Hotel fantasma ma non manca nulla
Entri e non c'è nessuno, accedi alla camera con un codice che ti arriva via e-mail. L'unico addetto dell'hotel l'abbiamo visto durante la colazione (gratis, basic ma piacevole!!). Camera grandissima, bagno pulito. Insomma, sono rimasto molto contento.

L'hotel giusto in questa zona d'Islanda
Buon rapporto qualità prezzo tenuto conto dei costi medi in Islanda. Peccato fosse chiuso il ristorante (avevamo scelto l'hotel perchè aveva anche questo servizio); per cenare abbiamo dovuto fare 10 km. Ottima colazione

Well, there was no staff at all. so make sure you have a phone to call the local number provided to you. one of the phone number they send you on the email will have a wrong phone number on it. (missing a number). the rooms are quiet small but seems to be a normal for the area.

Could have been better.
Do not like the idea of being sent a code for access. We never received any code. Hotel told us they always send out codes, but Hotels.co often do not pass them on to guests. Also sending a code by email is pointless when you are out in the hills and no Wi-Fi coverage. Tried telephoning the hotel, to receive a message try later. Really not helpful. Transpires they do not answer phone till after 1600. Would have been helpful to know that.

Liked the location of the property and it was convenient. However booking a Mountain View and got the street view and they refused to change the room. Very poor customer service. Expedia let me know in this aspect too. They didn’t fix it, neither did they refund the money.

Overall good
Our stay at the North Star was mostly positive. The room was large, very clean and comfortable. However, the shower in the bathroom is only enclosed by a shower curtain and requires you to squeegee the walls and floor off. An example of Scandinavian minimalism. The check in process is very nerve-racking. There is no attendant in the building, and the phone only calls to an answering machine that answered in Icelandic. Luckily, there was a Grayline tour guide checking in at the same time as we were and she was able to navigate the phone system and connect us with someone. The breakfast was a pleasant surprise that was added after our reservation and the staff at breakfast were helpful. You have to be careful on the elevator since it didn’t match up with the floor. The location was very convenient to the national park and Grundarfjordur. In Olafsvik, there is a gorgeous waterfall within walking distance and you can take a whale watch. There is also a good restaurant right across the street.

Check in system is inconvenient. The room is simple but need better furniture and more lightings. Hot drinks are available in the dining room on the first floor. Breakfast is included.

Avoid. Lousy place. No communication. Keyless entry codes not sent by email as per their own instructions. No one answers the phone, responds to texts or returns calls. When the person did answer the phone once she was very unfriendly, almost argumentative. Worn out, blood stained linens. Rough sheets. Uncomfortable beds. It’s as if the place is someone’s side hustle and they don’t care about it. Or you.

Beds were set up for 3 people and we had adequate pillows, bed linen and towels. Bath floor was hard to keep dry from shower spray. Not enough room lighting. Overall, reasonably-priced accommodation. Close to best restaurants in town.

Disappointing. Shower drain didn’t work. You had to mop water to be able to enter bathroom after the shower. Phones didn’t charge overnight as main switch turned off the outlets in the room. The beds were comfortable, breakfast was good.

Comfortable, spacious, nice overnight!
Very comfortable room, spacious and well-located. Breakfast was out on hold for Covid but there was hot coffee waiting in the morning. Great deal for no-frills place (in the best sense, no unnecessary extras). I’d definitely stay there again.

Ordinary hotel at a good location
The hotel is rather nice and in the very center of Olafsvik which is really convenient for the options we had for dining and having a walk around. The rooms are rather ok - they have been renovated recently but seemed to have been getting less attention ever since and are showing some signs of aging already (stains on furniture, cracks on the walls etc.). One point that disappointed us a bit was that the breakfast we had promised was not available (the excuse being the Covid-19 times but this was the only place that had this limitation so it is hard to buy it). NOTE: One thing to remember about this place is that it is fully self-checkin self-checkout with numpad-locks and in order to get your code you have to contact the hotel at the email provided in the description. We have missed that point and would have been a bit puzzled had it not been for one of the people working there happened to be around exactly at that moment and helped us get the code. So keep this in mind if you are visiting as it was not obvious when we booked.

The property needed refurbishment, the room was sparse albeit quite large. The TV did not work and there were no coffee making facilities. The bedding was poor the pillow was virtually flat only one each and no spares of anything. The whole place was uninviting and a disappointment. Breakfast was very basic and served out of original packaging, the people who came in too sort the food were friendly but struggled with English. I would say that this was more of a hostel than a hotel, basic and only just adequate. Whole experience disappointing on a plus side it was in a good location and the cafe Hruan was lovely next door.

Veraltetes, kühl wirkendes Hostel
Bei Ankunft nur eine unfreundliche Mitarbeiterin am Telefon. Zimmer zwar groß komplett gefliest, kein Wasserkocher, eine Dusche die alles nass macht (aber dafür ein Abzieher dabei). Zimmer war sauber aber sehr ungemütlich. Es gab zb deutlich zu wenig Licht. Frühstück war Basic. Der einzige sichtbare Mitarbeiter hatte einen sehr unangenehmen Körpergeruch und hat im Frühstücksraum mit Lautsprecher telefoniert und Videos geschaut. Wir haben zum selben Preis auf Island deutlich bessere Unterkünfte gehabt.

Not fancy, but nice enough
The hotel is in the middle of town and it is within walking distance of 2 restaurants, a local store, and the local waterfall. The hotel itself is just ok. If you are looking for fancy, this is not the place for you. If you are looking for a clean, close to everything including the nearby national park, then it will work just fine. They also provided a free breakfast, which was a nice surprise.

Lo que más me gustó fue: rapidez del check-in, habitación muy grande, sala de estar compartida con microondas y nevera, aparcamiento en la misma puerta del hotel y gratis, buena ubicación, desayuno buffet, no había mucho ruido por la noche, personal amable, WiFi funcionaba perfectamente. Lo que menos me gustó: desayuno poco variado, encontré varios insectos en la habitación, la limpieza muy justa

I am a name not a number. Didn't see a single person of staff for the stay, even at breakfast staff didn't appear in the room to collect "vouchers" from anyone. There was also green mold on the bread for use in the toaster

Þetta er gott gistihús en ekki Hótel
Við vinkonurnar upplifðum ekki að við værum á Hóteli enginn varsla og japanir að elda með gas á gólfinu í setustofu við rákum þá út með pottinn og gasið sögðum að þetta væri ekki leyfilegt á Íslandi. Gátum ekki komist inn kl. 10.10 ásamt öðru fólki hringdum í símanúmerið á veggnum þá komu eftir 7. mín. hjón sem gátu ekki talað íslensku né ensku og hann var pirraður sagði að útidyrahúrðin ætti alltaf að vera opin ? Ekkert útvarp og sjónvarp var með 2. erlendum stöðvum :-)
