Amazing location
We have just returned from a 3 night stay at The Owlet. The location was amazing, so tranquil and set in such beautiful surroundings. Our hosts respected our privacy, but we knew we could easily contact them if needed. Loved the welcome pack, the apple juice was delicious. The caravan was spotless inside and everything was provided to make our stay comfortable. Our only negative was that the caravan being single glazed was very, very chilly in the morning and overnight. An alternative form of heating when the log burner wasn’t in use would have helped. Apart from this, we had a lovely time and spent a lot of time on the deck just soaking in the ambiance and listening to the birds. It was amusing to see a fox strutting up the lane. Wonderful day spent at Tarr Steps, well worth a visit.

So glad you loved all the wildlife and the tranquility. The decking is my favourite spot too and I just loving watching the dragonflies. We must confess to be very disappointed to get 3/5 stars - that's never happened in our 8 years of renting. We are really clear that there is no heating and this is a back to basics rural retreat and we've had many guests in deep winter, all of which gave 5 stars. Please could future guests consider this before booking. Many thanks

Idyllic location.
Everything was perfect from start to finish except the weather which no-one can control. The entrance could be a little kinder to vehicle suspension, other than that we loved it and will definitely look to visit again.

Quite retreat
Lovely static caravan with wood burner which was needed, as it was very cold at night. Ellen is a lovely host, there if we needed anything. The scenery was stunning.

A wonderful break so thoughtfully crafted
Zero complaints. What a beautiful area and an amazing retreat from city life. The owners are wonderful and made sure all our needs were met. The caravan was so clean and well stocked with all the essentials to stay. You could see genuine thought had been put into the holiday home. The log burner was the iceing on the cake. It made it so cosy. I’ll admit that it may not be everyone’s cup of tea to holiday during the winter, but for us, it was so cosy, quiet and relaxing. The lakes, streams, woodlands etc were an amazing experience for our Frenchies and being nosey it appears the other holiday homes are incredible. We will definitely be back to stay again and will try that gorgeous lake cabin next time. Thank you Ellen and Chris for making such a special place available for people to enjoy.

Perfect retreat
Perfect hideaway for a couple. It was exactly what we needed beautiful secluded valley. We could hear no noise other than the wildlife & it was Perfect. Well stocked caravan, easy to reach owners when needed. Heated blanket & log burner were a god send, the nights got chilly. Only minor issue was they no longer allow fishing.

An idyllic retreat!
We booked The Owlet for a long weekend so that we could meet up with my 85 year old dad who lives nearby whilst social distancing. My dad has lived in nearby Tiverton all his life and despite being a huge nature lover he did not know that the valley where the caravan is existed and what a treat it was for him. The Owlet has everything you need and is tastefully decorated. The wood burner is a lovely addition on a cold summer night and it is lovely to sit out on the deck and watch activity on the lake-we saw kingfishers on several occasions. We loved the silence. There are 7 lakes and the grounds are wonderful-full of butterflies and wildflowers.. There are several places with running water and it is lovely to sit and just listen. Chris and Ellen are very thoughtful and are there if you need anything. Ellen left us some courgettes, home made elderflower cordial and a bottle of red which was very kind. We bought a couple of trout for dinner for the first night which were delicious.-just caught. The property is not far from Bampton and Dulverton . We ventured out once to buy a few things but we were happy just staying in the valley. We will be back.

Peaceful, idyllic retreat overlooking lake
We have just enjoyed a 3 night stay here & would return again in a heartbeat. The caravan is set in a secluded position to die for - facing one of the fishing lakes & surrounded by leafy foliage & trees on the other sides. The constant melodious birdsong, iridescent dragon flies & the occasional gentle ‘plopping’ sound of trout jumping in the distance in the lake below was mesmerising. The caravan is basic but super clean & very comfy. No Wifi but there is an excellent mobile signal. Chris left a generous supply of wood there for us on our arrival for the log burner & we were welcomed with a nicely chilled bottle of Prosecco left in the fridge, which we enjoyed the next evening sitting out on the veranda along with some freshly caught rainbow trout (absolutely delicious!) we purchased from Chris that same day. We never actually met Ellen, and Chris after welcoming us initially was respectful of our privacy and left us to enjoy the grounds of this beautiful fishery in blissful awe. We would highly recommend this idyllic place to anyone - fisherperson or non fisherperson, artist, writer or just nature lovers like us whose main agenda is tranquility, relaxation, decent walks, a spot of night star gazing & a complete recharging of our city batteries!

Very clean but,basic.
The area was beautiful, the Lake was lovely and it was really nice to sit on the balcony watching our dogs enjoying themselves. Very peaceful and lots of Dragon Flies to see as well as the birds.

Quirky accommodation in a tranquil setting
The caravan is old but it is clean, maintained. and well equipped. The lounge and dining area is spacious and although small, the bed is comfy with good quality bedding. The porch area is ideal for storing your wellies and keeping your beer cool. The position of this accommodation is lovely for total peace and relaxation, it was so nice not to have to pull the curtains at night because there is just no one around. Chris the owner was helpful and welcomed us with a pint of milk, some free range eggs and a loaf of homemade bread, how nice is that ? This may be not be suitable for some people,, it is not plush and has been priced to reflect that but there was no rowdy drunks or children or nearby shops, it was exactly what we wanted. There is no television signal but we did not miss it, we watched dvds, listened to music on our phones and played cards. We spent hours looking out the window which overlooks a fishing lake and wood. At night you can sit out on the decking and gaze at the hundreds of stars which can be seen as there is no light pollution. Ideal location for visiting the delights of Exmoor

A great tech detox!
The caravan is situated in an idyllic spot 2 miles from the A361, which you would never find without directions (supplied, obviously!), it looks out over a large lake surrounded by woodland and is thus very quiet and peaceful. The only sounds that you tend to hear are some very vocal nearby sheep, the odd owl in the evening, and birds in general, which we found very pleasing. On our final morning we had a visit from a curious stag, which was lovely to see. The caravan itself is very comfortable for up to two people, although there is room to sleep for visitors, if required, and in fact this was the best week's sleep that I have had in years, partly due to all the exploring but certainly due to the restful environment. There is no wifi in the caravan, and the TV is DVD viewing only, but you do get excellent mobile signal, despite the remote location (Vodafone, and 3 worked perfectly so you won't be totally cut off!). We found it refreshing to get away from all the screens for a few days and just sit out on the deck and read, knit and listen to the widlife. The caravan is sited on an impressive fishery, and if fishing is your thing then you will love it here, Chris the owner even offers tuition for beginners. If you want to get away from it all (but not too much) I would recommend this no frills,but good value site.

Perfect for a peaceful break.
Chris was very friendly and welcoming. His first priority was to check that we had a mobile phone signal so that we could contact him in an emergency and, having established that, he simply left us to enjoy the peace and quiet. Apart from a brief visit from a rather saturated angler (the weather was not great!) we didn't see another human being at the location for the whole week, but we did have the delightful company of two lambs, a goose and her gosling, some rabbits and the occasional visit from one of the friendly farm dogs. Even the fact that this was one of the wettest holidays we've ever had did not detract from the beauty of the setting and we will certainly be returning - hopefully during a dry spell!
