Position and view is excellent
Position and view is excellent. Communication was a little confusing since 4 different people from the house were involved. When it was finally clear who was doing the check-in, the check-in itself was really good, since the keys were delivered to us to the airport after our arrival, so we don't had to drive to the house immediately after our arrival.

Highly recommended!
Quiet, beautiful área, with a great restaurant two doors from our place. In the north centre of the island, so easy to move around. Right on the very beach, amazing views, comfortable and spacious house. By far the best equipped kitchen we have enjoyed in a rented property. Courtesy wine and cake!

Incredible Location
The property is directly on Praia dos Moinhos, a wonderful beach on Sao Miguel's north shore. It is quiet, absolutely beautiful at night, and possibly the best location of any place we have ever stayed at. The unit itself is plain, devoid of decoration or fancy things, but this was never an issue, since the location is so nice. The main room, as one enters, is a living room, dining area, and (the best part of the unit) the patio overlooking the beach. Downstairs are the two bedrooms and bath area. Kitchen has necessary appliances. Living room is quite nice-large and comfortable, and the patio has a table and several chairs. The master bedroom is large, bed is comfortable. We did not use the second and smaller bedroom, so cannot comment. Bath is fine and has a small shower area with great water pressure. Praia dos Moinhos is a wonderful beach. Nice sand, lovely cliffs on either side. There is a very good restaurant two or three doors up the street. Although street parking was available directly in front of the unit, we chose to parking in the free lot about a block away in order to keep the car out of harm's way. Hiking trails are available within a very short walking distance which allow for short hikes to the waterfall, or longer hikes which take you up to the bluffs overlooking the beach area and they are just idyllic. Communication was a bit difficult, but certainly worth the effort to go to sleep with the waves crashing and to wake up to breakfast on the patio.

Praia Moinhos
This apartment is in an idyllic location. It overlooks a beach that is between two dramatic headlands. There is a small cafe/bar on the beach—nice for a late afternoon drink. It is on a very narrow street with a restaurant a few steps away. The apartment is equipped with everything you need. One warning: if you go out on the balcony and close the door, you will be locked out. It happened to us. Take your phone with you with the owners number, just in case.

Eine schöne Ferienwohnung direkt am Strand und Meer. Der Vermieter ist sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Er antwortet zügig. Die Wohnung sollte allerdings renoviert werden. Die Insel ist allerdings fantastisch und lässt keine Wünsche offen.

Wohnung mit traumhaften Blick auf Praia Moinhos
Zu allererst: Luis ist ein zuverlässiger Vermieter und sehr bemüht, seinen Gästen einen wunderschönen Urlaub zu ermöglichen. Er antwortet schnell, hat uns persönlich begrüßt (auch wenn es schon sehr spät war) und sofort reagiert, als es darum ging, defekte Geräte zu ersetzen. Die Wohnung liegt an einem wunderschönen und gepflegten Strand. Nebenan gibt es eine Strandbar: Die Cheeseburger können wir nur empfehlen. Die Umgebung lädt zum Wandern ein und der Standort ist perfekt, um die Insel mit einem Mietwagen zu erkunden. Unser Tipp: Die Wetterlage ändert sich oft schnell. Wer "Spot Azoren" in die Suchmaschine eingibt, bekommt eine Seite mit Webcams für die Hotspots auf der Insel und den täglichen Wetter-Check. Die Wohnung selbst ist geräumig, mit einem traumhaften Blick über den Strand. Sie ist allerdings in die Jahre gekommen und bräuchte eine gründliche Renovierung.

Great location and perfect for our vacation
We would definitely recommend this property to a family. Some reviews stated it was “rustic” and could use an upgrade on linens. I will agree that the linens are a bit dated but had little to no bearing on our stay. Luis was not able to be there at check in but made arrangements for us to obtain the keys and was in constant text communication with us ensuring our stay was positive. The location was amazing. The people were friendly and accommodating. It was close proximity to attractions and restaurants/groceries. The cuisine and culture was extremely fulfilling. We spoke with Luis and indicated we’d like to return in the future. My family has fallen in love with this island and the area. Luis has a great spot that provides bedrooms downstairs which are separate from the dining and living area. There is a set of stairs walking right to the beach and a shower outside the door to clean the sand prior to entering. Our 12 year olds were able to play on the beach while we were watching them from the balcony. Epic views and perfect morning coffee location. I would highly recommend this location, especially for the price point. Thank you Luis. We look forward to booking again in the future.

Toplocatie!
Super plek, direct aan het strand. Mooi uitzicht en het rustgevende geluid van de branding. Terras voor een hapje en drankje lekker dichtbij en een veilig gevoel met de strandwachten die de hele dag aanwezig zijn. En niet te vergeten het visrestaurant aan de overkant van de straat. Omdat wij pas om middernacht arriveerden op zaterdag, had de eigenaar wat boodschappen voor ons gedaan en lekkere drumsticks voor ons klaargelegd. Kortom een supervakantie gehad en zeker voor herhaling vatbaar.

