Our 3 generation family thoroughly enjoyed our ski weekend and enjoyed our stay here. The "house" is spacious and unique and filled with antiques plus it is a convenient drive to Belleayre Ski Center. The kids enjoyed playing upstairs and most of the adults hung out in the kitchen during the evenings. The beds were comfortable and we were able to maintain the heat in a comfortable range for us (upper 60s).

The McBride house is a very interesting and unique place! It is filled to the brim with antique items with fun photo opps, lots of things to do (pool and foosball tables, drum sets, theater and gaming consoles, hot tub, ..) and beautiful dining room and family room. William was a very responsive and gracious host who reached out in advance of the booking and stayed connected throughout our stay.Unfortunately I had to take off a couple of stars, because:1) the VRBO descriptions on bed arrangements were inaccurate. The game room has 1 bed instead of 2, and the theater was listed as a sleeping futon which didn't have any. (The theater futon seems to have been corrected since)2) It can get VERY cold. Of course I need to cut some slacks here because we were there in a subzero weekend - but the whole place felt so cold many of us wore our jackets to the bed in the first night. Especially, the loft remained 5053 degrees throughout our stay, so we couldn't sleep in the room at all.Combined, these two problems made some of us sleep on the couches and on the floor (with sleeping mats they had) - and the latter had pretty bad sleep. If we knew either of these in advance, we would have reconsidered.Also, if you go there: try the Mornings cafe downtown!

This converted church has the most unique setup of any rental we've stayed in, complete with high ceilings, 2 spiral staircases to reach ½ of the rental area including a huge game room with a pool table and other fun activities, as well as a hidden loft with an area that sleeps 3 people. It's antique furnishing are really interesting. The host, William, is responsive,The house is heated with individual electric heating units in each space including the bathrooms, as well as, a pellet stove in the first sitting area. All in all, we enjoyed our 2 night stay. The game-room loft area was really fun, as was the sauna. We recommend this unique home. Guests booking need to be mindful that their family members can traverse the spiral steps to be able to get complete use of the remarkable space.

A Special Place

This "Home" is quite unique, indoor hot tub which the kids loved, as well as the game room upstairs which all enjoyed. A well stocked kitchen and ample bedding for 10 made our weekend Family Reunion stay fantastic. We will look forward to renting again for the next one. Communication from the owner was great!

Everything you need

Great place -- very comfy with a lot of different rooms and amenities. While my wife and I had the run of the whole place, it was way more room than we needed -- place is perfect for a families or couples travelling together. Hot tub, game room (it was so cold we spent a lot of time here!), dining room, living room with pellet stove, "theater room" off the hot tub with a projection white screen, back deck with gas grill. Guests really have a lot of control over the experience depending on what rooms you want to use-- thermostats in every room, electric stoves in most, and the pellet stove in the living room. Proprietor was very solicitous about making sure we had everything we needed and things worked properly. Arkville's a great location -- right off 28, you can shoot down the highway to a lot of different towns with their own amenities and things to do.

Great for family with Teenagers

Very farm/ old fashion decoration which we loved. House is just great for Families that have teenagers. A lot of entertainment in the house and around the neighborhood. Close to Mountain and shops. Kinda upset with the heating but we didn’t mind wearing some extra clothing. Very good communication with the Landlord in every aspect. Will come back and stay again!!

Great stay in an interesting home

William was an excellent host there to help out in anyway and ensuring we had everything we need. The home is such an interesting place and has is much to do in the game room and to see in all of the antiques spread through out the house. The kids especially enjoyed the hot tub and game room. Amazing to stay in an old church from the 1800s we had so much fun!

Awesome!

My friends and I had the best time at the Heavenly Getaway, Mcbride House. Pictures do not do it justice. We enjoyed exploring the house from the antiques to the game room. Plenty of space for all of us. Spotless and comfortable. Sitting outside at the end of our day on the porch looking at the stars was so relaxing. I cannot say enough about the host Bill. He had turned on the ac prior to our arrival so it was nice and cool upon our arrival. And had stocked the freezer with some ice.He so receptive to my numerous questions regarding restaurants, activities, live music etc. He even checked in each day to make sure we had an awesome time and ask if we needed anything, He truly wants his guests to have the best experience, and we did! We hope to come back next year!

Great find and super family friendly

My family of 8 stayed at this location. Everything about it was easy. The accommodations were great and everything was nicely appointed. Bill, who is the owner, is a great guy and made sure everything was ready for our arrival, including a warm and toasty home. We stayed to ski Belleayre and it’s couldn’t have been better with a less than 10 minute ride. Highly recommend if your are staying with a large group.

Wonderful and unique!

We had a lovely time. The location to several very good restaurants and to skiing as perfect. The game room and hot tub kept the kids busy for hours and off of their electronics. Bill is a great host, we highly recommen, and plan to return!!

Birthday ski weekend

Our multi- generational family had a wonderful time at the Heavenly Getaway! It was quirky and full of curiosities and lots of entertainment- pool table, football, air hockey, and a large movie projector! And a hot tub! Large dining room to accommodate all of us for breakfast or dinner! And our host was very communicative and checked in with us each day! A good time was had by all!

Unique to say the least!

This house is so unique and eclectic! The kids had fun exploring all the antique phones and record players as well as finding their way around the house through all the doors and rooms. The game room was a lot of fun. The host was so communicative and friendly! He made sure we were ok and warm the whole time (which we were) I was very impressed. Now, keep in mind that this is Upstate NY. The houses are old and rustic so you need to expect that the pipes take more time to warm up the plumbing may leak a bit. But the showers were great and the drinking water was fabulous. The whole house had a lot going on but it was very very clean. However, I think this house is best matched to preteens and parents. There is very little privacy and the top bed room is up very narrow and steep spiral stairs. The bathrooms are on the bottom floor so getting up in the middle of the night will be tricky for toddler parents and seniors. Just plan for those folks to stay in the 2 room on the first floor. Save the loft for the teens. The house itself is 5 minutes from Skiing and a cute little downtown area.. Enjoy!

Wonderful and Unique Getaway

We were looking for a change of scenery for a family holiday getaway and the McBride house definitely helped us achieve that. Our host was very accommodating and extremely responsive, and we had a fantastic weekend!
