Looking for a quiet and quick place to rest our heads for 1 night
Not what we expected. Lots of decor things have been added to the small room - different chairs, lots of decoration pillows, Frig, coffee maker, etc. Not a lot of room for guest stuff once you move all the decor pillows to the chair and floor. No place to set suitcase, no closet (few hangers), and no bathroom counter space for guests personal items. Pictures online are not updated to show it is full of things. I wanted to see if I made a mistake thinking it was a bit more open. The owner did work with us on check out time we appreciated that. Be sure you understand if owner will communicate by text or through VRBO. We missed a message when the owner went from test to VRBO messages after texting us all other access info. We arrived after midnight (there was no street parking at that time) and they allowed us to extend from 10am to 11:30am check out. This is where we missed the message from the owner, they offered us to park in the driveway - but we did not see the message. I was checking my texts but did not open the VRBO communication. We ended up leaving early because the dogs kept us up after we arrived and woke us up the next morning. The owner did apologized by text. The three dogs were very active in the morning. The place was quaint and very different from our other stays with VRBO - if you are a garden and plant lover - who want to sit in a patio area. This may be just the place for you. Ours was a very unique situation flying in and out for a memorial service and we personally need some peace and quiet. Bed was nice, Shower was good. Not sure we would stay again - it was not our cup of tea. Lots of things right. Which is why we gave it a good rating.

Great place, terrible parking
My sister and I loved the backyard. It was absolutely GORGEOUS. There was some hairbands and things under the bed, but besides that it was very clean! The bed was very comfortable, and the bathroom was very nice. The host was very nice, and she was a huge help in giving us ideas of things to do. The worst thing about our stay was definitely parking. The owner asks we don't park in the driveway, but her partner parks in front of the house and she has another room she rents out, so the parking on the street is almost impossible to find.

The supreme oasis for our honeymoon
The backyard is a pure oasis that transports you to a Zen-tastic land & the hospitality was out of this world! We are ONLY going to stay with Karen when we return to Long Beach!!!

Comfortable and clean. Karen is very prompt with answering questions and making sure you have everything you need. Finding parking can be tricky but Karen offered up her driveway to help.

Delightful and welcoming!
From the day I booked this location to the minute I said goodbye, Karen was nothing but kind, thoughtful, and so accommodating! She was wonderful about communicating with me before my arrival and throughout it. The place and its surroundings were just delightful. My kids came to pick me up each morning and it was a wonderful experience for them as well. The backyard is an urban paradise with hummingbirds and butterflies galore. Victor, co-owner with Karen, does an amazing job taking care of the gardens and the property. Karen has a netted habitat on her deck for the caterpillars to cocoon and emerge into the beautiful monarch butterflies. Not only did we watch this process, but got to help release them as well, it was amazing! My kids had just moved to Long Beach only weeks before and she was just so welcoming and kind to us all. Her little dog, Monkey, was a lot of fun too! The accommodations were so cozy and welcoming. I had plenty of space to put my personal belongings and the bed was super comfy. The home is located in a lovely and safe neighborhood. I would like to address some comments made in a previous review. Karen has given me permission to mention that she has Parkinson’s. Be assured that this in no way hinders her from being an amazing and attentive host. When we arrived she had a plastic cast on her arm due to a fall. Her arm had been broken in 2 places. She has an amazing and positive outlook on life and it was a pleasure staying in her home. I would most definitely recommend this delightful retreat!

Once in a Lifetime Trip
This was my once in a lifetime trip to meet my son that I have not seen in 43 years. I would have been happy with a clean and safe place to stay, but this was so much more than that. Karen's property is beautiful and peaceful, the atmosphere here is zen like, one can feel the passion that has gone into the place inside and out. The butterfly's and cocoons are amazing to see, truly a once in a lifetime experience for me that I'm glad Karen was a part of. I will definitely be back!

Quaint place
Parking can be a chore, but everything else was up to par. Nice and peaceful yard and clean studio. Owner is very polite and accommodating. Monkey and Mila got along very well.

With everybody at home due to covid I can see where you would think it was a bit tight that's why I gave you the driveway. I really enjoyed Happy New Year and I'm glad that your puppy and monkey got along so well! Hopefully I'll see you again soon

AMAZING & LIFE CHANGING EXPERIENCE
This is going to be long so get ready! KAREN IS AMAZINGGG! The first night I checked in she made me cry because her spirit is so loving, welcoming, and caring! She was available ANYTIME and everytime I needed her. She knew about the area very well she also helped me find places to hang out with my puppy. She treated my dog like her very own, and her friendly dog did the same as well! She's definitely a clean freak, which is needed around these times, and she is so sweet and accommodating it's unbelievable! Karen not only made me feel welcomed but like family! There is so much that this woman has helped me with during my stay, I know that I didn't cover everything but that is the gist of it. Thank you so much Karen ! We love you and will definitely be staying with you AGAIN!

