“Central and Cosy”
While the room was a little on the small side, the restaurant was fabulous and the service v. good. The breakfasts which were included in the cost were of top quality. This hotel is situated in one of the most beautiful spots in Dublin. The tourist buses, which are an absolute must, depart from directly accross the road, and the best shopping district is two minutes walk away. There are a multitude of restaurants and bars within a stone's throw. There is also a beautiful park across the road, which has a number of statues hidden within. I recommend this hotel for the position, and the service.
“Misleading on line description”
My room was tiny and looked over a fire escape, no tea and coffee facilities, no refrigerator, no room service, no ironing facilites in the room. The room was clean but the stairwells and shared areas were seedy and dilapidated. Th elevator was extemely smelly and served as the service elevator for the basement kitchen as well as the guest elevator. Continental breakfast was only sodas bread and small croissant and jam with a very tart fruit salad and sugarfree yoghurt, no cheese, no cold cuts, no olives. The jam appeared to be home made and the jars were topped up. One day I was given a half used pot of marmalade. The cost of more than 100 Euros a night for one person was exorbitant for the quality provided. I was looking for a luxury boutique hotel which was how the Cliff Townhouse advertised itself. When I request luxury I mean luxury and sadly the Cliff Townhouse did not match its on line description. It is a very basic, fairy decrepit hotel that needs a lot of work and effort to bring it up to standard.
“Understated sophistication”
Just back from a short break in Dublin. The warm welcome we received from the staff at the Cliff Townhouse was an indication of the warm welcome we received throughout Dublin. My husband and I are both designers and have been known to be difficult to please when it comes to Architecture and Interior Design - it was not difficult to please us here. This Georgian Townhouse has been sensitively decorated and styled to provide a sophisticated boutique hotel. Calming wall colours with pops of colour and eclectic artwork and lighting made us feel right at home. Make sure you eat breakfast - you will not need lunch! Great Eggs Benny, freshly squeezed OJ and fresh fruit and pastries all served in their beautiful restaurant. As well as Breakfast eat Supper - you really will not be disappointed with the quality of food, service and value in this fine dining and sleeping establishment. Round your day off with a walk around the lake in the park opposite and you will feel rejuvenated - which is unusual for a city break but vrey welcome!
“OK - but we're unlikely to return”
The hotel is well located for the city centre and Temple Bar, however the parking we were directed to was in a public carpark in a shopping mall about 1/2 mile from the hotel. Although the hotel has preferential parking rates this still cost more than 25 euros for just under 48 hours. This was not clear from the hotel details which imply onsite parking. The restaurant was superb for the evening meal and although the quality of the breakfast food was good there were a number of menu items unavailable on the Sunday morning and service was somewhat surreal. The room was booked as deluxe but was very small and it was a shame not to have in room coffee making. Overall the hotel was adequate but we cannot see how it justifies the four star rating.
“Standardsnot that of a 4 star hotel”
The location of the hotel was really the only satisfactory thing about it. There is no food of any kind available in the hotel between 6.00pm Sunday and 5.30pm Monday. No tea or coffee making facilities in the rooms. No adequate lift and many steep stairs. Altogether most unsatisfactory.
“Friendly, helpful staff”
Very clean and comfortable. It was an old Edwardian building so was lacking some modern refinements such as a lift. I felt that the staff were very helpful and eager to give good service. I was actually out from early in the morning until late at night because I was attending a conference at a different hotel so was unable to enjoy the advantages of the location very much. Excellent breakfast.
“Goed hotel mooie ligging”
Mooi hotel met vriendelijk behulpzaam personeel op prachtige locatie, veel bezienswaardigheden op loopafstand en Grafton Street om de hoek!
