Celebration weekend
We celebrated my 60th birthday and it was a fantastic place to do so. The recommendation for the chef was excellent also- so a great weekend for us all and we would not hesitate to forward the recommendations to others if asked.

Break between Christmas and New Year
A lovely barn conversion with plenty of space for 8 of us. Perfectly described on the VRBO website. A most relaxing break with the family in a quiet and remote part of Suffolk. Would recommend and would go again.

Great escape to the country
Old Oak Barn lived up to our expectations and was a lovely place to stay and celebrate our parents 50th wedding anniversary. The barn provides spacious, well maintained accommodation, the kids loved the pool table and dart board whilst the adults loved sundowners on the patio overlooking the fields. It is set in an extremely quiet location amongst fields, which was perfect for our family. It could only be bettered if the nearest pub was closer, and less than an hours walk. For any family looking for a rural getaway in the middle of Suffolk, this is it!

Great for a family get together
We stayed here to celebrate my 40th birthday with family and I am so happy we chose this house! Beautiful decor, lovely and clean with well stocked kitchen equipment etc. Literally couldn’t have asked for more. Definitely recommend to anyone looking for some chill out time in a relaxing environment!

Amazing weekend for a surprise 70th birthday!
We booked the Old Oak Barn as a surprise for my Mum’s 70th birthday. There were 6 adults and 4 children staying. What can I say…. the barn is just stunning and from the moment we walked in, we felt at home. It was everything we hoped it would be and more. The hiring of the hot tub was the icing on the cake and would definately recommend. To our surprise it was a sturdy one rather than an inflatable hot tub that we have had on other occasions. The barn had absolutely everything anyone could need and it was clear a thought of thought and heart had gone into this beautiful barn conversion. Marcus was incredibly responsive and helpful during the whole process. The only downside was that we were only there for 2 nights and not longer. Can’t recommend Old Oak Barn enough and we will definately look to return again!

Fantastic break
Just returned from a lovely break at the barn, Marcus was super helpful and recommended a great day out canadian canoeing with the kids. Everything at the barn was great, loads of room for all the family. All very clean and well equipped, great garden and we would definitely recommend the hot tub. Beautiful house and wonderful stay
My family and I stayed here for the week, with our 2 young babies and we had a wonderful stay. The property is beautiful and in a lovely location. A short drive to a little market town with places to eat and shop. We visited farms and parks with our children and enjoyed time in the lovely garden at the barn. Marcus was brilliant, and communication was fantastic! It had everything we needed and would highly recommend a stay here

A Fab & Relaxing Break
Thank you Marcus for being on hand to help with the “little” problem that we had. Everything was as listed the only negative was that a lot of the kitchen equipment has seen better days and could do with replacing. This didn’t detract from our enjoyment of our time here. The Sonos worked well. The space is wonderful and homely. The uninterrupted view is glorious. We all enjoyed ourselves and were very comfortable here. Marcus was very responsive. We all had a wonderful weekend away in the beautiful countryside. The Barn was full of character & charm & was exactly what we were after after a hectic year. My 2.5 year old absolutely loved having all that space to run around in-especially across the bridge which is a stunning feature. Fabulous relaxing break
What a beautiful barn. We all really enjoyed our stay. The games room was a big hit with our family as they all enjoy pool and darts. It is a garage as it states in the description but as you can access it via the kitchen you can chill at the kitchen whilst still being together. The bedrooms are great, plenty of space and most have an en-suite. Lovely views and walks with dog. Perfect. Can’t wait to visit again soon. Thank you Marcus and Dennis.

Fabulous accommodation for a family gathering.
A truly wonderful property nestled in beautiful surroundings but within easy access of many enjoyable days out. Only down side was that we could not stay longer. Layout of barn gave great choice of bedrooms and en-suite to nearly all of the rooms. Under floor heating was very cosy. Excellent communication between owner and a lovely welcome gesture on arrival. Will definitely return.

