Nice location, small spaces and 4 levels to navigate
We were excited to spend a week in this part of Ortigia, happy for an elevator and a kitchen, but very surprised when we stepped through the door of #13 to see that there was not just one staircase, (9 steps) up to the bathroom level, but then another 12 steps to the kitchen, then one step down to the dining/living area and terrace! The person on the side of the bed under the stairway had to be really careful in the dark not to hit their head on the corner of a stair! On the positive side there was a lot of light in this apartment & it was easy to dry laundry out on the sunny but small terrace, on the negative side the sofa & tall chairs were pretty uncomfortable and the shower was very tight. Make sure they show you how to turn on the hot water. And hopefully they have repaired a leak from the water heater that left a puddle next to the toilet. It would be helpful for the rental agency to provide a nightlight for the bathroom and cushions for the chairs at the table. No dish towel, salt or pepper provided either! The Osteria Mariano nearby was the best restaurant we ate at and very close!
