Effortless Modern Mountain Condo Retreat

Beautifully remodeled contemporary 3 bedroom/3 bathroom condo on Sugar Mountain in Banner Elk - sleeps 6-7 comfortably.

This condo features wide plank hardwood floors, stainless steel appliances, granite countertops and comfortable furnishings located in a quiet complex. Whimsical spiral staircase between the 2 floors, not suited for those with mobility issues.

We are just minutes from skiing, hiking trails, wineries, restaurants and grocery stores and will provide a full list for you.

Great condo close to Sugar for a family

We had a great long weekend stay at this property. It is very close to sugar mountain for those who want to ski and communication with the host was superb. It was snowing and slightly icy when we got into town and this property is at the very top of the mountain, so driving up there was a little frightening for those of us not used to driving in the snow/ice. The condo unit itself was perfect for our family of five. It was a little misleading in that even though it’s a bottom unit you arrive at the top of the unit and have to walk down two flights of steps. Not that big of a deal, but the steps were icy And well carrying luggage made it a little tricky. The condo is well laid out with the master and bunk bed room up top (on entrance floor) and 3rd bedroom and kitchen on lower level. Master room got pretty toasty despite lowering thermostat, but heat rises. Kitchen and bathrooms look newly remodeled. Master bath the smallest. Kitchen fairly well stocked, but we didn’t do tons of cooking. Would definitely book this unit again, but if our main objective was to ski, given the traffic of a holiday weekend and the iffy weather the first night, would probably stay in a unit on sugar mountain resort or a condo/house much lower on the mountain in case of bad weather.

A very welcome retreat

As soon as we set foot inside we knew it was just what we needed. Cozy, super comfortable and easy access to skiing. Updated kitchen was amazing and everything we needed was right on hand. Thank you for a great stay!

Mountain Retreat

Wonderful way to disconnect and connect with nature in a beautiful setting! We chose this property due to the proximity to friends in the same complex. The three bedroom/3 bath arrangement worked well for our group. The owner was very communicative throughout the process which was great since this was our first VRBO experience! She also accommodated a need to change dates, and provide a late checkout due to flight time. Things to note include multiple flights of stairs just to the entrance, and tight spiral staircase in the unit. I personally would have loved a table on the porch to enjoy more time outside; and a few amenities upon arrival (water bottles, and a few snacks) since we arrived very late. Otherwise, it was well equipped and made for a nice stay away.

Comfortable condo

We really enjoyed our time at Susans condo. Our family of 5 stayed very comfortably. You enter to two bedrooms and two baths. A spiral staircase takes you a kitchen/living area, another bed/bath and nice deck area. The spiral staircase is steep and would be difficult with elderly or small children. The condo is very well stocked..kitchen (coffee maker & coffee) toaster, crock pot plus all the dishes and cook wear. There is plenty of soap, paper towels and dish washer detergent. The bathrooms are all stocked with plenty of toilet paper, body wash, shampoo/conditioner. We found the beds very comfortable. We really enjoyed the main room with large windows and high ceilings which made it feel very open. The gas fireplace turns on with a remote and we really enjoyed it. We were there for a snow storm and the condo kept very warm and cozy. The outside door way and stair do get icy after the snow. The condo is a short (5 to 10 minute drive) from a very nice Lowes grocery store. We enjoyed skiing sugar mountain and a few restaurants in banner elk (10 minute drive). We loved visiting grandfather mountain and the mile high bridge. We enjoyed exploring nearby downtown Boone and Blowing rock.

Great stay for ski trip

This place is in a great location right down the road from Sugar Mountain ski resort- 10 mins tops. 3 bedrooms were good size- one with a very large king bed. Porch was peaceful for coffee. My only complaint is that the unit is on the bottom and the neighbors upstairs were (what sounded like) training a herd of elephants how to play basketball for hours at night, so that was annoying. Everything else was great and it was a nice family trip to the mountains.

A family winter wonderland

What an amazing trip and the condo was in a great location. It’s about a 12-15 minute drive down the hill and back up to the resort. It’s also about 12-15 mins from some great local eateries and the grocery stores if you’d like to cook at home. If you’re not looking to drive to the resort, there’s a covered/sheltered stop for the shuttle to pick you up and drive you to the resort. It’s located about 100 meters from the condo. The condo owner was very quick to reply to my initial questions and left a detailed instruction list for things like heaters and Wi-Fi access along with restaurant and grocery tips and addresses if needed. Plenty of hot water, great coffee maker and a laundry room just outside the front door. Overall we couldn’t have been more happy with the property and location. It left us with incredible memories and the kids are already planning our return trip. If you stay here you won’t be disappointed.
