“Hotel ideally situated just off the A12. But there is no road noise that disturbed our sleep. Room was nice and clean well stocked with tea and coffee, soap, shampoo, hairdryer and iron. Breakfast was very good and kept us topped up for most of the day. Although we didn't eat in the hotel, the menu had enough variety and was decently priced. “Vanessa and Steve were exceptional hosts and the facilities at “The Foxes Den” suited us perfectly. Everything was most satisfactory and we ended our stay with a delicious full English breakfast which kept us going for quite a while!!! We would recommend a stay there to everyone visiting the area for a peaceful and very comfortable night.”

“Reception staff were very helpful but restaurant staff were slow to serve. There were very few customers and after giving us the menu and us waiting half an hour, I had to find a different member of staff to come and take my order. This said the restaurant staff were courteous and friendly.”

“This hotel is not comfortable. No elevator, and thin curtains. A lot of light from the windows wakes you up at sunrise. Bathroom dirty and with bad smell. Good breakfast, and free parking. Dinner restaurant with limited choice and expensive for the quality and service”

“The rooms. at the Essex Golf and Country Club are very nice and super clean. Be aware there is no in-room ac that we could find and just the smallest desk fan in the room but perhaps this is only an issue for 3 weeks a year! We arrived late (9.30pm) and check was smooth, went to the room and unpacked and notice in the room directory suggested the bar was open until 10.30pm. We meander up only to be informed that last orders was at 10pm so we would only be permitted to purchase one drink. Then...

Mi hanno contattato subito dopo la prenotazione per darmi tutte le informazioni via whatsapp, gentilissimi e attenti. La camera pulita. Potrebbe risultare piccola per chi è alto e robusto, soprattutto se in coppia ma all'interno è presente davvero tutto. ”

“Relaxed dining in the bar, plus option to eat in the more formal dining room. Good outside table area. Great relaxing lounge with comfortable chairs and attentive staff. This an older character building with some very interesting features, but is reasonably well maintained. Have now stayed here four times and will definitely be returning.”

“Bathroom was lovely and modern but could do with a better shower, like a rainfall head. Breakfast buffet was not replenished quickly, partner gave up waiting for beans and the Natural/Greek yogurt was absent. Strangely there was too much ham on the eggs benedict, which made the dish cold quickly. Could also do with being extended. 9.30zm finish is too early for someone enjoying a night away from home. The hotel check in is 3pm unless you offer the £40 early check in fee, not great for customer...
