Quiet "Off Grid" Getaway
Vrbo lists this property in Elgin, but it is actually 30 minutes south of there near Parker Canyon Lake. This property is perfect if you want to get away for a quiet, dark-sky experience. The home is on a hill - clean, roomy, well-stocked and perfect for adult guests and older children who are sure-footed. Several outdoor levels allow for great star-gazing and comfortable porch sitting. 4WD is not needed but came in handy when we had to back one of our vehicles down into the driveway. Birding and kayaking on Parker Canyon Lake was wonderful.

Not worth it at all!
Do yourself a favor and skip this place! I have stayed at about 10 VRBOs and this is the very first negative review I am giving because it was so disappointing. The lake is pretty but the house is not nice at all, what a waste. The best part is the porch, there is a very slight view of the lake but the neighborhood is nothing special and the mosquitos are awful so even the porch isn't enjoyable. The inside was so frustrating because the fridge had been broken by the previous guests and the fridge door was hanging by a thread so every time we needed to open and close it, two adults had to press it together the exact way from each side or else it wouldn't close. It's also a tiny fridge. The electricity went out on us several times in a one weekend stay and there's a generator we eventually got to work but it was a big hassle. Water wouldn't stay hot for even a quick shower. No extra blankets and road is extremely bumpy, 4WD is necessary. The upstairs floor has no solid railing, there are large empty spaces so a young child could just fall straight through easily. That's not stated in the description so I thought it might have been a clear barrier but there is nothing at all to protect people from falling from top floor. I tried to discuss these issues with the property manager during and after the weekend but they were unwilling to help or offer even a small partial refund.

Cozy cabin getaway
The cabin is awesome! It is removed from the hustle and bustle. It has views of Parker Canyon lake which is less than a half mile away. The lake is beautiful with boat and kayak rentals. It was wonderful relaxing at the cabin with a fire in the fireplace after doing wine tasting at the local wineries in Sonoita & Elgin. There are excellent restaurants located in Sonoita as well, check out The Cafe We will be back!

Great location and great stay!
This cabin met our needs perfectly! A beautiful location and view, with all the comfort you could want in the cabin. A fully stocked kitchen let us prepare meals before and after our daily outdoor adventures. Perfect spot. Can’t wait to plan our next trip back!
