What can I say?
All the other reviews (save for the 1) say it all. Kristi and Doug were fantastic hosts, being present to all our needs, but respectful of our privacy and space. The house is better than it looks in the pics.
Kristi even went out of her way to visit a local clinic after finding out we were having trouble finding a place to get our required Covid tests to return to the states.
The pool was the perfect temp, and either Doug or Luis were there every morning to make sure it was cleaned for the day.
Howler monkeys in the trees, an iguana in the front, and magpie jays hanging out in back (picture a cross between a macaw and a blue jay) just enhanced our experience. The grounds are lush and tropical and well man
The neighborhood is gated at night for security, and there are a few nice bars and restaurants that are walking distance, and the beach is probably 1/4 mile away or so. But we felt safe 24/7.
And there are 2 really good restaurants a short drive from the house, Huerto's and Pots and Bowls.
The house itself has everything you would need and was well-balanced between modern luxury and tico-style. And we had absolutely no issues with water as another mentioned. Plenty of it, great pressure, and plenty of hot water (and my 2 teen girls can put that to the test!)
The only thing that would have made the experience a tad better would be TVs in all the bedrooms (only 1 has one, and it's not the master).
And the only things to be aware of are there are 6 bats that live under the roof overhang near the doors the master bedroom (which is detached from the main house and has an outside walkway to it).
They didn't bother me, but my daughters were a little nervous and there was a little bat guano by the doors.
And there are a lot of bees that hang out near the pool since there are flowering bushes along the back edge of the pool. And no one got stung or anything, but if you're allergic. it might be good to take precautions.
Lastly, the road to Playa Grande is a little rough (dirt mostly). Not that it's not typical of a lot of roads in Costa Rica, but it does get pretty bumpy.
But I would have no hesitations whatsoever staying here again, and if it ever came up for sale . . . . !
