Perfect for 2 families
I liked the fact that out daughter’s family could stay upstairs with bath and my husband and I could be downstairs with our own bedroom and bath. We could sleep in when kids get up early. Bedding was comfortable. If you have little kids, bring baby gates for stairs.

Loved Our Walkable Beach Vacation
This house suited us well. We could easily walk to the beach and to town with the kids. The furnished wagon & beach toys were helpful. The back yard was perfect for shaded play and relaxing. The s’mores at the fire pit were a hit with the kids. Beds were comfortable and the kitchen had all we needed to prepare most of our meals “at home”. B/c the inside dining space is somewhat limited our 6 ate most of our meals at the table on the lovely deck. This is a property we would enjoy returning to.

Comfy Cozy
Enjoyed this rental immensely. The 13 stairs getting to main level were a surprise, but we adapted. Grandpa has Parkinson’s so had we known about those stairs, we wouldn’t have reserved. But rest assured, if you’re hale and hearty, the place has everything one could want and then some! Owner great!

Great place!!
My family had such a nice time at this property! Beautiful interior, far better than the pictures! Really spacious house with lot of charm and character! Close to downtown and the Beach, within walking distance of both. Very quiet neighborhood, wooded lot with nice privacy. House is full of extra amenities, everything you'd need for your stay, and the extra gift with wine, sunscreen and other goodies was such a nice suprise! We'd happily stay here again!

Lovely stay!
We stayed here as a last minute vacation before our oldest started kindergarten, and it did not disappoint! The house was large and spacious with tons of sleeping options (which is helpful when your two kids don't want to sleep alone in an unfamiliar place😂). The decor was lovely and modern with all the amenities we could have wanted (Disney+, Netflix, a beach wagon, fire pit, kayaks, extra blankets and sheets). We had a bit of trouble at one point with checking in (late at night) and the owner was quick to respond to us and our issue was very promptly fixed. We walked everywhere: beach, downtown and playground. Would definitely stay here again ❤️

Beautiful home
We have rented in South Haven every summer for decades. This, by far, was the most spacious home! It was a little further from the beach than we would normally book, but still within walking distance and worth the extra block or two. There were bikes available, a fire pit, all kinds of "extras" in the garage. The best part was that the owners welcomed us with a very thoughtful bottle of local wine, coffee, and travel sunscreen/bug spray all in a cute cotton travel bag. You had all the conveniences of home with modern appliances in a lovely decorated vacation house. There are 2 levels and the main floor was up a flight of stairs, but this was not a problem for our family. The first floor had a master bedroom/bath and washer/dryer. The was a difference in temperature between the two floors, but the cooler temperature downstairs was welcomed in the summer weeks. We will definitely try to return next year!

Great house in South Haven
This house was very clean when we arrived and it has everything you need - kitchen, bedrooms, even beach chairs and wagon. The location is perfect - short walks to the beach, downtown, and farmers markets. Great neighborhood too.

Far Exceeded Expectations!
We loved this home so much we have already inquired about how soon we can book our next vacation! This home is spacious and extremely inviting.. Having the master bedroom and bath on the first floor was perfect for our family. Our 20 year old son had his own space upstairs including a large full bath, TV in the main room, and nice size bedroom. We would have had plenty of space for our other son had he been able to join us. The house was immaculate when we arrived - every room as clean as was the furniture and floors. The location could not be more perfect. A short 3 block walk to the beach as well as downtown shops & restaurants. The neighborhood is safe and very quiet. Joe (the host) was extremely helpful and responsive in answering our questions. We also appreciated being able to park in the garage. The landscaping, deck, and small backyard were terrific. The kitchen was spacious and stocked with appliances, utensils, and some basic cooking supplies. The master bath - especially the shower - was AMAZING. Having access to beach chairs and wagon, bicycles (2), the corn hole game set, was a pleasant surprise.

Lovely property just a short walking distance from downtown and the beach. The house was clean and the check in/out process was simple. One suggestion - my Mother has hearing issues and we had trouble trying to figure out the Close Captioning. It would be great to add directions to the binder.

