The room was dusty as if the door had been left open and the wind was blowing in the room, the deds were made but seemed as if it was last done weeks ago. Otherwise everything was satisfactory.

Thank you for choosing the Sagebrush Inn for your stay back in October. Yes, the property has been around for a very long time however, we do have several different types of rooms based on which building you have reserved. Some building are older then others so depending on which rooms you book you will get a different experience. We can accommodate all types of travelers from long term weekly rates which are the economy rooms and a lower rate all the they up to our standard/suite rooms. Each building was build at a different time in past 40 plus years so we do have some difference.We appreciate your feedback on the lighting. The worse motel yet. My room wasn’t even cleaned. Toilet plugged. Sheets dirty. Coffee machine had old coffee bag. Horrible mattress.

Unfortunately my stay here was less than desirable. The property is ran down and unkept all around. The room was filthy with stains on the mattress, blinds that were broken and hanging off the wall. An electric plug in heater is all the room had. Dirty stained bath towels. I was checked into an occupied room that gave us both a surprise! I left 2 days early!

A property in need of some TLC
I was in Baker for one night. Not a lot of options, and I really just needed a quiet place to sleep, which it was. And the heater, TV, fridge and microwave all worked. But the room was beat up. The bathroom door didn't close. It was a relatively new, 6-panel pine door that was about 1/16 too wide. 10 minutes with a planer or belt sander and I could have fixed it for them. There was water and mold on the bathroom ceiling. The base moulding was coming off the wall. The weather stripping around the door was torn. You get the picture.

The staff was very courteous and responsive to my needs. Expedia did not tell them I had booked two nights. They came across town to my location and resolved the problem. Great customer service.

When i entered the office the place reked of cat piss when we went up to the room the bed sheets were dirty the comferter had staine on it if the room was non refundable i would not have stayed at that cat piss hole

Shower did not drain. Small bugs in sheets (not bed bugs). Light switches were brown, wiped them with a Clorox wipe. Dated. Office smells like cats

Thank you for choosing the Sagebrush Inn while staying in Baker, MT. I would like to address the concerns you had with your room however, with a anonymous review I had not idea what room to address. Would be very helpful to know what room the drain is slow and not draining. This time of year the Baker area does have an assortment of bugs that come out and play. At this time small gnats are a problem. Again, knowing the room location is key so that I can pass this along to my pets control company. We are a pet friendly motel and keeping up on pet odor is important. We appreciate your feedback and any additional information would be very helpful.

This little Inn was so nice. Cheryl was very pleasant to talk with and very informative about things to do in the area. I loved her little pupper, Willow, and the turtle who always greeted us in the lobby. I would definitely stay here again.

In my 18 years of traveling across the US and staying at all kinds of hotels/motels, Sagebrush Inn is without a doubt the worst hotel room that I've ever stayed the night at. Incredibly dirty and extremely dated. If only I could share photos of the room 136, because words simply cannot explain how disgusting this room was/is.

Old--really old--and it shows
The owner of this hotel is very nice and friendly. The hotel is very old . . . VERY old. And it shows. The good things: nice owner, the room was warm (heater works, don't know about AC because it was February!), television worked very well with a number of cable channels, fridge and microwave in the room, room was passably clean (keep in mind it's very OLD, so "clean" is relative). The not-so-good things: it's REALLY OLD, which means, pretty rundown. The bed was lumpy. There were stains on the comforter, which kind of grossed me out but I told myself it had probably been washed and these were just stains that wouldn't come out. Still . . . Trim was either ripped off or not completed around some doors. There was a wooden frame around the fluorescent light over the bathroom sink that was undoubtedly intended to contain plexiglass, but the plexiglass was missing. There was a place a smoke detector was supposed to be installed on the ceiling, but there was no smoke detector. We stayed here because we had our little 6-pound dog with us and the only other desirable hotel in Baker, MT is not pet friendly. My advice would be either stay at the other hotel if you can, or stay in Miles City (but that's an hour away). If all you need is a bed--any bed--and a bathroom for the night, this place will do just fine. But nice? Ummm . . . no.

This is a junky hotel. Electric outlets don't work. The heater didn't work. The toilet broke. The electric heater they gave us blew out the surge protector. I advise people not to good there.

Only if it’s your last choice
Stains on carpets, beds, walls. There were even dirty sock under the A/C. I asked for a new room the first one was so bad. 2nd room was a little better. I would have cancelled and went somewhere else but there was a no cancelation policy. I will not stay there again.

