Shepherdstown is a historic and artsy college town that balances natural beauty with a quirky, bohemian culture. Visit West German St in the heart of town to explore historic sites, boutique shopping, quality restaurants, and other amenities.

Less than a two hour drive from the hustle and bustle of Washington DC, but a getaway that feels like being in another universe surrounded by big trees, water, nature preserves, and historic sites. The house is a perfect place for a family or adventurous travelers who enjoy activities such as kayaking, canoeing, swimming, tubing, paddle boarding, fishing, hiking, biking or cave tours.

The waterfront house has gorgeous views for every season overlooking the serene water and the C&O canal tow path (no houses or unsightly buildings across the river). Visitors have the chance to shop local farmers markets, go riding at the Whitings Neck Equestrian Center directly across the street, explore history in the surrounding area, and have a chance to experience the charming Shepherdstown complete with cool coffee shops, bookstores, an array of restaurants, artisan stores, yoga and reiki studios.

Peaceful and relaxing
My stay was supposed to be with a small group of friends for my birthday. Unfortunately Mother Nature had other ideas. So it turned into a solo get away. I couldn’t image a better retreat. The owner was very responsive and clear. The house exceptionally clean and equipped. Property was ready when I arrived, and check in was simple and easy. Lots of wildlife watching. The hot tub was fantastic. I can’t wait to visit in the warmer months to take advantage of all the outside amenities. But if you’re looking for a quiet winter retreat, this is the place.

Getaway in the Woods
We booked this stay as a girls trip with the plan of it being a quiet, peaceful, relaxing weekend to disconnect from our busy lives, and the house was exactly what we needed! The view from the living room upstairs is amazing, every morning I watched the sun come up in the river valley and burn off the fog. The bedrooms were perfect for what we needed with varying degrees of firmness in the matresses. The hot tub was very enjoyable. We felt like we weee secluded enough to enjoy the peace and privacy of the place while not being too far away from a store or gas station if we needed something.

Definitely worth a visit!
Beautiful property far away from everything yet close enough to civilization when you want to find it. Very secluded and very private. Spectacular views and surroundings. Property is better than the photos of it online. Our host was great and we could not have had a better visit.

Great Family time
The house was perfect for our small family gathering. It was very clean and well appointed. We really appreciated the "starter" paper goods, soaps, basic seasonings and aluminum foil and saran wrap. The title was misleading, the Potomac River is there, but it is not accessible or even viewable. Host was very responsive to questions.

Amazing view!
When I asked what everyone’s favorite part of the house was everyone said the view. The house was beautiful. The beds were comfortable. The little local treats were a nice surprise and delicious. Everyone loved this house!

The most relaxing time we have ever had.
We had the most amazing weekend getaway here! Sunrise and Sunset are amazing here. Fishing is right there. Spotless clean hot tub! You can tell the water was fresh. You cant lose with this place.
