Our family of 8 adults and 4 young children enjoyed our stay in this house immensely. The pool is perfect for young children to swim happily (entire pool is only about 3 feet deep) but also allows adults to cool off and float. The pool being fenced is also very reassuring with small children around. The yard has wonderful shade almost all day, and there's a swing set and slide that were a big hit. We all had plenty of room to hang out, work on meals together, and work on decorations for the wedding we were there to attend. There was a whole closet full of baby/toddler paraphernalia - stroller, crib, pack & play, highchairs, rocking horse and various toys. We also enjoyed the pool table and foosball. One of my pet peeves about large vacation homes is that so often they don't have enough seating for everyone to eat together, but this house had plenty of seated dining for our whole crowd. There was a large shelf full of swim towels, as well as plenty of towels in the baths. We like to sleep cold in the summer, and with ceiling fans in every room, it was very pleasant.
The kitchen could use some restocking of necessary dishes and cutlery, but we managed fine, having brought some cheap disposable serving bowls and plenty of plastic forks and knives. with us. There were plenty of kitchen trash bags, which is very unusual. The window a/c in the game room could use an upgrade to a bigger unit, but that room is easy to cut off from the rest of the house if it's not cool enough for you. We found the room to be fairly cool even with temperatures in the 90s outside.
We hosted a lovely rehearsal dinner for about 35 people in the backyard under the trees. This is one of the very few properties we could find that allowed us to host an event. There was plenty of parking, which helped a lot.
If you're looking for fancy, this house isn't it. Think of it like you would a weekend cabin you visit a few times a year - where cobwebs gather, you never get around to deep cleaning under cabinets, the furniture is well worn and comfy, and there's always a few handprints on the doors and door jams. It's casual, comfortable, with a very appealing 1960's feel, and no worries about spills or having to be careful with things. If you are the fastidious type, you should probably stay somewhere else and be ready to pay much more. For our large country family with young children, it was just about perfect.
