I’ve worked in hospitality for the last 20 yrs. I received a 2 hour early check in for booking with Expedia. When we walked in at 1:00 pm the lobby smelled like a dirty bathroom and there was no one at the front desk. There was a sign saying the desk attendant was away assisting other guests. It took 3 minutes for her to come out. Check in is not until 3 so this is understandable. She had an inconvenienced attitude when asking what we needed. I said, I have a reservation and gave my name. She said check in wasn’t until 3:00 and I said I get an early one as an added amenity and had my phone open to the reservation details. She said something to the effect of “let me see your phone”’ so I showed her. She said oh yeah or something like that. The rest of check in was okay. We were given a first floor room at the end of the hall. There was an outside entrance with a door that slammed loudly, very often. The location was convenient but the noise was unfortunate and disturbing. This could have been the only room ready at our check in or it could have been retaliatory. The room had a off putting smell, like stale deodorizer, dark and drab with stained carpet and very “run down”. The bathroom floor and tub were dirty with hair and debris. The toilet was stained and there was no trash can. The queen bed was small, more like a full size mattress and the pillows were very small. The guest wifi never came up when searching for available networks, nor was the address written anywhere.
