“The young woman who I checked in with was wonderful. I made my reservation the day before and had not stayed at this facility before and asked for a downstairs room because I had fractured my ankle a few months prior and had surgery. Valley Drive, located near the Utah-Arizona state line in Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park, is a 17-mile scenic loop through one of the most iconic landscapes in the Southwest, USA. This spot along the road is named John Ford Point, after the director who used it as a location for numerous Western films. Visitors can pay a few dollars to a local horse owner who is stationed in the parking lot to recreate the famous image of a horse rider perched on the edge of the plateau. This horse was aptly named “Pistol”.
