort you will find. They wash down every pool chair, trashcan, table every single night! They scrub mop every hard surface at the entire resort at least once a day! They steam clean the cushions of the chairs in the lobby at least weekly! The staff make you feel like royalty. Your cup is never empty. The food is hands down the best we have ever had. The ac in the room actually works unlike other resorts we have been to, the bed and pillows are the most comfy. You call for room service, its there within 15 min. The mini fridge is also cold! The grounds are lush and beautiful! There are crocodiles in the mangroves that are great to watch. They are working on the beach after it was severely damaged by a hurricane so if a beach is your number one, you may be disappointed but trust me, everything else makes up for it!

Went with a family of 5, 2 adults and 3 kids at the end of April 2024, checkin process was easy even though after that, they seem to go through the process of trying to convince you to go through a timeshare session that will give you some perks which you can accept or decline. They then proceed to drive you to the hotel room which is well cleaned and roomy with 3 beds. The facilities are nice and well staffed and all service personnel are very nice to all guests. Kids also love it there as there is pool slide and an area where they can freely jump. The food is also very good as it has buffet style restaurant and 2 a la carts restaurants included in the package. Overall I would recommend this hotel and will definitely come back again.

Beautiful grounds. Buildings, facilities, etc. well maintained and very clean. Great dining variety. Friendly and welcoming staff. Nice swimming pools but beach area limited due to lack of sand. Although cleaned daily, sargassum accumulation along the beach seemed unavoidable.

This place runs a scheme to collect more money upon arrival. We paid for 3 kids. Yet once we arrived the hotel claimed we didn't pay the correct amount based on their ages (3,8,10). They claimed they were all listed as 'infants' & the ages were entered incorrectly WHICH IS IMPOSSIBLE SINCE WE HAD TO HAVE THIS INFO FOR THIER PLANE TIX /PP's AND IT ALL HAD TO MATCH!!! Questioning this we ran comps and the price regardless of age was WHAT WE WERE ORGINALLY CHARGED. YET the hotel said we had to pay an ADDITIONAL $1200.00 for 6 days!! The hotel said it was an issue with Expedia; Expedia said there is an issue with the El Cid. Yet WE HAD TO PAY! Best part; the man at the counter stated, "this happens ALL THE TIME with Expedia." So you KNOW about this problem yet do nothing about it??? Neither Expedia nor this scamming hotel would do anything to correct an issue that WASN'T our fault!! We even suggested splitting the cost and the hotel said no. Apparently doing the right thing is a foreign concept. This is easily the worst customer service we've ever been subjected to. & don't bother talking to a manager at the hotel they just stand there looking confused. Expedia is no better. The kicker; we were part of a 20 person wedding party which after running the #'s together we spent approx $70,000 at the El Cid & they treated us like WE were the issue. Our family is large & we all travel quite a bit and believe me this is one hotel chain we want nothing to do with going forward.

Beware: Check-in services scammed us with supposedly upgrade for 300$US, upon review of signing paperwork, they charged us for the very assigned room waiting for us. Spoke with Manuel next day and still waiting for our refund. When checking out, desk agents were doing very same thing. Resort credit is a booklet of coupons, not like cruises. No Beach! Good to know is that the two sister resorts surrounding Marina are accessible, look newer and they offer really good dining: KOBO, Ataak, and French Bistro need reservations for dinner, there's Marketa food stations, Hacienda buffet for lunch, at night the roof top bar is lovely, many large pools

Beautiful, lush gardens very well maintained. Lots of birds and small wildlife kept the kids and adults in awe all week. Staff was genuinely very kind and helpful. Food was delicious! You have access to all three properties along with the pools and restaurants . We chose not to do any excursions this time and just enjoy the resort. We were bored, lots of diffrent things to do. We would stay here again for sure!

Overall a nice stay. The grounds were kept in excellent shape, very beautiful garden and property. Very kind staff for the most part. The food was okay over all, eventually we found the things to eat which were really great and worth it (Mexican food of course, no surprise) - note however the a la carte menus were not very good (and were a bit hard to get a booking at a time you wanted). Finally, as other commenters mention, the beach was not good because of the algae which was a bit disappointing not to being able to snorkel. The staff definitely try to keep the beach clean though, so this is not their fault. One negative thing to mention: we were travelling with a 7 month old baby. We had to leave for the airport for at 4PM and we had to check out at noon. We asked the front desk if we could have a late check out so we could put the baby for a nap in the room, and they said we can only do this for a fee. This was really quite disappointing at a family resort. We ended up avoiding the fee and put the baby to nap in the lobby (in baby carriage) as the heat was too intense outside. I wish they had been more flexible due to the young age of our child.
