Cudjoe Key Cottage
The view was wonderful. Great place to see sunrise every morning. This was a girls trip. If you are just there for fishing, this place is perfect. The refrigerator and freezer smelled of fish. Even after 3 nights, the smell was strong. I recommend bringing some arm and hammer baking soda for both fridge and freezer. The place is pretty close to Key West, so location is great. The neighbors were cleaning their fish right off the dock, so there were many seagulls. With seagulls, comes poop. They pooped on the very nice Adirondack chairs on our deck. No bucket found to do any cleaning, so bring something to clean off the chairs so you can enjoy the wonderful view. Check the outside trash can and recycling bin when you arrive. There are strict rules about not leaving any trash behind. Trash must be transported in your vehicle to a dumpster on the property. All in all, I would stay here again. Jennifer my host was wonderful. The view was awesome and a short trip to Key West.

Ocean View Deck Rental
The view and deck were beautiful. However, the unit was very dirty. The air vents were covered with dust and mold. A few bugs were crawling around, and they looked like small roaches. The shower doors were not very clean. The towels are very old, good thing I brought my own washcloths. The unit needs upgrades. Bikes would have been nice ride within the park. Very dissatisfied with the overall unit and rent again.

Location and amenities
Wonderful location and community. Enjoyed the ping pong, tennis & pickleball! Bikes & kayaks would have been great. The house was comfortable and cute. Had to call host for a repair and was taken care of within an hour. Cleanliness could have been better - dusty and cabinets/drawers could use attention. Very happy with our stay.

We staid here in August of 2023 It was not the cleanest, the comforters and pillow shams on the beds were soaking wet like the just came out of the washing machine and not dried, there were broken windows, broken cabinets disgusting bathrooms, ragged towels in bathrooms, and most of the outdoor furniture was broken the sliding door needs replacing. The entire place needs upgrading this place was not worth the money we paid, the host was hard to get in contact with and when we told her we had to dry all the bedding she just said OK like we were asking if we could. Find a better place in Venture Out not this one for your vacation.

AMAZING Location and View!
We Really enjoyed our stay at this property! The house was clean and had nice amenities, including Smart TV, Cable, & WiFi! It was nice to have a grill! I cooked a great meal for Sis & Bro-in-law who stopped by for a visit! Beautiful evening to dine on the covered patio overlooking the water! The community had lots of things to do, although we mostly just relaxed and enjoyed the house & views! We will definately go back!

Rude owner - not helpful and charged extra because our dog shed.
Owner charged us very large fee for our dog shedding and lied and said she peed in home which she Never has done. Not worth the money. Large disappointment. Unstocked. Unfriendly and unkind.

Keys Trip

On the water
We enjoyed being literally on the water in this little Venture Out community. We explored the lower keys over the week, including a kayak tour, backcountry boat tour, several restaurants and heading to key west a few days. The property is a bit worn but you are in paradise so it’s all good! We did hang at the pool several days and enjoyed the deck and the area below the house.

Hidden Gem
We absolutely loved our stay at Venture Out. It is a hidden gem in the lower Keys driving distance to both Key West and Marathon. The house is waterfront and there’s a beautiful place to sip your coffee and watch the birds and the boaters go by. The house is adequate, a little worn but more than functional. We are an easy going family and don’t require luxury. We enjoyed sitting in the deck and the safe family atmosphere. We would definately stay here again.

Great location
Great location on the water! Dock is perfect for fishing, easy access for paddle boarding or kayaking (but boards and kayaks not provided). Neighborhood pool is nice but closed early at dusk due to a lighting issue. Easy travel to Key West. The online photos are a little outdated and the property was a little worn as described in other reviews, but it was comfortable and we had everything we needed. The dining and living area was roomy with a nice sized round table perfect for family game night. The appliances seemed newer, refrigerator had a good ice maker and air conditioner worked great. Kitchen cabinets are old and one didn’t close properly, shower doors were hazy and off the track, and mattresses a little worn. The kitchen and bathrooms were clean but we were a little disappointed with housekeeping since the floors were swept but they were still dirty and the large air exchange vent in the hallway was filthy (especially disappointed since there was a separate housekeeping fee). We still enjoyed the week at this house.

Even better the second time
Second stay and we loved it just as much if not more. Host is awesome. The views are unbeatable. Cup of coffee, sunrise, and fishing right off the back of the property was the perfect start to each day. We will be back again for sure.

Million Dollar Views
The views and the outdoor deck and seawall outweighed any of the small negatives of our stay. The house was clean and comfortable with only a few minor issues such as older cabinet and shower doors, small bugs by the slider that we sprayed for, and my husband wished the a/c couId go colder at night (but it was perfect for me). The kitchen had everything we needed and the grill was great to cook the fresh fish we caught in the back. Beds were comfortable and their was plenty of room for our family of 4. The lot seemed like one of the best at venture out with plenty of space outdoors and a breathtaking, unobstructed view. The location was great since it was a short drive to Key West. I'll definitely miss looking at the ocean from the kitchen table and deck, would stay here again.