Sie werden dieses Apartment lieben
die wunderschöne Lage in einer kleinen Bucht war umwerfend. Das Apartment ist zweckmäßig, aber gut ausgestattet und liebevoll eingerichtet. WIFI funktionierte hervorragend. Porto Formoso eignet sich sehr gut für Ausflüge auf jeden Teil der Insel. Zum Flughafen sind es ca. 30 Minuten. Der Strand direkt am Haus ist sauber und war im Oktober kaum besucht. Sehr praktisch war, dass es am Strand Duschen und free WIFI gab. In dem Café nebenan kann man gut und preiswert essen und trinken. Einkaufsmöglichkeiten gab es in 3 Kilometern im nächsten Dorf. Wir empfehlen einen Mietwagen, da die Busverbindungen nicht sehr frequentiert sind. Ganz grossartig ist der Gastgeber Luis, der trotz der späten Ankunft nach Mitternacht persönlich die Schlüssel aushändigte und uns herzlich begrüsste. Wir haben ihm einen wunderschönen Urlaub zu verdanken!

Amazing! So glad we booked it!
Luis is great. The location is unbeatable. So very many positives. One of the best hikes we did was a 3 minute walk to starting point (which Luis told us about). Coffee in the morning on the balcony was sublime. The fish restaurant 5 metres away was the best we had ever had! As one reviewer said it is basic and perhaps the towels and sheets are on the thin side but the place is a slice of heaven. Thanks Luis!!

Wundervolle Lage

Wir haben als Familie mit drei Kindern (13 Jahre, 6 Jahre, 3 Jahre) Weihnachten und Sylvester dort verbracht und hatten eine wirklich tolle Zeit. Das Ferienhaus ist recht einfach gehalten, aber es war alles da, was man zum Urlaub machen braucht. Wir haben meistens selbst gekocht, da es viel frischen Fisch gibt und in der Küche war alles vorhanden, was nötig war. Die Aussicht und das Meeresrauschen sind unbezahlbar. Als Ausgangsort für Unternehmungen und Wanderungen ist das Ferienhaus super gelegen, jeder Ort der Insel ist in maximal einer Stunde erreichbar und vor allem die heißen Thermen sind mit 15-25min Fahrt gut erreichbar. In Riberia Grande ist ein großer Supermarkt, Anfahrt etwa 15min. Luis ist sehr nett und hilfsbereit und war für uns immer erreichbar. Wir kommen sehr gerne wieder!

The perfect winter getaway
I stayed at Luis' idyllic apartment for two weeks and loved it. The apartment is on the basic side but very clean and has everything you need inc wifi. Exactly what I was looking for. It has private access onto a quiet little beach surrounded by only a handful of other houses and a great beach cafe. Compared to other towns and villages on the north coast I felt this was the the nicest one we saw, everyone was very friendly, it's very quiet and clean. It is also in a great location for all the surfing beaches and hot springs. Luis himself was extremely welcoming picking us up from the airport and showing us the route to the house which could be tricky in the dark. He also sorted a problem with the toilet within hours which I was very impressed by. The only downside was a noisy neighbour who was doing building work everyday, all day to his house. He turned out to be very nice, just unfortunate timing. I'm already planning to come back and stay at the house, thanks Luis! Will

Beautiful home idyllic setting
Comfortable and spotlessly clean this home is well equipped and on a most amazing beach. We enjoyed our stay and will recommend to everybody. We only booked 4 nights arriving and leaving by taxi however if staying longer we I suggest hiring a car from the airport There is no washing machine but a washing line on the terrace was useful. Thank you Luis for all your help- obrigado!

La ubicación es preciosa por estar frente al mar y la casa amplia y cómoda, aunque se ve un poco vieja. La ducha era muy pequeña e incómoda. Creo que tendrían que remodelarvel baño y fumigar la casa para que sea perfecta. Por otro lado, la casa tiene enfrente un restaurante buenísimo. Lo recomiendo mucho, especialmente el atún a la plancha. ..fresquisimo.

L'océan pour unique vue!
Niché au coeur d'un petit village typique de l'île, l'appartement de Luis est un petit havre de paix. La terrasse donne directement sur la plage et face à l'océan, le bruit des vagues nous a bercé durant tout notre séjour. L'accès privatif à la plage est idéal et la douche extérieure bien pratique ! La pièce de vie est très lumineuse et très agréable avec sa grande banquette idéale pour les siestes. L'équipement et la déco de l'appartement sont basiques mais suffisant pour des vacances. Luis a été très agréable aussi bien dans ses messages avant le séjour que lors de la remise des clés. Nous avons beaucoup aimé le positionnement central de l'appartement sur l'ile de Sao Miguel, toutes les choses à voir sont à 1h de voiture maxi.

Spectacular view and only the sound of the ocean
We had a great time at this superb apartment. Basic stuff everywhere but we are easily satisfied people. We felt like a royal family at this spot. Three bedrooms with lots of space. The beachbar The Mill is a great place with good food, friendly people and free Wifi. Friendly and helpful owner. Theo & Marjolein & kids, The Netherlands
