“The staff were so friendly and helpful, we loved the traditional breakfast, they were accommodating to my husband who can’t eat fish. They have a courtesy bus that takes you to Arashiyama which I didn’t know and so glad they suggested. The futons are hard but I got used to them. They also said their onsen is tattoo friendly. But most of the place is in such a spectacular forest it was so pretty in the late autumn I will definitely be going back. ”

It was in a peaceful area and the staff were always on hand to answer any questions and offer refreshments. We had seen a couple of negative reviews for this property prior to staying but our experience was nothing short of exceptional. Looking forward to returning in the future.”

“We loved the staff and hospitality at Momijiya. My husband said it felt like we were staying at our grandma's house. We loved the ryokan experience as well. We really felt we were getting a more intimate Japanese experience. The food really put us Americans out of our comfort zone, but we wouldn't have wanted it any other way. “If you looking for a quiet family oriented place for 1-2 nights outside Kyoto with a Ryokan and privacy. This is the place. Bring lots of games and books, nice walks along the river. It is not a large hotel and it is not easy to get to. But the right circumstances make this a perfect experience. ”

“This was the accommodation we looked most forward to on our Japan trip, and it did not disappoint. It was very beautiful and cozy. Well renovated old traditional house. Spacious living room downstairs and two bedrooms upstairs. There is all you need to cook and wash. We ordered half pension, which is highly recommended. Great local food. The breakfast you cook yourself after a easy to follow instruction. I would love to come back for more than pone night. ”
