Nice Lakeside Cottage
This was a great cottage! It features a beautiful back patio overlooking a small arm of Lake of Egypt. One thing to know: the kitchen is downstairs, and the stairs inside the cottage are a metal spiral staircase; if you're bringing in groceries, you'll probably want to carry them in through the door downstairs. There's a meat smoker (no propane grill or anything like that, but the meat smoker is very straightforward to use). With three bedrooms, it's most comfortable if you fit in with just those, but we had more people and made it work -- we still had a lovely time. Beautiful area: check out Makanda and Giant City State Park while you're in Southern IL, or go fishing on Lake of Egypt!

Yearly Family Getaway
The pool was wonderful! The beds were comfortable. The upstairs living room was very nice. We spent most evenings up there. Lake Egypt was clean and fishing, boating and kayaking were great! We left the grill and charcoal for the next guests. Wish the downstairs area was better arranged for larger groups (there were 9 of us). Switching out the bed for the couches would be a good start. Then the table could be placed in an area that is easier to access.

Strange layout
This property is not for someone who cannot do stairs. The kitchen is down a spiral staircase in the basement while the living area is upstairs. The dock is located with no water (so no fishing there) and zero view of the lake with the stairs down to the dock unsafe. The pool and upstairs were nice but we felt like we were constantly going up and down stairs to get a drink or snack. The host was very nice and extremely helpful with our questions.

Quiet Country Retreat
This is the second year my family has stayed at this property. The property is clean and well maintained. The pool offered plenty of space for our group of 12. The option to use the dock is very convenient if you are bringing your boat or renting one like we did. The host is friendly and very responsive and lives nearby. We truly enjoyed our time here!

Nice property, it just didn’t work well for us
The property was very nice, and was exactly as it was depicted in the description. However, we experienced several snags during our trip. No instructions ever mentioned that it was the upstairs back door that would be the entry door to the property. We had to search to find how to get in. We were never able to find the accessible boat dock from the water. Directions from the marina to the property would have been nice. We knew about the spiral staircase, but it was much more of a hindrance than we could have imagined. Most of us ended up going outside to get to the upstairs. The kitchen was not set up for 8 people. There was not enough silverware and there was no mixer that we could find. When we left, all the doors locked from the inside, so we had to leave one door unlocked when we left. The saving grace was the pool. We all enjoyed it immensely. Again, this was a very nice property, it was just not good for our particular family and could have had clearer instructions on some of the details.

Lovely Pool
We had a great time hanging out in the pool. The pool was clean and the perfect temp, we never wanted to get out. We had a couple scares, wolf spider downstairs and a huge snake on the top deck, but just be aware! The beds were comfy and we had a great time at many wineries.

Lovely home in a quiet neighborhood
Couldn't have slept any better at home very comfy cozy beds. A full size mirror would have been nice as we were there for our daughters wedding and the lack of any clocks was disconcerting as we were on a tight schedule. But truly enjoyed our stay. Not a place for someone with physical disabilities as the spiral staircase would be difficult.

Can't wait to come back again
The house was great. The layout was really nice. Lots of places to stretch out and relax. Everything is decorated beautifully. The pool was incredible. One of the days we were there the temp was over 100 degrees. The pool felt great. I like how when we weren't using it with a flip of a switch you can cover and uncover the pool. One day while we were there it rained almost all day. I went out on the deck and sat on the outdoor sectional. It was so peaceful. Never got wet. I pretty much stayed on the top floor while my son took over the lower level. I called it the bachelor pad. My son was.likr MOM I have a girlfriend....yes but you aren't married. Lol The owners were fast to respond with any questions or concerns we had. Highly recommend staying here.

Good spot for a short stay
We really enjoyed the pool and the house was very comfortable. A life preserver would be a great addition to the pool amenities for emergencies. And some fly swatters for the horseflies! 😀

Lake access and pool-best of both worlds!
We had a great time on our annual family trip at this location. There was plenty of room for us all to have our own space and the pool was a huge hit! The hosts were friendly and prompt with response. This was a great experience!

Wow!
Wow! This place was great. The pool was amazing. The kids said the slide was super fast. We enjoyed sitting out and all the wildlife we saw. There were several wineries and a distillery. We learned there was “adult” ice cream a little too late to try. Several great hiking places. The property manager was so quick to get back to us. The only suggestion members of the family had was a mini fridge upstairs, my mom doesn’t do stairs super well. We highly recommend this place.

Family getaway
The weekend was so great and the place is a great getaway the family and I really enjoyed ourselves and the pool was a great perk. The house was perfect for the whole family and the host was even better we will definitely be back.

Great Lake stay
This was a wonderful rental. Beautiful views and a awesome pool. I can’t say enough how much we loved the extras. Towels, coffee, toiletries, extra blankets…all the little things that feel like home. Beds were comfortable and cozy. Would absolutely recommend.

Great family getaway
I spent 3 nights here with my family, we have a 4 and 7 year old. They loved the pool; the slide was the highlight of the trip for sure. We planned on hiking and fishing in the area more, but we came during a heat wave. The house was clean and the owner was very responsive when VRBO failed to send us the check-in info over email. We really appreciate the amount of beach towels and the coffee selection. All the neighbors are very nice and wave to you when you’re chilling at the pool. Overall a great little getaway.

Great Family Vacation

The Best Weekend
Kristine was so responsive to all of our questions and the property is wonderful. We had a girls' weekend and the days spent by the pool were perfect. The house was beyond stocked with everything we needed. We are already planning a trip back!

Very pleasant stay
The layout of this property is different than most properties but it's clean, comfortable, and nicely decorated. We really enjoyed staying here and my kids have already asked to come back when the pool is open. I would recommend.

Nice House, Easy Transaction, Nice Neighbor Dog
The neighbor's dog Foxxy came over to check on us every morning and evening. Very sweet and polite creature. We appreciated the coffee. The upper floor with living room and bedrooms is perfectly comfortable - nice bed and quality bedding. The downstairs layout is a little odd, but workable. It's a kitchen/living room/bedroom?/dining room all in one space. Not a lot of head-room down there, and the lighting was not great, but the kitchen was well equipped and clean, easy to navigate.

Everything we needed
We were super thankful this was turn key and the basics that you need for showering, coffee (a must for most of the adults) etc were there. We stayed with my brother and his family so a total of 11 people and it was comfortable to live there for the 3 nights. I have a larger family 5 kids and then myself and my husband and there was plenty of space for us all. They really enjoyed the swing set and would have enjoyed the pool if we were there during the right season for it. There were challenges on our trip with no internet and a water boil order was in place. But neither of those issues really effected us since we always bring bottled water with us (being a bigger family) and we were there for a funeral so the internet wasn’t really needed. We just needed a space for our family to stay and visit with other family while we were there and this house was great for that! The host was very responsive whenever we had a question.