Great Place!
What a great place! The pictures don't do this one justice. The master suite is huge! The beds are comfortable, the kitchen had everything we needed, the neighborhood is quiet and felt safe. Walking distance to everything: beach, downtown, restaurants, Kids Corner. The owner was super responsive to our questions. We would definitely stay here again.

Clean and close to beach
The house was spotless when we arrived. We took great advantage of the deck/balcony throughout the stay. TVs both have Rokus, so don't trouble yourself bringing one along. Large kitchen and a fairly large living room suit hanging out in the evening. My only wish is for larger beds, since sharing a double bed with my wife was challenging. All in all a great place well positioned to walk down for a swim and see the sunset every night.

Great July 4th Holiday Get Away in South Haven
Great house ! Close to beach and loved the deck off the living room. Family room was awesome -spacious and a great place to relax after a day at the beach. Kitchen was great- fully stocked with utensils etc and we made all our meals at home. Bedrooms were large and very clean and updated with beautiful bathrooms too. Look forward to our next visit to this house. It exceeded our expectations !!! Thanks for such a lovely stay for a much needed change of scenery .

This property was great for our first trip to South Haven! It had everything we needed, including adult bikes, and the location was perfect - walkable to the beach and to town. Inside is modern and nicely decorated. Owner responded quickly to all my questions.

Great Location
Great house for 2 families with kids. Plenty of room to relax and bathrooms were very nice. Great location, within walking distance to downtown, South Beach and to kids corner. Owner was great and very easy to work with . Definitely would rent there again.

Great house with easy walking to beach, kids corner park and downtown!
We stayed here with our 3 children for our first attempt at a family vacation (2 of our kids are 3 and under) and it was a huge success! All the comforts of home and plenty of room for sleeping and lounging after being at the beach and kids park all day. The house is well equipped with all basic kitchen and towel/linen needs and even has a grill, beach chairs, mountain bikes, coolers and a beach wagon available for use (we had bought a wagon as we didn’t realize one was there, so just an FYI for future renters). Our only complaint would be the amount of bugs inside the house. Now, the house is nestled in some trees unlike a lot of the other cottages in the area, so bugs are unavoidable and expected. However, either the place wasn’t cleaned right before we arrived (maybe there wasn’t a renter right before us) or maybe just needs to be sprayed/treated to keep the pests out We were just surprised at the amount of cobwebs and earwigs all over the house inside and out right when we got there and throughout the week. Other than that, it was a great location and nice, comfortable home to stay in for the week!! We will be back to South Haven! :)

Great house, Great Location!
This was my first time visiting South Haven. We stayed for three nights and really enjoyed the house and town. It was about four blocks to town and three blocks to the lake. We were really happy to see a wagon in the garage to help us bring our belongings to the beach. The house is very clean and updated. Would definitely come back and stay here again!

Wonderful!
The home is beautiful, has everything you need, was nice and clean, and is tastefully decorated. Communication with the owners was smooth and they were responsive when we had questions. This home is in the perfect location! It is a short walk to the cute downtown area with restaurants and shops, a short walk to the beach, and a short walk to the awesome children's park – you couldn’t find a better location! This was our first time in South Haven and we had an absolutely wonderful time and hope to come back again. We would definitely book this home again for return trips to South Haven!

I rent homes all of the time. This was one of the best houses, I have ever rented. Comfortable and well appointed, in a great beach community. The owner, was very communicative and helpful! I could not more strongly recommend a home and I hope to rent it again next year!

