“Decent hotel close to downtown”

Our room was tiny but very clean. Breakfast and the service were phenomenal, especially the welcome tea and scones. The hotel and rooms are a bit dated, but it is good value and very 'homey'.

“Cork B anaB”

Staff helpful and courteous. Breakfast expansive and good. My only complaint was the room was tiny with no ventilation and no AC.

“Comfy and Convenient”

The Garnish House has a staff that goes above and beyond to make guests feel welcome and cared for. The breakfast is stellar - with servings large enough to hold anyone until dinner. The location is convenient for anyone who wants to explore Cork on foot. I would stay here again in a heartbeat!

“A Bit Disappointing”

I think that my expectations for this hotel were just too high. Based on the Lonely Planet review I expected it to be really over the top with quality and service. The breakfast room especially was disappointing in this regard. It was extremely cramped to the point of being pretty uncomfortable and the first day that we went it took them a good hour to make a breakfast for my husband who is vegan, despite the fact that we had let them know in advance of his dietary restrictions. After about 45 minutes of waiting for some sort of meal to come out they showed up with oatmeal (porridge) and then the standard grilled tomatoes and mushrooms in oil that we'd gotten at every other place throughout our stay. After waiting that long in a place that is so renowned for their food we really expected something better. The next day the wait was not as long, but the service was similarly slow, I guess because they don't have enough help for the number of people they serve? And it is all in such a cramped space that it was really hard to enjoy the meal. Despite the long menu for non-vegetarians I'm not sure I'd eat there again if we stayed there.

“Great hotel in the Spring, Fall or Winter”

If one is climate sensitive, the hotel does not have air conditioning. The Garnish House overall is lovely. Tea and breakfast are a must. The management could not be more accomodating and gentile. They go out of their way to please, Very charming!

Garnish House in Cork is lovely! Go to Ennis, Great place! Close to Shannon airport and all important places to see. The Old Ground Hotel is the place to stay. In Dublin, The Trinity House is very centrally located and comfortable. You'll be at the heart of everything to see and experience in Dublin. If you go to Kilarney and want Irish Charm stay at Earl's Court.

Da vedere
Do leave plenty of time to enjoy Blarney Castle and Gardens in Cork. Jameson's is a must and dinner at Kinsale is lovely. Lot's to see on your way to Kilarney, Kerry county offers fantastic sites. A favorite is the Dingle peninsula. After you see what's to see in Dublin go North to New Grange, Knowth and Tara. County Clare is the place; situate your self in Ennis. The Cliffs of Moher, the Aran Islands, the Burren...beautiful!

“Great B&B right next to the University”

Loved the B&B. Very friendly and helpful staff. Gourmet breakfast, presented like an upscale restaurant. Full Irish breakfast made to order, plus cereal, fruit, breads, meats and cheeses and yogurt that you help yourself to. Rooms comfortable. If you are like us and have been leery of B&B's as too personal, like staying with relatives, don't be. The Garnish house is cozy and personal, but the staff are young people working there, not residents who reside there. For us, it was nice that way.

This area is next to the University. Seemed safe and nice. A little way to the center of town, but walkable. We had a rental car. The only downside is that school was letting out so there was a bit of student reveling until about midnight outside.

“Breakfast was AWESOME!!!!! Scones and Tea upon arrival the BEST!!”

Nice bed and breakfast. Owner met us at the door and was very gracious throughout visit. Fixed us scones and tea and cakes upon arrival. Fresh fruit in the room. Room also had a couch. Great experience!!

“Fantastic Stay in Cork but...”

We just returned home from a fantastic stay in Ireland which included three nights at the Garnish House. It was just as advertised- great location, nice comfortable rooms, terrific service & an incredible breakfast! The only surprise we had was when we checked out. We found out that breakfast WAS NOT included. Apparantly, free breakfast ended last November. We would still, however, recommend staying here and paying for the breakfast- it is simply the best! Keep up the good work.

“Not much from the outside...”

While the rooms were modest, although clean with all the necessary ammenities and the location was only a 5-10 minute walk from the center of town it is the breakfast that blew me away. Perhaps the best spread I've seem in Ireland and their signature oatmeal (Porridge) with a little Bailey's Irish Cream added.... amazing! The fresh baked goodies and other items where top notch! The overall service and friendliness of the staff was also exceptional. A great place to stay on a budget while in Cork! I'd definately return.
