I recently came to Gaiole for a legal conference. The rest of the group were all staying at a more famous much more expensive resort a few km away but because I booked late I was not able to get a room there. I booked Pieve Marsina because it was the next closest hotel to the conference and I was not sure what to expect. The rest of my group did not either, since they were all staying at a five star resort and I seemed to be staying at some off the beaten path hotel.
However, by the end of our respective stays, they were all jealous of my experience and wished they had booked La Pieve Marsina. While they were all disappointed with their five star resort I have become aware of the best kept secret in Chianti and maybe all of Italy.
The minute I emerged from the surrounding countryside and saw the resort I became faintly aware of just how lucky I had gotten. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained, surrounded by vineyards and rolling hills, more than once I just sat outside for an hour or two, enjoying a coffee or glass of wine and soaking it all in. As soon as I arrived Gabrielle was there to greet me and help take my luggage to my room (which was less a room and more a giant villa all to myself). Gabrielle was always available to help and was sincerely one of the nicest people I’ve ever met. Thank you Gabrielle.
I had an absolutely fantastic stay here, and I can’t wait to come back.
