Beautiful Property and great location
This home was absolutely beautiful. The pool was perfect, easy for the kids to get in and out. The house was very clean and the garden/patio flows really well. We went to various places around Sicily so the location was perfect for that. The butcher at the end of their street and the fruit trucks had amazing food and there is a grocer close by when they are closed. We were given lots of tips by Roberto which was nice.

Lovely villa - shame about the weather!
Villa Calipso is a beautiful well-appointed villa with excellent facilities inside and lovely gardens with pool. Unfortunately the weather was unusually poor for some of the week we were there so we didn't get to use the pool much but mornings were sunny and breakfast on the patio with superb views of Etna was very special! If we had one suggestion, it would be that a folder of information, which we have had when we have rented in other parts of the world, might be helpful. The sort of thing that contains information about the villa and its workings, local shops and restaurant suggestions, even possible trips or visits?

We loved the property and the location!
The house and gardens are totally lovely. The house is well equipped for cooking-in and conveniently located for touring around Taormina and Mount Etna. The view of the latter is spectacular. Working with property manager Roberto was pleasant and informational. We would have loved to have more time there.

Exceeded our expectations
From the pictures and description on the website we were anticipating a lovely place to stay, but Villa Calipso completely exceeded our expectations. The pictures on the site do not do justice to this charming property and its magnificent setting on the hillside with a panoramic view of Mount Etna and its surrounding foothills. The gardens of the property are beautiful and expertly maintained, and a joy to spend time in. Our communication with Sergio the owner was very efficient and this made the booking a rapid and simple process. We were met on arrival by Roberto and Stefania who were most courteous and provided a very warm welcome and an introduction to the property. This is a real home that is completely equipped and spotlessly clean. The local village of Trappitello is only a few minutes walk away and has all that we wished for; with a warm welcome at Caffè Augusto for coffee and pastries in the morning, and a great choice of fresh fish, vegetables and locally made cheese from small shops within a couple of hundred metres. The ARD discount supermarket in the village is also recommended. The local bar/pub DiBi has good beer on tap and the food at Al Feudo restaurant on the edge of Trappitello was excellent and inexpensive. The beautiful hilltop town of Taormina is within easy reach by car and a fascinating place to spend time. We have no hesitation in recommending this property for a relaxing holiday in the most beautiful location with views that will take your breath away.

Perfect Villa in Trappiletto
Villa Calipso was even more spectacular than shown in the photos. The building, the gardens and the pool were enjoyed by all in our group. Roberto,our host, was thoughtful and available, if needed. The location is perfect. Taromina is a short drive away and getting to Mt. Etna, Siracusa or Milazzo was no problem. Very highly recommended by all in our group.

Beautiful Villa!
We enjoyed our stay at Sergio’s villa. Pictures did not do it justice… even more gorgeous in person. Clean and spacious with amazing views! Roberto was wonderful responding to any of our questions and the dinner prepared by his mother was our favorite meal of the week in the area. It was extremely hot during our week there and the air conditioning was great.

Amazing villa central to everything
This house is gorgeous, with a great view of Mt. Etna. It's very central and close to many other towns nearby, including Taormina, which is very very beautiful. The owner and his team were super helpful, they even paired us with a nanny for our 1 year old. I would come back for sure!

Amazing Villa Calipso
We - 5 adults and 3 children - stayed at Villa Calipso in October 2019 and all found the villa amazing. The house itself is charming and authetic and the garden is absolutely wonderful with a lot of nice spots from where you can enjoy an amazing view of Etna. We also enjoyed an absolutely fantastic local dinner made by Robertos mother served at the house terrasse. Moreover, the location of the villa is a perfect starting point for exploring Sicily. We would defintely like to come back!

Beautiful property
Loved our stay in this beautiful house. Great location with stunning views of Etna. Also enjoyed location - quiet village with everything we needed yet within easy driving distance from all the places we wanted to visit. Lovely garden and pool. Would recommend.

Spectacular views in a fantastic Villa
This is the most spectacular property I have ever stayed at ! And I stay at quite a few. It has that old world charm and It is even more beautiful than The VRBO pictures. There are so many charming comfortable places to relax . The windows and wrought iron are beautiful. Kitchen is nicely equipped . Roberto was fantastic setting us up and attending to anything we needed immediately all through the week. I am recommending Villa Calypso to friends and family. Bravo Villa Calypso

Amazing property
I stayed here with my kids (10 and 13) and in-laws for a week in May. The property is absolutely amazing - even better than the photos make it look! There are so many different places to sit and have a drink/eat a meal, in the sun or shade, by the pool, on the terrace, all with fantastic views of Etna and the beautiful surrounding countryside. You are not overlooked anywhere on the property, so it feels very private. And the house itself is stunning, with high ceilings in the living area and a really well equipped kitchen. Even the showers were good - something you can’t always say about holiday lets! It’s also easy to get to by car from Catania airport, and well situated to get to Taormina and other places of interest. Overall would highly recommend this property.