We did arrive before check in time, and the staff (we were told) hurried to get our room ready. We had reserved a room with a King bed in April, 3 months earlier. We were told it was not available because "someone decided to stay on after their reservation." Is this even valid reason? I have stayed at many many properties over the years, and have never heard this excuse. We would have left at that point, but realized there were no other vacancies within about 30 miles. This is rural Montana, so I am not exaggerating. We ended up in a minuscule room with two double beds. It was dusty. The room was half rug and half vinyl floor. The vinyl appeared to be clean, the rug, who can tell. It was dark brown. The bathroom taps had to be run for about 10 seconds each time to flush the brown water. The tub had no rubber mat or anti slip material on the bottom. Very slippery. The towels were threadbare and tattered. One bed had a cigarette burn in the comforter. My sheets were stained. The air conditioning was provided by a wall unit, which is no big deal, but my husband had to clean the filter because it was visibly dirty. No plastic cups were in the room. We could not wait to check out after our three night stay. Again, we had no options for another place as we were attending a weekend event in a nearby town, and places had been sold out for months. Easily, the worst place I have ever stayed in.

Thank you for your feedback while staying with us! As you are well aware was a crazy week however, that is no excuse for a unclean room. The original reservation was made for a King room in our Standard Section which like I stated at check in a guest did not remove there items and check out as planned (which does happen in the hotel industry often) especially when the area is known for not having rooms I am sorry you felt like it was and excuse but it really as not. We did however, accommodate you with the same type of room just was a queen bed instead of a king which you declined at check in and preferred the less expensive room in my economy section with two beds so that you and your husband would not have to share a bed. The rooms wasn't ready at the time of check in so we rushed (which is never good) to accommodate the early check in. These rooms are not the bread and butter in the motel as they are used for long term travelers mainly working in the oil field As the person who checked you in that day I do apologize. I believe the option provided at check in would have been a better fit. If you ever come back through and would like to experience a better stay please contact me directly. Good for the location and money
This was the midpoint of my road trip. It is a small town and no name brand options. The the bed was comfortable, the room clean, and friendly manager. The room and bathroom were clean, but in need of some upgrades. My only con was the shower. The tub was very slick and could use some slip pads.

Normally, I don't mind an older property; they can be charming. However, this one needs major updating. The room felt and looked dirty: the kickboard was peeling away from the wall, the comforter looked dirty/stained; the toilet ran constantly unless I physically pushed the flapper down. The floor slanted. The only light was from lamps, and one of those didn't work. No aesthetics at all. The bed dipped whenever you sat or laid on it. Plus, there was no 'maid' service after the first night. I didn't expect a full room cleaning, but fresh towels and the removal of garbage is usually standard each night at a motel. And for the money charged, this room was disappointing. I would not stay here again. The people were very nice and allowed me to check in early without paying an extra fee. But their office doesn't open til 8 on weekdays and 9 on weekends. I ended up checking out a day early and needed a receipt for the refund. They did come to the office when I called, but I felt like I was intruding by asking for the receipt. Overall, this wasn't the pleasant stay I was hoping for.

A mixed experience for us. When we arrived, our room key was taped to the office door w/ our name and room number. Inside the envelope we're 2 keys, a room map and our receipt. Never had that happen before and unsure whether it's COVID related or how things are normally run. A pretty basic motel - no frills. Room is big, very clean, had a mini fridge and microwave (thank goodness as brought food from home). On the flip side - smoke alarm was broken as was the wood trim above the bed. As it was broken directly above the pillows and nails were sticking out of the paneling it was a bit off putting. A/C is an older unit that works well. Turned on the heater and it started to smell like burnt popcorn (very burnt...). Thankfully we had extra blankets from home. If you need a dark room to sleep, you'll need to bring a sleeping mask. Planning to leave the keys in the room when we leave as haven't seen anyone in the office to do a "checkout". A good place for a short stay.

What you would expect
This was a typical small town eastern MT motel. You get what you pay for. But the owner was very nice and the room was clean. I was happy with the stay.

There was NOTHING to like about this property! The beds were awful, the carpet was stained everywhere, the shower faucet was broken, burned out light bulb, moldy refrigerator in my initial room (I asked for a new room after discovering that) The decor/fixtures are very outdated, no breakfast and ridiculously over priced!

Thank you for your response regarding your past stay at the \Sagebrush Inn. The refrigerator your are correct needed to be replace which was offered and has been completed thanks to your feedback as well as the missing light bulb. As we moved you to a new room I informed you this was not my best rooms and the floors had stains after housing a very long term stay prior to your arrival. Wanted to help you in everyway possible and apologize that your stay was not up to par. The area provides several cafes for breakfast including other motel options in town. Would like to see you return as we have many other rooms options to provide you reservations in advance are suggested so that the best of rooms can be provided. Thank you for your feedback and hope to see you again. We at the Sagebrush Inn want to provide you with better service.
