“This is a fantastic example of faded glory. It's a brilliant hotel, with great staff and all the facilities I wanted, as well as an excellent location for exploring Dumfries and Galloway. If you're looking for a shiny modern finish that costs the earth then this isn't for you. But if you value service, atmosphere, friendly staff and excellent food I can highly recommend it.”

“While the outside of the building has seen better days the staff were very helpful, there was motorcycle parking I was comfortable with , and the room was spacious and clean. Pub next door did a decent dinner.”

“It’s an old property- if you love quirky you’ll love it. If you want pristine, you won’t. Food was fantastic for dinner and breakfast. Spent time talking to the owners who are fantastic people- including the son as chef. If character and informal brilliance are your thing go. If not don’t. And the views…..”

“Very good. We were there when it was very hot. Provided us with a fan for the room. Had medication that needed refrigeration that they happily looked after. An amazing meal in the restaurant”