Family Gathering
Marcus was really helpful with our booking and our requests. The house is beautiful and clean and with everything that we needed. It’s a beautifully renovated and we all felt right at home. Beautifully converted barn with everything we needed.
The barn is beautiful, from the moment you step into the property you know it is going to be great. The bedrooms are lovely, as are the bathrooms. The kitchen has everything you could possibly need for 10 people. The boys enjoyed the pool in the garage too. One evening we lit the fire; it was not really needed as the underfloor heating was so efficient, but the fire looked so good. Only one thing to perhaps be considered. The upstairs bedrooms - the floors creaked so badly when anyone moved that it woke people downstairs. This was in the bedroom in the far end of the property. We live in an old property which creaks, and so know the problems, but it really does need some sort of soundproofing. Other than that, it was perfect. Thank you so much.

One of the best properties we've stayed in
We are a group of uni friends who've been going away together, with our families, for the past 28 years and this is definitely one of the best properties we've stayed in. The barn was well-maintained and comfortable; the conversion is interesting and the middle section of the barn is bright and airy. One of the plus points when booking was the fireplace as two of our number love making fires but in fact it was so warm in the house that we didn't need to light it! When we arrived the kettle wasn't working so we phoned the owner and he asked us to buy another when we were out food shopping. The barn is quite secluded in a small village so we had to drive quite a distance to get to places but that wasn't a problem and we did go out for a local walk straight from the house on one of the days. All in all a very enjoyable holiday.

Great family break!
A great place for a family break. From 86 year old nanny down to my 7 year old daughter and family members of all ages in between, everyone enjoyed the weekend thoroughly. Spacious enough for you not to feel on top of each other but areas where you can all be cosy together. A lovely walk to the Black Horse on Sunday morning and a fun Saturday evening dinner around the cosy kitchen table. Mornings in the sun out in the garden with a cuppa, snuggled around the tv in the afternoon, playing pool in the games room. Thoughtful touches from the owner on arrival (wine and chocolates), fantastic Sonos playlist (I'm a big fan of music playing in the background), beautiful galleried staircase, peaceful, lovely views. Little things that add up to give special memories. Will definitely be back again with the family.

What a wonderful week we have just had staying at Old Oak Barn,10 family members so comfortably accommodated for in such a lovely place. Marcus has very thoughtfully created a warm,bright and spacious holiday home that is luxurious but so relaxing,a huge kitchen for family breakfasts and a beautiful dining table where we enjoyed sitting together of an evening,having dinner then playing games,such fun.An open plan lounge area,beautiful lighting and furnishings.The bedrooms are very spacious and the beds extremely comfortable. The pool table and dartboard were a real bonus for the younger members of the group and the huge bath a hit with the ladies who loved a bubbly soak. Plenty to see and do in the surrounding areas,would highly recommend a day trip to Southwold via Walberswick ferry,a visit to the pier a must. We will all be highly recommending the barn to friends and family....thank you Marcus,you have created a fantastic holiday home.

Ideal for family get togethers - Quiet but close enough to local facilities
Very impressive accommodation with plenty of room. Comfortable beds and a super kitchen which we used for most of our meals (9 adults). The nearest village of Debenham has a Co-op and newsagent and two pubs. We used the Black Horse at Thornden and the food was fine. Use Tesco for a home delivery, it saved us a lot of time. A wonderful Suffolk holiday
This was one of the loveliest properties we have stayed in. It was light, spacious, beautifully appointed and extremely comfortable. There are 10 of us in our family and we have been in many cottages over the years with varying degrees of success, but this one ticked every box. The garden was peaceful with a good mix of sun and shade and again, plenty of space for children to run around. We had to be a bit careful with the pond but they learned some water safety rules and to compensate, we were visited by a duck and her 11 babies every day. I would recommend this property without hesitation. It is well situated in beautiful countryside with plenty to do and within striking distance of the coast. We had days at Southwold and Aldeburgh as well as exploring locally. We wished we could have stayed longer.

Wonderful place
We were a family of three generations grandparents, daughters and their partners with three grandchildren, we ranged in age from 70 to 2 months. We had a wonderful week at the Old Oak Barn to celebrate a 40th and 70th birthday. The barn is very spacious with a good outside area which we used a lot as the weather was so good. We used the recommended caterer Jodie to cook a celebration meal for us on the Saturday evening. It was so nice to sit and relax outside with a drink while she cooked served and cleared up. All the bedrooms are good comfortable doubles with plenty of space and storage, nice en suite shower rooms to 3 bedrooms and one family bathroom with a roll top bath and shower which is shared by 2 bedrooms. Plenty of hot water. The kitchen is very well equipped with everything you could wish for plenty of glasses, crockery and cutlery and the usual pots and pans. A very large dining table seating 10 plus plenty of seating for relaxing in. Lots of space to spread out. The outside area has a pond which enchanted my 4 year old granddaughter as there was a family of ducks with 11 ducklings. Lots of space to sit and relax and so peaceful. Its a great place for sightseeing as although inland its not too far to visit the coast and other visitor attractions. We hope to come back again.

