A gem, close to the action!
The perfect home base for our activities with the Sno*Drift Rally. Amazingly situated near Atlanta Schools and the town itself. Owner is amazing and accommodating.

Labor Day Weekend
We stayed for the long holiday weekend. The house is spacious and comfortable. We had 4 adults and 2 teenagers and we had plenty of room. The lake is awesome, and we loved kayaking.

Cozy, peaceful Family Getaway
We stayed at Papa Bear for 3 nights and 4 days. Marc was communicative and helpful. We had access to all the boats--the kayaks were the highlight of our trip! The lake is stunning. The house has all the supplies you need. There were trundle beds in the bedroom, so we fit everybody comfortably, and the kids really enjoyed the downstairs excercise room! The private dock was also a very peaceful spot. We enjoyed a bonfire in the lakeside firepit and a barbecue on the big deck. The house has games and DVDs as well as a smart TV, which added to our vacation time. The master bedroom is beautiful and overlooks the lake with big windows. Everything was designed with comfort and family in mind. It was very peaceful and cozy and there were plenty of blankets and sheets for all. Marc is very kind and did not invade at all but was there when needed. I would reccommend this vacation home for any family!

The area was great the home is Filthy & riddled with cat urine. We made the most of our vacation but will definitely not be booking this home ever again.

Great time..
We had a great time at Papa Bear on Crooked Lk. The kids fished off the dock, kayaked and went for a boat ride with me. We visited Clear Lake State Park to swim one day, and also used the beach on Croocked Lake a couple times. At night we sat around the fire and listened to owls, loons, and other wildlife under a star filled sky. The house/cabin was plenty big enough for all of us. The common space down stairs was a favorite of the kids to watch TV at night. Having 3 bathrooms was a plus also. The property manager was extremely responsive, and very helpful when I had questions. Only downsides are no beach at cabin for young kids to play(which we knew about going in), and the dock is old and in need of repair. I only gave 4 stars on cleanliness, because it was clean enough for me, but my wife thought it was a bit dusty, and was not a fan of the cobwebs that were in the corners. Other than that it was pretty clean. All in all, I would recommend this place to anyone looking to have a relaxing time in northern Michigan!

Great getaway
Marc is very responsive to inquiries even during your stay. The property has everything you’d need for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. The serene lake is just the thing for a relaxing yet fun time. You have access to several boats and motors. There’s a hot tub and fire pit and a couple of grills. Marc has thought if it all!

Vacation house
Had a wonderful vacation. The house was perfect for our family. Would stay again. Only problem was the fire pit was not old people friendly to steep of a climb. Owner was always communicating all the time to make sure everything was there and working. We made lots of memories thanks

Thanks for your input! Yes, I am in the process to putting stepping platforms in for all of the houses. Also, 2 of the 3 docks are in the process of being replaced. Always room for improvements! Thanks, again, Marc

some furniture needs updating sharing boats with other cabins was a problem not too handy if have problems walking unable to walk down hill to lake master bedrm needs ac lovely location beach nearby ( clear Lake) was nice

Solitude on Crooked Lake
Wonderful fully equipped home on crooked lake. Access to all the amenities and equipment you need to enjoy a week on this quiet gorgeous northern Michigan lake. Bring your rod and reel and leave the rest behind. Excellent communication with the owner. Loved our time by the lake

Thanks Ben, communication is key to a good experience. We were in Boston recently for our son graduation from Harvard and rented a Home Away house. There were some initial issues, but the owner was quick to respond. The thing to remember is that you are renting a someone's home, not a room. There are plus's and minus's to both, but give me a lake front rental home any time! A quick response is the difference and key to an enjoyable experience. Summer Time Pike Fishing Vacation
The lake view was beautiful, particularly in the mornings and evenings with the Loons present. The fishing was great. The cabin was great. The only negative was not being able to have the kids swim at the dock area due to the large snapper turtles.

Papa Bear was "just right!"
Papa Bear was "just the right size" for our group. We happen to be there the weekend of the Perseids meteor shower, to sit on the boat and watched the shooting stars was fantastic!

Relaxing, fun time on the lake!
Marc was very welcoming and informative upon our arrival to Papa Bear. We utilized the pontoon and little fishing boats and had an awesome time. The hot tub was a great addition to our stay! The loons were so neat to see and hear and the lake was so peaceful. Marc even had a high chair for our baby to use! We would love to come back to this lovely property!

What makes that location special is the beauty of the lake and the area. The Loons, Bald Eagles, Bears and fishing add to the nice accommodations in which to view them. I served for over 20 years on the Oakland Twp Board, and our seal motto was "Curamus Terram" which is Latin for Caretakers of the Earth. I look at my role as being just the Caretaker for other generations. You guys were awesome guests and I hope you can come back to enjoy any of my 4 houses up there. Maybe Clear Lake next time? Relaxing quiet weekend
We have had the opportunity to stay at a few of Marc's rentals. Papa bear is a spacious comfortable home. We enjoyed our weekend at Papa bear and would recommend it to anyone looking in the Atlanta area. The new deck is beautiful. We enjoyed the large yard and fishing from the dock. Always enjoy hearing the loons. Marc is very accommodating and makes sure that his guests have whatever is necessary for them to enjoy their stay. Thank you for having us.

Thanks for the feedback guys! Each house is very unique and you have stayed in the largest {Papa Bear) and the smallest (Baby Bear), so you have a unique perspective. The new Trex's deck on Papa Bear has two different levels so you get a great view from either deck. Now all 4 houses have awesome decks, all built in and around trees, so there's no lack of a good view. Guest's always seem to decompress up there from the rat race of urban America. My two cents!
