I stayed in Villa Rosa for 10 days with husband and two teenagers and we had a wonderful time. The villa is well equipped and very clean and situated in the small mountain village of San Cassiano. The views over the mountains from the amazing large patio/balcony are stunning and we spent a lot of time here eating and drinking. The large parasols keep the area shaded, if you prefer. There is a bbq out here, so tried that too.
The owner, Ron, was great and provided very detailed directions on how to get to the villa (needed), advice on where to shop and recommendations on what restaurants to try. He even popped around on the second day of our stay to introduce himself and gave us advice on what to see and do during our visit. Overall a great host who was always available on the phone if we had any questions. The private pool in the orchard was great and essential in the hot weather. The restaurant Villa Aurora (10 mins away by car), as recommended by Ron is a ‘must visit’, due to quality of food, service and stunning location.
It is easy to get to Pisa by direct train from Bagni di Lucca. The beautiful town of Lucca is within easy reach by car and I would recommend hiring a bike once there to cycle around the city wall.
Overall, we all thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Villa Rosa. It is a magical place and we would recommend a visit.