Beautiful place to enjoy the Easter break
What a wonderful time had by all on a recent stay in Old Oak Barn. 10 adults and 2 children enjoyed the long Easter weekend together; relaxing, playing games, hunting for Easter eggs, cooking and eating together and laughing the whole time. The barn had everything and more that we could wish for. The beds were so comfortable and the underfloor heating kept us warm in the evenings. The kitchen was well equipped and beautifully designed, the whole barn was decorated lovely with plenty of space for everyone. Beautiful barn conversion which was comfortable and perfect for adults and children.
Fully equiped kichen and comfortable bedrooms. A few issues with the heating but that was resolved immediately. Lots of storage space, loved the open plan feel and plenty of space for 5 little girls to run around and burn off energy! We would definitely return back to the barn. Perfectly situated and easy access to shops, pubs and other nearby towns.

Relaxing,warm and comfortable.
My party stayed in this property from 6th to 9th January 2017. From the moment we walked through the door we felt relaxed and comfortable. Sometimes you stay in a place and something is not quite right, not the 'old barn', everything was perfect. It was warm, comfortable,well laid out and very spacious. The bedding and towels were all clean and fresh, and the bedrooms are massive. We cooked on all the nights of our stay and didn't want for anything, there were ample glasses, plates, pots and pans. The Arger was a dream to use, cooking for a party of 10 required a big cooker! Although the games room was not heated, we were still able to enjoy the dart board and pool table. Having the Sonos speaker system to hand was also a nice feature,which was greatly used. The surrounding area, with its local pubs and owl sanctuary was great to visit , we didn't stray far as we were there for a long weekend, the barn and our own company was sufficient, being we were there for my wife's 50th birthday. All in all I cannot recommend the 'Old Barn' enough. We all enjoyed our stay, and would love to have an excuse to come back, a wonderful weekend was had by one and all. Thank you Marcus.

Utterly amazing!! Will definitely be returning
We stayed at The Barn over the Xmas week and we all had an absolutely fabulous time. The Barn itself is gorgeous and decorated very tastefully. There were 12 in all, with a couple of smaller ones in cots and there was plenty of room for everyone not to be on top of each other the whole time. Each of the bedrooms were all good sizes, and the beds very comfy. The bathrooms were all also maintained to a very high standard. The kitchen had all the gadgets, utensils and glasses you could wish for, it was just like being at home. Marcus left us wood so we could light a fire on Xmas morning, but what with the underfloor heating throughout the whole of the downstairs, we didn't leave it on for long as everyone was very warm, but the effect with the 10ft Xmas tree was amazing. We liked the little extra things, like the Sonos sound system and the pool table and darts board in the garage. Marcus had left a book with lots to do locally but to be honest, we only left The Barn a couple of times to some local village as we were all having such a good time and didn't want to leave. Marcus's dad was also only a phone call away if we had any questions. As a family, we have never spent Xmas all together like this due to how many of us there are and i will say that it was one of the best Xmas's i can remember. Lots of playing games and eating and drinking around the huge dining room table. I would 100% recommend this property to anyone else, especially around the Xmas time as The Barn looked stunning.

An amazing weekend in a stunning barn conversion!
We rented the Barn over NYE weekend. Marcus couldn't have been more helpful from our first enquiry all the way to the end of our fantastic weekend. The Barn is beautiful and everything you could want for a peaceful week/weekend away. Kitchen is really well stocked and the facilities are second to none. The lads loved the pool table in the garage! Can't wait to come back!

Beautiful barn in a lovely remote setting
A party of 9 stayed at the barn for my 30th birthday. From the moment we entered we were very impressed by how well decorated the barn was and how clean (e.g. Each room had plenty of clean towels). The barn itself is big enough that you don't feel cramped. The kitchen in particular was great. We made full use of the Sonos system and pool table in the garage. The outside space was also lovely and we would like to return in the summer to enjoy it properly.
