  • If you are looking for a place to unwind and rejuvenate yourself this is the place for you. Relax with the whole family at this peaceful lake front cottage. This cozy home is newly renovated and minutes from the Reading Anthracite. This open concept house includes 3 bedrooms: 2 bedrooms on the main floor (each with a full bed), 1 bedroom on the upper level with 2 queen beds, and a pull out queen bed in the living room. Luxurious new bathroom with standing shower & relaxing jacuzzi!

    The space
    Imagine waking up to fresh mountain air, enjoying your cup of coffee on the private deck while looking at the tranquil lake. Whether you are in the mood for a quiet getaway, week-long family vacation, or hitting the trails at the famous Reading Anthracite .... this is the place for you. Come for the local Schuylkill County experience, where you can visit Knoebels, the original Yuengling Brewery, famous riding trails, and many more things to see and do.

    You will be able to follow the stone pathway down to a private fire pit terrace, that has a beautiful view of the lake. Please enjoy a camp fire in the back yard or just sit & relax in the cushioned chairs on the deck. Please be advised if you decide to rent our cottage lake access is NOT permitted. If you like to play games there are cards and board games. You will return home feeling refreshed.

    - Each bed will come made with sheets, comforter, and 2 pillows. The pull out queen bed in the living room has sheets, blankets, and pillows stored in the coffee table.
    - The bathroom has a blue tooth speaker that you can connect.
    - Towels and wash cloths will be provided for you neatly folded and stored in the bathroom for your convenience.
    - Lake access is NOT permitted

    Guest access
    - Entire space plus amenities is included in this rental. Please, make yourself at home.

    - I am here for you during your stay, but our level of interaction is up to you. I'm only a phone call or message away. You will be able to self check - in upon arrival.
    Other things to note
    Please remember that you're staying in a house, not a hotel. Please treat the space with respect. If any problems arise, we will do our best to take action ASAP, but there is no one living on-site 24/7.

    - Beury’s Lake / Moon Lake is a natural spring lake that is frequently filled with water. However, sometimes they open the dam to let water out for precautionary reasons to prevent flooding. We understand that this may be inconvenient but we appreciate your understanding.

    - Located across the street from the house is a garage but once inside you will be welcomed with the beautiful view of Moon Lake!

Very much enjoyed my stay at Beurys Lake. The views from the deck and firepit are wonderful and the cottage has a nice charm about it. Smooth host communication and easy to check in & out. Would stay again if I'm back in the area.

Nice stay, the views are beautiful, the house was clean and adequate. Wifi wasn't worth putting in the password though, couldn't find a router but the TV wouldn't even hold a single channel due to the incredibly weak signal. Only other thing was the bathroom fan was not working, so the shower caused the bathroom door to swell and then the door wouldn't close properly. Not a huge deal, for a two-night stay, but both of these things can easily be addressed/corrected, and I would ask if they were before renting again, especially if staying longer.

This cottage was in a perfect location for our long weekend in Pennsylvania. Our son lives nearby and we always try to find something in a new area near him. We loved the view off the back deck of the lake, and we even used the fire pit one evening.The house was clean and well kept. The owners were very responsive to any questions that arose during our stay.

Great area, quiet with a good view. Nice seating area around the fire pit. Easy to get to, and check in and get in. Clean, lots of room for the 7 of us at the table to eat and play games. We had a fun time. As with any place one stays at overnight, the only downfall is the beds weren't the most comfortable. Otherwise, lots of kitchenware, big sectional and the A/C worked! Would stay again.

Cute home with beautiful view of the lake. Most of the home has been upgraded but there are some very soft spots under the flooring. Also, as previously noted by another review, the lack of a wall or rail on one side of the steps to the upstairs is dangerous. There are no closets nor hooks in bedrooms/bathroom for clothes/towels. No body wash or shampoo (as listed) were provided. No instruction book with details about the air/heater, coffee maker, TV, etc. Generally clean but the bed mattress pad was stained and the deck pillows are left out and dirty. Host does respond very quickly to questions.

Neat and Clean

The place was immaculate and the kitchen is gorgeous. Watching the lake from the deck while sipping coffee was very nice- we even saw a red-headed duck! The kids loved their own suite upstairs complete with their own tv. The couch was more comfortable than my own. The host is very responsive to any questions. I’ve had some that don’t reply- not Brianna- prompt responses from her. I enjoyed taking morning walks and taking in the country views. Also- if you have Walmart plus- they will deliver to this location. A must is Red Shale ride vineyards. Amazing selection and awesome people. Horning’s Country Store is great as well if you are looking for some Amish goods, bulk food, and/or some good sweet treats. And a farmer’s market Kenny Stehr & Sons is great for produce.

Just okay

It was a very quiet community. It was in the middle of nowhere so if you needed to get anything you had to travel a bit to get to a store. The bedrooms on the main level were too hot being as the a/c would not circulate to them. The dryer vent could not be cleaned due to not being able to get to it. Not sure if was ever cleaned out. There was no outside vent for the dryer for airflow witch I believe is not legal. It took 7 hours to wash and dry 3 small loads of laundry and that was with us removing some and drying the clothes outside on the patio furniture. We decided to leave the day before checkout not being able to leave at the time we wanted to due to having to wait for the laundry to get finished. If we did leave at out scheduled time our laundry would have not been dried. It was not the vacation we had hoped for and quite disappointed.

Cozy and Quiet, with a Few Quirks

We stayed for two nights while attending a local event. Overall, the place was bigger and cozier than it appears—clean, quiet, and charming. The driveway easily fit three cars. The main bathroom is modern, the attic bedroom is well-insulated (great for kids), and the deck offers a nice lake view (though there’s no direct lake access). We appreciated having a dishwasher and detergent on hand.Note about the attic bedroom: there is no inward stair rail--which is a safety hazard. Be cautious when negotiating the steps, especially in socks.To note for travelers: The “fully stocked” kitchen lacked basics like cooking oil, and many pots and pans were warped/uneven. The coffee pot was in poor shape, so we heated water in a pot. There are no towel racks in the main bathroom, which made drying towels a challenge for our group of five. The half bath is tight—its toilet is tucked away in a corner, the sink can block the door, and the lock doesn’t offer much privacy. Floors slope noticeably, and the bed frames squeak if you move around. There’s also a salvage yard across the street, but we mostly focused on the back deck. The fees were quite high (over 40% of our total), and while there seems to be a fire pit, it was unclear if the wood was for guests.Despite these quirks, it’s a comfortable spot, and with a few improvements, it could be a real gem.

We enjoyed our stay and the place was very nicely updated, well appointed, and spacious and host was responsive.However, the listing makes no mention of no lake access. It is very misleading and confusing that there are photos of the view of the lake on the posting, yet no indication that guests are not allowed to even walk near the lake because the owner does not pay the lake HOA fees. My young teen daughters were very uncomfortably interrogated and reprimanded by another lake resident when they walked along the road next to the lake - not even attempting to "access" or fish in the lake. The listing should indicate very clearly that guests are not allowed to access or even walking next to the lake. (Or pay the HOAs) We did also find it odd and inconvenient & uncomfortable to have no mattress pads on beds under the sheets - so you could feel the buttons & quilting of the pillowtop mattress when lying on the bed (even the teens said it was not comfortable). The owner did provided some extra blankets for the second of our 2 night stay which we used to remake all of the beds with blankets under sheets in place of mattress pads. Also, there was no lighter or matches or wood for the firepit.Overall very nice property, but my 3 star rating is because of the incredibly awkward and disturbing lake confrontation situation and the hassle and inconvenience having to remake all of the beds after a first uncomfortable night on uncovered mattresses.
