Albinen: (1300 metres above sea level). The village, situated on a south-facing slope, definitely enjoys the longest daily sunshine in the already sun-kissed region. Albinen is included in the "Inventory of sites of national importance worthy of protection", as it has been able to preserve its character as a typical Valais mountain village.Albinen has a well-stocked village shop, restaurants, a football pitch and children's playground, as well as plenty of sunshine and peace and quiet.From here you have a wonderful starting point for hikes from short to long, from easy to challenging, and in winter for snow sports (including 53 kilometres of pistes from 1411 to 2610 metres above sea level), cross-country skiing, fun parks, winter hiking, etc.Leukerbad is only 7 kilometres away, so it's a stone's throw to the thermal baths and other shopping facilities. Many other attractions and sights await you in the valley, e.g. swimming in Lac Geronde near Sierre, the underground lake near St.Leonard, the small towns of Sierre, Sion, Visp and Brig with their sometimes quite southern flair. The access road to Albinen is well-maintained and can also be reached by post bus from Leuk (Susten) railway station. As everywhere in the mountains, your vehicle should be suitably equipped in the winter months.It is about 60 metres on foot from the public car park to the flat.