Magnificent & Beautiful but in need of some TLC!
Just one look at the images of Villa Calypso and you begin to imagine what a wonderful holiday opportunity awaits you at this truly spectacular villa set off of the Main Street of Trappitello. It’s promise is hidden behind an innocuous black metal gated fence beyond which lies a treasure trove of traditional and rural Italian design. Once through the gates drive leads down to a wider path opening up to a sweeping terracotta stairway to the huge pool (16m long) and sunbathing area furnished with large sun umbrellas and comfortable loungers. The interior is equally stunning if somewhat dated, furnished with Italianate rococo pieces heavy on the eye but fascinating to look at. With two terraces one for dining and one for lounging both overlooking Mount Etna you may feel as if you have found paradise. The bedrooms are far more modest two of which have air-con and comfortable double beds. As for the bathrooms, they are perfectly adequate for a weeks stay. The living rooms are comfortable if a little overused with the sofas showing distinct signs of wear. The kitchen has everything and more that you would expect to find in a lived in family home and that is obviously what this is, a wonderful family home that has character in abundance. However all of the compliments cannot make up for the fact that the entire property is seriously showing its age and the fact that it was last refurbished 20 years ago with everything now in need of some serious TLC. But that said a stay here can prove quite magical beyond imagination. Stephania and Roberto were always on hand to resolve and minor issues that cropped up but if there was one point in particular that disappointed it was that pool and surrounding patio area was only cleaned once during our 7 day stay.

Dear Paul, thank for your kind review. Actually, further maintenance work has already been programmed for the next winter. Regarding the frequency of cleaning the garden, in order to avoid disturbing the guests this is done every 3-4 days. But in case of request we are very happy to increase its frequency. Moreover, as from your request, we have also performed a midweek cleaning without additional costs. Sergio

A beautiful villa and garden
We had a great holiday at Villa Calipso - five adults and a baby. There was plenty of room for all of us and it was lovely having so many quiet places in the garden to sit and enjoy the wonderful and ever changing views of Mount Etna. Roberto and Stefania were always very helpful and had lots of ideas about local places to visit. We really loved our Sicilian meal cooked for us by Roberto's delightful mother - the food was absolutely delicious. We enjoyed our visits to Taormina and Syracuse and two of our party had great fun going to the top of Etna. Many thanks to Sergio and everyone for a very pleasant and comfortable stay.

This is a beautiful villa. Our favourite part was waking up each morning to check out the views of Mount Etna - constantly changing and constantly amazing. Roberts's mother coming to cook a meal was wonderful.

Majestic Vista of Mt. Etna
Our stay at Villa Calypso was spectacular. Upon our arrival and meeting Roberto, a fire works event started at a nearby town. Following a great meal at a local restaurant Al Fiorno, recommended by Roberto and Graciela our vehicle had a flat tire on a Sunday night. With the assistance of Sergio and the help of Roberto that night and early the next morning our travels were rescued . The house has the perfect pool for relaxing, enjoying th spectacular Mt. Etna and surrounding country side. The facilities are very complete with all kitchen and linens available. The interior decorating is ornate.and provides a atmosphere of luxury.. The landscaping is beautiful, with a nearby lemon orchard and flowers everywhere. Food shopping is nearby and so is the autrostrada no. 18.. The villa is located so you can engage in sightseeing everyday and barely scrape the surface of this wonderful area. I can't say enough about thow comfortable Villa Calypso is other than we could have stayed indefinitely and just soaked in the nature, calmness, beauty and grandness of the surroundings. Great location and stunning outside area
The location was lovely, handy to Taormina and other parts of eastern Sicily. It took a while to find on the first night but that was our fault as our maps weren't the best and we arrived later than expected. Roberto, the local property carer was kindly waiting for us and was really helpful and friendly. The house was a good size and had wonderful outdoor areas which we loved, even if the weather was a bit rainy at times. There is a great view from the garden and we also enjoyed the local shops a short walk away in Trapitello, which felt very Sicilian and not at all touristy. The house itself has many nice features, including the open fire, which we were glad to have in November. However, a little more needs to be done to fulfil the potential, particularly in terms of plumbing and hot water. The house has 3 bathrooms, but we could only get water hot enough to shower downstairs in one bathroom, and even then it was only just better than warm rather than really hot. Not great in winter time. The cisterns in the toilets also needed a bit of help to fill properly at times, and the lighting could have been better/brighter, including in the kitchen. All these are small things that wouldn't require too much investment by the owners. Some printed material on local sites and how to get there would also be helpful. An app has been provided but we couldn't get it to work and many international travellers don't have internet on their phones when they are abroad as it is too expensive. It was good to have onsite parking, thank you. The booking agency was efficient and everything went smoothly on that front.
