Thank you for the review. In reply I would have to say that that had the family made the effort to have listened during the handover instructions, some of their difficulties could have been resolved. There was a very marked reluctance to communicate with us, to the point of being dismissive. The house was apparently hot inside because the family kept themselves shut in, with all the windows and doors closed. They had been told during the handover that there was an electric ventilator fan in the dresser and we had another available if required. In the event the fan was not used and we were not asked for a second unit. I would also add that this is the first time we have ever heard anyone complaining that the house was too hot, this does not seem to haver been an issue with previous guests who have been comfortable with windows open to let some air through. The wild fire at no point reached closer than 5 kilometres from the house, and at no point came into the valley. It is true to say that there was a smell of smoke at times, but I dispute that it was ever at the point of causing breathing difficulties. We were constantly in contact about the situation with the Civil Protection, and updated the family on the wild fire, stressing that there was no danger in our area. We did notice that the family seemed to be of a particularly nervous disposition however. After having decided of their own volition to leave two days early, I then received a request to refund one of the two days. I called VRBO Assistance to ask their advice on the matter, and was told I was under no obligation to refund someone who leaves of their own accord. I communicated this with the family and suggested that they contact VRBO directly if they wished to take the matter further. I am sorry they did not enjoy their stay here due to the distant fire. I would also add that all previous guests have rated this property with five stars and have been more than happy with the comfort, quality and setting of the property and also with their dealings with my wife and I, indeed, many of our guest return multiple times.

It was an absolute pleasure having you all stay with us..I hope we see you again at some point in the future. Meantime…Enjoy life!
