This is a cozy property in a very rural setting. The host is extremely responsive and very thorough. It is quiet and private. The furniture and bed are very comfortable. The wood burning stove is a pellet stove which provides enough heat to take the edge off. The hot tub could comfortably fit 4 people. The Village of Cold Spring is less than 10 minutes away, as is the Interstate 84 bridge across the Hudson. If you want to make your own food, bring it. There is no grocery store nearby.

Lovely place to stay
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this property. Our dog absolutely loved the backyard! Check in was easy and the accommodations were very comfortable. Quick drive into town and great nature preserve right across the street. I would highly recommend this property and would love to come back again!

Peaceful setting
My dog and I enjoyed our stay. The big fenced yard was a major plus. Ruben was always responsive, the place was very clean, and the setting very quiet.

Perfect getaway
Mellow spot with a wonderful backyard for our dog to goof off in. It was perfect for a two-day break from the city with some nice hikes and creature comforts. We're hoping to head back again soon.

Great place
Place was as advertised. Very cool space very comfortable. The mesquitos were out of control! But cant blame anyone, its August in the woods pretty unavoidable. The Property Manager was very responsive to us. Any time we contacted him, he got back to us very quickly. Had a great time!

Wonderful place to unwind and explore!
This spot had everything we needed for a fun and adventurous respite! Ruben was very responsive and accommodating. Highly recommend Canopus Lake for kayaking and swimming. Beware that swimming is only allowed on the lower side of the lake - the side by the sandy beach.

Great location to explore the Hudson River Valley
It was awesome to walk out the door, cross the street and have scenic reserve across the street. Jump in the car and in no time be in the charming villages of Cold Spring or Beacon. The cottage worked very well for my husband, adult daughter and me, oh can't forget our dog Ricco! Enjoyed our stay and would return!

awesome upstate get away
I stayed here with my 1 year old son and dog while my wife was working a few days in the area. We loved it! Super relaxing, calm and tranquil space. The fire place was lovely, and they even had a handful of baby gates already there for us to use. The fenced in back yard was great for the dog and baby to run around, and I could even sit in the hot tub and monitor the baby while he played in the sand pit. 10/10 would come back again.

Short getaway from the city
Fantastic little barn. Cozy and clean. Hot tub was amazing. My only wish was a few essential kitchen items were not available but it does not take away from my 5* stay. Thank you to the host and I hope we are invited back!

Warm Winter break
We enjoyed another quiet weekend away in the Barn in Cold Spring with our pups! Weather was spectacular while here! We enjoyed local hiking and shopping in the village in the warm weather. We were impressed with the upgrades to the yard and property; however, the only drawback was when we planned a quiet bbq dinner one evening, there wasn’t a propane tank for the grill. We simply improvised and used the oven to cook instead. We look forward to returning soon!

Perfect Getaway Cottage
We stayed over the holidays and it was absolutely ideal. The side yard is wonderful especially with a dog (we brought ours). The property stayed perfectly warm and Raul even brought us extra pellets for the fire stove without us asking! It was all wonderful and as advertised, book it!

Very nice
The cottage was perfect for a quiet getaway. I had an issue with the hot tub and Ruben had it addressed ASAP. He is very responsive. The town of Cold Spring is a 5 minute drive and a great little town. I would definitely go back.

Great Escape
Everything was as advertised. What can't be advertised is the quiet. We could hear a single leaf fall through the tree while having coffee on the back deck. Communication with the host was prompt and clear. If you want a place to get away from people and noise this is it.

Sweet nostalgic cottage/bungalow
This is a great spot for a couple or single traveler with dogs. The fenced in yard was a perfect size for sitting by the fire and watching the sun go down. The oversized wood fence makes the space very private with little to no sight of passerbys. The space was perfect for 2 of us plus our 2 small/medium dogs. The rental is a converted garage so the floor is painted concrete with lots of throw rugs. Slippers/slides are recommended. The stairs to the king sized bed upstairs are very steep (like old attic stairs) and may not be easy for everyone to navigate. The bathroom is very small but for a 2 day stay, it was fine. The owner is very communicative and all arrangements were via VRBO app which was perfect. We would rent this location again.

This renovated garage was extremely cute and innovative in the decorating. Very comfortable and beautiful backyard. Our only suggestion is to cover the skylights above the bed. The light was extremely bright for taking a nap and waking up in the morning.

Great location for a quiet stay in Cold Spring, NY
We didn’t enjoy our stay fully because the space smelled quite musty like mildew or a room that had been closed for a long time. The bed was somewhat comfortable but there were several bugs found on it. In addition to this, we didn’t like that the door leading into the main first floor room could not be properly locked and so only the outside door could be locked from the inside. We also didn’t like that’s the staircase leading up to the loft area had narrow steps so you really have to be careful walking up and down as well as there not being a handrail to hold on to while walking.

Great place for a weekend of hiking
The place was everything as promised. We were hiking and out for most of the day, but when we were in for the evening this nice and cozy place was perfect for us. The owner is very responsive and gave great information. I would recommend to whoever wants to spend some time in the Hudson Valley.

The woods and the music!
This was a lovely property for a short getaway with two grown-ups and two dogs. The nature preserve across the street was absolutely beautiful, we loved hiking it several times each day. And the music! The host is so generous to share a huge record and CD collection - we had so much fun choosing albums and building a soundtrack for our stay. The space and surroundings were lovely, the music made it spectacular.

My favorite stay ever
I have been traveling and renting places for years. There are good and bad. This place was the cutest, most thoughtful & comfortable couples getaway I ever had. The hosts were honestly cherries on top. I have never experienced such considerate host. My Swiss is super particular and even he was in awe. I'd honesty say if you are considering the place don't dwell upon it. Book it. You will not regret it.

Super Bowl weekend
Mr Vahos is a great host with patience of a Saint. Whenever needed he responds right away.makes sure everything is up to your satisfaction. Property and location are perfect for visiting the area , walking in woods , shopping village of Cold Spring . We have stayed a few times and looking forward to staying here again. Highly recommend this retreat.

Ruben runs the place and keeps in good touch with you and is very accommodating. We stayed in what he calls the barn, it was quaint, quiet and beautiful, we will definitely be coming back here.

Cozy house in a great setting
My husband and I stayed here for the week and it was great! Very comfortable and homey, great internet. The road was very low-traffic and there were some cool ruins and a nice lake across the street. We took a couple of short hikes around the lake and saw lots of beaver activity.
