Some lake places feel like a lot of rules. This one feels like a deep exhale.
Granite Cabin sits on a private stretch of Granite Lake shoreline just outside Annandale — a classic Minnesota lake community about 65 miles west of Minneapolis. The moment you pull in off the wooded driveway and catch your first glimpse of the water, the week’s noise starts to fade.
The cabin itself is full of character: knotty pine walls and ceilings, a decorative stone fireplace that anchors the living room, an open-concept kitchen and dining area, and a sunroom wrapped in windows with nothing but lake as far as you can see. It’s a three-bedroom layout with room to spread out — a queen bedroom with a peaceful view, a bunk room the kids will claim immediately, and a cabin bedroom upstairs with yellow walls and soft light filtering off the water.
Outside, a private dock extends out over the water — ready for swimming, fishing, or just sitting with a cup of coffee and watching the morning come in. There’s a fire pit ringed with Adirondack chairs for evenings that don’t want to end, and a public boat launch just minutes away if you’re trailering a boat.
Annandale is a real small town — a bakery, a hardware store, a few good restaurants, and people who wave. It’s the kind of place you might wander into for morning pastries and end up staying an hour. The surrounding Wright County lakes region is built for slow weekends: fishing, paddling, pontoon rides, and long meals with no particular timeline.
Minneapolis and St. Paul are about an hour away when you need them — but honestly, you won’t.

Nice cabin with plenty of space! Outdoor space was wonderful, nice and flat and so close to the water.Watch out for the nuts that like to fall off the trees though, could easily roll an ankle on one of those. Hosts were quick to respond. Nice kayaks available with life jackets. Plenty of wood provided for a nice fire next to the lake. Personally not a fan of Adirondack chairs, but there's were actually comfortable. Only drawback is the shower door, does not close easily and did not want to use too much force for fear of breaking it, so we just put a few towels out to soak up any water that may have escaped the shower. All in all it was a wonderful and beautiful place to stay!