The location was perfect for us. Our main reason was being on the water, bbq.. picnic tables, deck overlooking water. 20 minutes to Key West, and the house had everything we needed, including community pool!! Had a great time and super easy process.

Great view!
Venture Out is a great community! We love the quiet, secure location. This property has a great location and view of the ocean. It was clean but out dated with lots of broken or things needing attention: mattress was a pillow-top with deep sunken in areas, the bed frame was too large and I hit my knee on it a few times, dresser drawers almost fell out when I pulled them open, non-stick cookware needs thrown out, old gas grill that was dirty when we arrived. Nothing that ruined our stay. We would stay here again. Positives: clean, big fridge/freezer with ice maker, good water pressure in showers, comfy couches and adirondack chairs, upper deck with great view of ocean and sunrise, shaded parking under unit, great price, quiet community with lots of amenities.

We had a great time on our vacation to Cudjoe Key. The house was exactly as advertised. The location is second to none with a beautiful view of Kemp channel. There are only two things that we had an issue with. The cleanliness of the home (mainly the floors) and the condition of the frying pans. We needed to keep our sandals on in the house or our feet would be black. The pans are old and scratched up. We were considering buying new ones to use and leave. Other than those two things, we would definitely stay here again.

Best week ever!
The property is located in wonderfully clean and quiet gated community. The pool was amazing. We had the best week of weather. Fished out front several times, enjoyed the deck and grill and shaded under area. It is a rental, so it does need some TLC but all in all we didn’t mind because we picked it for the spot and the spot was amazing . Susan and Jennifer were very attentive with any questions we had. Definitely would come here again.

Great stay in lower keys on the water
We really enjoyed our stay here in the Venture Out community. Right on the water, it would be great to have your own boat here. Neighbors were very friendly. We cooked and had most of our meals at the house. We charted a fishing trip and cooked the fish we caught. We could have used some more kitchen towels. The kitchen was otherwise well stocked with all you need to cook. The glass ware cabinet door needed some repairs to the hinges . But no other problems. We would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful setting/spacious surroundings
We loved the location. There was a strong, chemical “free-breeze” smell when we arrived- only one glass wine glass, one kitchen towel and a bit unswept. Very comfortable bed but several lights did not function or had no light bulb. We will remember to Bring our own beach towels when we return, just hoping to find it with a bit more attention to these things.

nice views, comfortable beds, but house needs a few things fixed
the renter was very nice and accomodating....but there were a few things that were wrong with the unit....the window behind the table rattles really bad...we had to put paper in it to keep it from rattling as loud as it was, the glass sliding doors don't look so you have to use a stick to keep anyone out and they need some sort of blinds to keep the sun out, the cabinets are peeling and 3 doors don't stay closed and the trash had not been emptied before we got there so we had nowhere to put our trash bags and there was dust on the lights, the switches, the hooks on the doors, etc.... Thick 1/2" tall dust.

The property needed some work inside and out. The kitchen cabinets were loose and the flooring was loose as well. The view was exceptional, but the deck vibrated and made a noise when the wind was blowing, which was most of the time. We liked the area and convenience to Key West but will stay elsewhere when we return in the future.

Good for the price!
Termites and ants were horrible. If you can’t stand bugs this is not your place. Now, it was clean, well equipped except expect to wash towels. We rented for 1 week with 4 adults and we washed towels every other day. I think we only had 3 towels per bathroom. Also they don’t provide detergent so buy it before you get there. You will also need toilet paper as we had 1 partial roll on spool and one extra. Paper towel as well as trash bags. For a week stay there wasn’t the usual required housekeeping items provided in other rentals. Now that all being said, the location is awesome, neighborhood great, we enjoyed the stay. It was clean although dated. Plenty of outside space and waterfront. We enjoyed the stay just keeping it real in the review. If a budget waterfront rental is what you need this is a good option just buggy and bare bones. Fishing was great.

Amazing vacation and outstanding location
We had a wonderful vacation with husband and wife and her parents at this property. Waking up to sunrises every morning on the deck, fishing every night right out back, enjoying the huge pool which we had largely to ourselves, and the other amenities of the community (to include being gated, very well maintained, and secure) made this the perfect end to the summer. Is there a light bulb out or a cabinet door slightly off center? Sure, but if you are focusing on that and not the beautiful views from the deck, the dining room, or the pretty much all around you, the well stocked, although gently used, kitchen items, and the other amenities like wi-fi, smart TV, two bathrooms and bedrooms which made this such a comfortable and relaxing vacation for us, then you probably would find something to complain about anywhere. We couldn't be happier with our stay and my wife and I are already planning to come back with our son during his summer break next year. Short drive to Key West, close to great restaurants and stores. Host was very responsive and provided all necessary information up front well in advance to make it seamless. Thank you Susan for an amazing memory! Will be in touch in a few months to see availability for next year!