Cozy!
We stayed for a quick weekend, just came into town for a wedding. Karen’s backyard is to die for! It is beautiful, cozy and quaint. She is an amazing host. The room was perfect for my husband and I. We hope to visit again and spend more time in the backyard. Monkey is a fun co-host. :)

Enjoyable Stay
Everything was very nice and enjoyed our stay. Karen greeted us upon arrival and answered all our questions and gave suggestions on very good restaurants and directions on where to go. Very nice neighborhood and beautiful back yard sitting area where I experienced my first earthquake, which definitely got my attention. Very nice Place👍

Lovely studio with great yard and pets
We booked the studio for a conference held at the long beach convention center. The studio is clean, organized with all that we need, hence we enjoyed a great conference. The pets together with a decent yard make the stay more fun. will definitely come back

Great stay!
What a wonderful property! I had a great stay and Karen was a fantastic hostess. Monkey, the pup, was a plus. The room was well appointed and furnished with all the amenities you could need. I am very picky about cleanliness and have been known to leave if rooms are dirty.....this place was spotless. I felt comfortable, welcomed, and safe. I will definitely stay here again when I visit LA in the future!!

I would tell everyone I know to use this property. It is beautiful, immaculately clean and in a great location. Karen is THE BEST owner and takes care of all your needs before you can even ask!! She was even kind enough to check in on my pets while I was out. She goes above and beyond and I greatly appreciated her.

Cozy and convenient
We had a very relaxing and productive time staying with Karen and her charming dog Monkey. The backyard is a great place to unwind, soak up the sun, or let your pet stretch its legs. The neighborhood is very walkable too, with interesting Spanish style homes from around 1930. There are several eateries and a grocery store about a 15 minute walk away as well. Karen is very helpful and welcoming.

Private, pet friendly room with accommodating host
Fantastic location in Long Beach with private entrance to the room and a spacious, fenced in lovely backyard area. I brought my small dog Murphy and the owner couldn't have been more helpful with anything we needed during our stay. The room is cozy, has adequate storage and nice bathroom adjacent to the room. Highly recommend this location for anyone passing through or in need of longer term rental. Karen really wants to make you feel comfortable and is happy to offer up any local food/bev suggestions you could want! Would definitely stay again.

Very comfortable, friendly, clean and inviting.
A very nice experience overall. We went walking in the late evening and enjoyed the area and liked looking at the charm of this neighborhood. Suggestion: a full-length mirror would be nice.

Perfect in every way
Loved our stay, Karen and Monkey were very accommodating of both me and Freckles... great location in quiet neighborhood and centrally located. Would love to stay here again and would recommend it to anyone looking for a more private and relaxing "hotel expierence". Felt like staying at a friends home...

Fantastic place and host!
Great place and neighborhood ! Really clean and comfy room, very relaxing garden feels almost secluded. The room has great privacy, comfy bed, super clean and very well organized. Great location and proximity to an awesome craft brewery. Karen is a superb host, very responsive, helpful and hospitable, with us and our pup had a great time with her fur baby, Monkey. Hope to be back someday =)

Great place for a quick trip
Karen was wonderful and so was her cute dog, Monkey. The location worked out well for my visit to family in the area. The bathroom is luxurious and the backyard is a wonderful oasis. I didn’t do anything there but sleep, which is all you really could do there. The room consists of a comfortable bed and a nice TV but no sitting area or desk. Adding that would be my only suggestion!

I apologize. There are two chairs in the room to sit on in a fold-out desk in the closet I should have pointed that out to you along with an iron and extra supplies

Great getaway room!
It was a great stay that I really enjoyed! Very clean and peaceful. Owner is very pleasant and always asks if you need anything. Has very nice animals that you see once in a while walking the backyard. Recommend for anything looking for a little getaway room for a couple days or intern housing like I did! Wifi worked great and tv has movie channels! Wish the room was a little cooler with the AC but other then that it was great!

The owner went out of their way to make sure our stay was just right for us. Flowers and dog treats in the room was a really nice welcoming! The backyard is a beautiful place to hang out , we love the way the room was decorated, it had all we needed and more.

Cozy & Comfy
I stayed here over Christmas weekend with my dog to be close to family for the Christmas holiday. The neighborhood and the house are both very charming and easily accessible to the freeway. Karen, the owner, is fabulous. She greeted us upon arrival and made us feel welcome. She had treats ready for my dog, and instantly bonded with her. (Side note: my dog doesn't do well when it is windy and ended up howling while I was out. Karen, with my ok, went in and calmed her down) The room itself is nicely furnished and incredibly comfortable. Although it is part of the main house, it has a separate private entrance from the shared back yard. Karen left coffee, snacks and bottled water in the mini fridge and a jar of treats for my dog. Would definitely stay again next time I'm in the area.
