“Would stay at the Fairmont next door”

The hotel itself was nice. The room was clean. However, when we requested an extra towel it took an hour. There is a hospital right next to the hotel and the life-flight was very loud. Also, there was no parking available. When looking out the hotel window, the Fairmont next door had ample parking and the parking lot was well lit. The hotel was easy to get to from the highway and the breakfast was good.

“Good Value in Charleston, WV”

We travel through Charleston every Thangsgiving and have stayed at several hotels in the area. This was our first time at the Best Western and we were very pleased. The room was clean, comfortable and nicely decorated. It had a refrigerator and microwave. We didn't go out for dinner, but there are several restaurants in the area. We liked the downtown location, much better than the west side of town which is very industrial. We will definitely stay there again. It is a good value. FYI, Best Westerns do allow pets.

“Walking distance”

We were within about 6 blocks of eating areas, so had a nice choice. The building was old, but rooms well maintained. Breakfast adequate but not great. Coffee could be a little stronger.

“Will definately stay again”

I thought the hotel was in a great location. Very close to entertainment, shopping and dining. We walked around a bit and felt very safe. There is a Rite Aide pharmacy two blocks away. Everything closes at 9pm though. Front desk staff was very friendly and check in & out was a breeze. The room was nicely decorated and the beds were comfy, but a bit firm. The bathroom was dated not as updated as the room, the bathroom could stand a makeover but no complaints other wise. We also took note of how quiet it was. We felt like we were the only people on our floor! The pool is SEASONAL so it was not open. This was not important to me because I was not there to swim, but my daughter would have liked to. All in all, a very good value, plus hot breakfast was included in the price! This was my first time in Charleston and when I return I will stay at this hotel again.

“will stay again”

Was surprised how nice the rooms were. Good bed and pillows, nicely decorated. Felt upscale. Only down note was at check in had to wait until about 4:45 until rooms were ready. Standard breakfast buffet, maybe a little better than most hotels in this price range. Convenient, just a couple of blocks off of I-77. Good Italian restaurant nearby (Soho) - walking distance. Other restaurants about half mile away around a shopping mall.

“Had a hard time finding parking”

My biggest complaint about this hotel (the hotel itself was fine) was that it took forever to find parking the night we stayed. We ended up parking in the back. When we alerted the front desk employee that a couple cars were taking up 2-3 parking spaces each, making it hard to park, they seemed unconcerned. Given that they take down your car information, they could have easily asked them to move. Then when we went upstairs, there was smoke coming from a non-smoking room. They didn't seem concerned about that either. The room itself was nice though (and it was clean), so no complaints there. I was already frustrated though, so it was not possible to really impress me at that point. If the staff was as nice as the hotel, it would have been a good experience, but the staff was unimpressive. Breakfast was okay. Checkout was slow.

I don't really know a lot about downtown Charleston, so I cannot suggest. I felt safe in the front parking lot, but was not thrilled about carrying my luggage from the back of the building.

“Impressed for the price -- would stay there again.”

Nice room and the breakfast was great. The staff were friendly and accomodating. If we come back through Charleston, we will definitely stay here again.

“Visit to my hometown”

I have stayed at higher priced hotels in downtown Charleston that were nowhere near as nice as this place. It's within safe walking distance to many restaurants and bars. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

“Pretty good deal”

We stayed for one night to meet our son and his family. It was a good halfway point for us. The rooms were clean, comfortable and quiet even though the hotel was full. The kids enjoyed the pool while the adults enjoyed the pool deck area. Breakfast was better than your normal waffle and cereal fare with the addition of bacon and eggs. The only drawback to the hotel was the lone elevator to serve nine floors. The wait could be as long as 10 min. or more. All in all we would be happy to stay there again.