Outstanding view
This was a perfect vacation. The 180 degree view of the ocean was amazing, and the water was crystal clear We could see all kinds of different fish including eels and sharks. The amenities were great. The staff from the resort were exceptional and the community store was convenient. And of course there is so many things to do that is within a 30 minute drive its a great location. 5 stars highly recommend.

Great Views - Poorly Maintained Double Wide Trailer In the Sky
The views at this property are amazing. That is where amazing ends ...this is a poorly maintained double wide trailer in the sky. The ad says it comes with a fish cleaning table and beach towels - it does NOT. The door to the property does not lock unless you turn the key to an exact spot to lock and unlock which is ridiculous. There are cabinets off their hinges, broken blinds, the ceiling fan in the second bedroom does not work and they know it because there is a box fan to use, there are holes in the wall, some of the bath towels provided you would not want to put on your body, dishes were dirty in cabinets when we arrived so we had to wash what we wanted to use, there is aluminum foil in the windows??, light fixtures are hanging by exposed wires. We reported issues to the property manager when we arrived and she was aware of all of them...so why aren't they fixed??? Also when we arrived there were 3 propane tanks - all were empty. The guest closets are also crammed full of crap so you cannot put anything in there for storage so you basically live out of a suitcase all week. The grill is not something you would want to touch, much less eat food off of. If you have more than one car it is a pain to have to store one several blocks away because you are only allowed one car which is a challenge for two couples to travel together. We paid the Venture Out fees even though we never used the amenities. We will look elsewhere and not in Venture Out for our next stay in the Keys.

Needs work
The location was perfect. The water views were wonderful. The house itself needs updating and lots of repair. When we walked in we first noticed cupboard doors hanging askew. The leg on the table was about to fall off(we fixed). The ice machine was frozen up(we fixed), outside fixtures were hanging from their wires, the dryer didn’t work and the toilets run forever before they shut off. The kitchen only had two highball glasses that we washed every night and only three wine glasses all unmatched. There was track lighting in kitchen that didn’t work and only one bulb out of three over sink worked. Microwave light burnt out. Some of these problems were stated in previous reviews, but are still unaddressed. But Key West was wonderful and surrounding restaurants had delicious food including stone crab which is our favorite.

place not ready on time had to wait on cleaning staff,only left 3 towels for shower,very strong bleach smell when we arrived,took about 2 hrs. to go back in.no privacy from entrance at sliding glass door hard to lock.The $107.00 should have been included in stay,first and last time there.

Thank you for staying with us. Check in is at 3PM, we don't mind early check in's if it is ready. Maybe you did not locate the extra towels, as there are many in the house. That $107.50 is paid directly to Venture Out for use of the amenities as noted in the listing.

Process was easy and pictures were spot on. The resort was very well maintained and secure. The rental was very clean and was as expected. The only issue as noted in other reviews was some rough edges. However, mostly cosmetic issues and everything worked as expected. Would recommend to anyone who is looking for a quiet and well maintained and family oriented property.

Beautiful view in the wonderful neighborhood of Venture Out. We had never been to Venture Out and didn’t know quite what to make of the various RVs, trailers, and single family homes all mixed together but we were quickly charmed. The people are very friendly and there are assorted activities available as part of the resort fee. As for the property itself, there is no beating the view. We saw dolphins, many birds and pelicans, and the “resident shark”. Some issues documented by previous renters remain such as cabinet doors loose, laundry doors off their hinges, multiple lights don’t work. However, the important stuff did work fine for us - the AC, the refrigerator, the washer and dryer, the oven, and the grill. If the grill is not clean, that is a reflection of previous renters, not the host. We have stayed in very many VRBOs and it is a rare grill that we find clean. The bed was very comfortable. Housekeeping left much to be desired. Thick dust on many surfaces. Again, not a reflection of the host - but on the service that has been hired. Also some of the towels had permanent gray stains. It would have been nice to have some sort of blinds or curtains across the sliding glass doors for privacy. The lock on the sliding glass door is touchy but it can be locked - just FYI. I would stay here again. Thank you!

Was OK for our short stay
Location of this cottage with the view is outstanding. Easy drive to Key West, about 23 miles, and certainly a price break vs. staying in Key West. Easy drive to many great restaurants. Chilling by the clear water was fantastic! This could be a real gem if some TLC was given to the property and amenities. It was OK for our 3 night stay, would not have sufficed for a longer visit, you'd definitely need to bring cookware as the overview suggests. Windows were broken/couldn't be opened, cabinet doors wonky or off the hinge, the shower door slid off track when trying to open to get into the shower, towels provided were clean but have certainly seen brighter, better days. Again, great value for a short stay but could really be a rock star with some care and attention to details.
