From the day I booked this location to the minute I said goodbye, Karen was nothing but kind, thoughtful, and so accommodating! She was wonderful about communicating with me before my arrival and throughout it. The place and its surroundings were just delightful. My kids came to pick me up each morning and it was a wonderful experience for them as well. The backyard is an urban paradise with hummingbirds and butterflies galore. Victor, co-owner with Karen, does an amazing job taking care of the gardens and the property. Karen has a netted habitat on her deck for the caterpillars to cocoon and emerge into the beautiful monarch butterflies. Not only did we watch this process, but got to help release them as well, it was amazing! My kids had just moved to Long Beach only weeks before and she was just so welcoming and kind to us all. Her little dog, Monkey, was a lot of fun too! The accommodations were so cozy and welcoming. I had plenty of space to put my personal belongings and the bed was super comfy. The home is located in a lovely and safe neighborhood.
I would like to address some comments made in a previous review. Karen has given me permission to mention that she has Parkinson’s. Be assured that this in no way hinders her from being an amazing and attentive host. When we arrived she had a plastic cast on her arm due to a fall. Her arm had been broken in 2 places. She has an amazing and positive outlook on life and it was a pleasure staying in her home.
I would most definitely recommend this delightful retreat!
