The Ojibwe name for the river is Wemitigoj-Sibi. The early French explorers gave the river the name la Rivière des Français. The park does have sites but they can only be accessed by canoe.

The property and cottage was welcoming, clean and well maintained. We arrived to find the drive entrance and walkways plowed and cleared of snow. We had a great stay with friends.
