We thought we would book Hoar Cross for our wedding as a treat as we were getting married nearby. However Hoar Cross Hall was honestly one of the worst experiences of booking & customer services that we’ve ever experienced. Positives: lovely grounds and the rooms are really nice too. Negatives: - No free cancellation or discount for booking multiple rooms - Didn’t allow other guests to book without purchasing an extortionate spa break they weren’t able to use - Said they didn’t have cots, so we brought our own only to find they were in the room after all - Refused to allow babies into the restaurant without us booking a private room for £100 and even then could only order from set menu at £50 per head. - There was a leak at breakfast which landed on my head - If you take a shower early in the morning there isn’t any cold water, meaning my wife had to have a scolding shower on the morning of our wedding. Maintenance were called and they said there was nothing they could do - Breakfast service was incredibly slow with us having to ask multiple times for things we’d already asked for. - We had to have a time slot for breakfast which didn’t work with our wedding timings. - Concierge offered help and so was asked 3 times to help with bags and help never arrived. - Check in was incredibly slow (40 min wait) -frustrating 3rd party customer service instead of dealing direct.

On this note thank you for your kind words regarding our grounds and rooms. I must apologise if there was mis-communication from our side regarding the availability of cots. We do have a limited number of cots available and I'm so sorry you were inconvenienced in bringing your own when we were able to provide this for you. As a spa retreat we do find that the majority of guests are looking to join us to enjoy the extensive facilities we have on offer and as such our available rates reflect this and ensure they include use of the spa facilities. I do hope that you had a lovely wedding day following your departure from us and we have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future.

Excellent staff but let down by receptionist.
The hotel was lovely and the staff during the evening meal were fantastic. A special thanks to Ollie who looked after us. The only downside was that I had a dirty towel in the bath room which I quickly put to one side and then I woke to a bill which had been pushed under my door the night before I was due to leave and I had already paid on hotels.com. When I raised it at reception, whislt they said the words, sorry, I was left waiting while they made a phonecall and then had the audacity to tell me not to worry, they would sort it out for me. I was not worried at all, as I had paid and if they had taken the amount again from my credit card, I would have been extremely cross. This kind of spoilt my stay a little as it made me feel as though I was trying to pull a fast one. You need to get the process sorted for when we do pay beforehand on different sites. Thank you

Roasting hot rooms. Can’t control the temperatures. Phone doesn’t work in room Terrible service. Don’t bring a whole meal and forget to say food is off the menus If you don’t pay for the spa and it’s booked you can’t use any of the facilities at all. Even if you are willing to pay. It’s just a hotel with a restaurant With terrible service. Friend asked for a bowl of porridge - got a bowl of dried porridge oats Repeated twice to different people I believe I have booked in for next week. Zero desire to return . Had sunglasses delivered by Amazon. Asked if they had been delivered . Told nothing. Asked to check. Porter said no and asked for photo proof. There was none it said “handed to resident” Concierge “well we’re not a resident are we?” I had to ask twice for him to go and check once! When he realised I wasn’t taking no for an answer .. he went to check and returned with my parcel. If you stay don’t get anything posted there unless you can Guarantee photo evidence

Not 4 star had to recommend.
Looks like 4 star but scratch beneath the service and its mote like 3. The little things matter and this plave lacked the detail. The fire alarm went off in the early hours on both mornings. Very annoying. I'd actually hesitate to recommend. The building is beautiful.

Always a pleasure to go to my favourite spa outstanding polite staff, immaculately clean, the best in my eyes, but all have different likes in life. I have been going for 16 years so I think it tells a story lots of changers but for the good most of them. Look forward to my next stay.

February spring break
We did book late, the advertisement says the rooms have nice views, we were facing a brick wall Also there was a roof balcony outside out bedroom room 225, this was covered in dog ends, I mentioned this twice at reception but the dog ends were not removed Well the shower would not drain away properly, when I investigated the plug was chock a block with hairs, these shower plugs r supposed to be cleaned weekly this had clearly not been cleaned in a long time, I left the plug for the cleaner who did not clean it very thoroughly so I cleaned it again myself. however this did not sort the shower problem. Apart from this our stay was ok, but for £100 a night one expects a higher standard.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was very dusty and parts of the hotel could do with with a bit of paint and attention. I love the spa it’s always so relaxing.

This is the fourth time we have visited Hoar Cross Hall and we loved our visit. The spa facilities are excellent and we enjoyed an excellent evening meal and breakfast. The room was lovely as always.

Had the most fabulous five days at Hoar Cross. Stunning building, food and gardens. The spa was sensational despite being busy we went over Christmas time. All the staff were super friendly which made it even more pleasurable.

Left more stressed than we did when we arrived
Hoar Cross Hall could be quite exceptional if it was given some attention by management but I generally found that my stay was mediocre at best. Firstly, the room walls are paper thin. You can hear everything in the adjoining room as unfortunately for us, it was a very loud couple who used the jazzuci both into the early hours and then at the crack of dawn. With respect to the rooms, they are in desperate need for some TLC. Examples include mold & mildew in the bathroom with peeling sealant around the sink and taps. The same goes for the public toilets on group floor. The fact that they were still advertising events that were 2 months out of date in the toilets just went to show how often they paid attention in there. The hotel and spa facilities are NOT cheap. At £39 per person to use the spa on top of the £250 a night rate, we found the spa so oversubscribed, nearly every where we went, we couldn't get in because there were too many people, i.e. steam room, sauna, break out areas etc. Considering how very little we could use the facilities, we actually felt quite robbed. The food in the restaurant was good but the table placements were much to be desired. We were placed on a small table at the end of the dining hall by a doorway which had people walking by every so many minutes. To be honest, we went there to destress but unfortunately we left feeling more stressed than when we arrived.

We had a long wait to Check in on our first day and on departure. We were not told that the elevator was out of order and the steps to the first floor were difficult for us. Our room was not serviced at all on our second day and was serviced very late and only after requesting it on our first day. Our dirty dishes were not collected from our table at meal times. The chairs around the spa pools were uncomfortable - if you were lucky to get one. The workers were very friendly but not properly trained. The treatment table was not stable and rocked throughout the massage.

The spa area was brilliant. However, the classic bedrooms were very very dated. Much needed renovation needed for these older bedrooms. Unless we return to a newer bedroom, we won't be returning.

Great setting, good food, lovely decor and beautiful grounds; but disappointing service. Too many inexperienced youngsters, typical British attitude to service - low paid, low expectation levels all round. Portray yourself as 4 star but fail to deliver on the detail time and again. From check in, room mix ups, lack of concierge, (Especially as the lifts were out of order), very poor beer selection ( so corporate, so off point - do you not actually want to sell anything ?) , non existent service levels during the day ( too many people tied up trying to sell wedding packages by the looks of it). It felt like it boiled down to a lack of proactive management on the ground - no maitre d‘ function/responsibility to be seen

Hoars Cross Hall rebranded as BE
We have visited here at least 10 times and booked again for my Wife’s Birthday as previously enjoyed our stays. We usually book 2-4 nights at a time. We were very surprised this time that on check out at 11am we are no longer able to use the facilities for the rest of the day unless we pay another £49 each until 3pm. In effect if you book one night you check in at 3pm and have to leave in the morning by 11am only giving a few hours use in the spa. Please consider this when booking as we were prepared to stay all day on check out but were very disappointed it would have cost an extra £98 for a further 4 hours. The food is excellent as always, the facilities are good. The bed we had was not comfortable as it was joined together in the middle making it very uncomfortable. The service is not the 100% it used to be. Will review other spas before booking again.
