“My sister and I spent just a couple of nights here and truly fell in love with the house and staff. Every interaction was easy and kind, the house was incredibly well kept, and the grounds were gorgeous. It's located a bit out of the way which is perfect for minimizing crowds and noise! Our room was perfectly sized and the bed/bedding comfortable. All in all, a 10/10. Highly recommend to anyone in any stage of life.”

Staff were over worked and doing multiple jobs as best as they could and as quickly as they good. Tending bar, taking orders, waiting on tables - just one person! They really struggled at breakfast with a coach party all coming down to eat at the same time and only two waitresses and one chef to handle everything. I could see how frustrated the staff and the customers were getting with the whole situation. The room was clean and tidy with good tea and...

“The restaurant was excellent although the service was slow as there was no Maitre d' at the door to welcome and we had to wait quite a few minutes to be seated. However, the waiter cleared a table for us efficiently upon request.
The setting was perfect for our outdoor weekend: rapidly flowing river outside our window and lovely views into the valley.
The room was comfortable and spacious fitting myself, my husband and grown son adequately.”

Hotel was beautiful and certainly above the ‘stars’ given.
Bedrooms were massive and tastefully decorated. Breakfasts were amazing and plenty of it.
Some decor dated bit the staff certainly made up for any of that. .. Kind, professional, knowledgable, engaging abd with a sense of humour. …. Certainly a credit to Hotel.
Hotel has recently been modernised bit nit lost its Victorian charm.

“Just spent 3 nights at the brown horse, very pleasant stay.Great food and drink, a choice of ales. Very friendly staff, great service. Dog friendly rooms were good size and very comfy, even got a welcome pack for the dog. Very clean, with everything you needed, overall very nice stay, will definitely revisit.”

“The staff were Brilliant. We were given what could be described as a standard room when we arrived. When we showed reception picture of room which was booked they changed room to room on picture immediately. It was mentioned that it should not have been advertised as a superior room. Hotel was perfect for a warm , quiet welcome after a day walking. Staff were fantastic. ”