A great place for a family gathering
This was our first time staying in the more residential feeling South Beach area compared to North Beach, where we have stayed previously. We like both areas! The Pines is very nice...the photos really don't do it justice. The kitchen/living/dining area, which is located upstairs along with two bedrooms, is quite large. It was perfect for the eight of us. It is well equipped, the appliances appear to be brand new and there is tons of storage space. The bathrooms are very nice and quite large. And the place was spotless, which is always a real plus! It's somewhat inconvenient to have to do a flight of stairs every time you leave or enter the house to reach the living area but it wasn't really a problem for us. And it was great having the garage for storing our bikes and baby stroller - and loading the car in the rain. Our only complaint is that it was hard to adjust the heat/air conditioning. The downstairs master bedroom and bath were cold but increasing the temperature on the thermostat made it too hot upstairs. While it's a bit of a walk to the beach, which is accessed by a steep flight of stairs, the location is great for walking into town. We found the owner very accommodating and would definitely stay at the Pines again.

Best location, perfect house
My parents, husband, daughter (3.5 years old) and son (3 months) and myself ventured to this amazing house from August 19-August 23. It couldn't have been nicer! Walking distance to the beach (10 min) and walking distance to the town (10 min). There is a substantial hill to get to the beach, but the wagon in the garage was perfect to pack up everything and take it down! Love the layout of the place, but be aware of steepness of stairs going up to main level. Two bedrooms upstairs with shared hallway bathroom, as well as living space, kitchen and great patio. Downstairs is tiled, which was great coming home wet and and sandy from the beach. Downstairs is master suite with ensuite bathroom, and laundry outside of bedroom door. House was clean and stocked with enough plates, silverware, etc. It was really nice having the extra cot in one of the bedrooms upstairs for my daughter to sleep on. My only criticism is the water pressure in the shower upstairs. It's basically a heavy trickle and getting sand out of thick hair wasn't easy. The master shower has better water pressure. Lots of garage space and nice being able to park on the street. Would definitely stay here again, it was actually discussed on the drive home! Thank you again Joe!

Stayed for 7 days - August 5th-12th
The house was very clean. Interesting floor plan - when you enter, there are two steps down to the laundry area and master bedroom and bathroom. There is a stairway up to the main living area, which has an open family room to the kitchen, two bedrooms and a bathroom. The kitchen is equipped with utensils and spices to prepare a meal. There is a large TV in the family room that gets all the cable channels. The television in the master bedroom is hooked up to Apple TV. You cannot watch live tv without paying, but you can watch archived shows. The beach is 4 blocks away. There is a lookout area and nice stairs to the beach. The beach is white sand and no rocks or seaweed. My sons played in the lake for hours every day. The town is also 4 blocks away with cute shops and restaurants. My youngest son brought his rollerblades and used them often. It was a very relaxing trip. I enjoyed going for walks and looking at all the different homes. All the homes are custom; no two are alike. There are a lot of rental properties in the area, but every day was quiet and peaceful. There weren't any college kids partying; lots of families with children. My full deposit was returned the day after checking out. The deck area in the back needs to be re-stained and the plants are overgrown, but that's not a big deal.

We have a crew scheduled for the end of August trimming the yard. We are also going to work on the deck this fall which is a product of the huge trees on the property. Thanks for the review and would be delighted to have you back anytime!

Comfortable and clean for this picky family
Clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. New (or nearly so) appliances throughout. Upstairs great room was very comfortable and perfect for our group of 5 when we were hanging out at the home. We like this neighborhood: easy walk to South Beach (southern stretch), riverfront, and town. We had our family of 3 (2 adults + 10yo) and then we had grandparents join us for a total of 5. We stayed at the property in late July and early August 2017. Would happily stay here again.

Nice place!
Just a few blocks from the beach or downtown. Easily walkable to everything and great for 2 smaller families or 3 couples. The beach wagon in the garage came in handy for trips to the beach.... If you book this one you won't be unhappy with your choice.

Great location close to town and the beach. Quiet street. Beautifully decorated and so clean!
I wish I had stayed there on our previous visits to the area. A better option than the hotel down the road. We are finished with our business in that are for awhile but are so sad we didn't get to stay there longer! Easy to book. Quick to get deposit back and we didn't want for anything while we were there. Comfy furniture and great beds, linens, showers and loved the heated floors in the bathrooms as it was a cold rainy weekend. We will stay there agIn as soon as we can find our way back to that area again! Felt like we were in a luxurious retreat!
