If you need to stay in this part of Santa Ana, this hotel is newer, nicer, and in a cleaner area than the ones further up the 55 freeway at Grand and Segerstrom. That said, I'm disappointed with it in a few areas. The noise level in the rooms from the plumbing is far louder than I expected. Every neighbor's flush sounded like it was amplified through the walls. My toilet was probably bothersome to them too because mine had a tank leak and kept refilling every 2 minutes. I'm not exaggerating, it was that often. I could clearly hear the neighbor's conversation too. I would have asked to switch rooms but I didn't want to repack all of my family's stuff and we were out during much of the stay. The staff are moderately friendly but many of them need to step it up one notch and not give the appearance that their job is dreary. The gentleman working in the lobby convenience shop gave me a snarky "Thank you SO MUCH" when I purchased an energy drink there, likely because I hit "No Tip" when the machine prompted me to decide if I wanted to leave one. Please remove that tip feature from the convenience store cash register. I grabbed the drink myself and carried it to the counter. The worker merely swiped it with his barcode scanner. He didn't open my can, pour it over a glass of ice, and put a little cocktail straw into it. Do you really expect a tip for scanning the drink? The guys working at 7-Eleven do the same thing and without the pretense of providing some luxurious service.
