Boasting spectacular views of the slopes and Sugar Mountain, this fifth-floor corner condo at SugarTop Resort provides convenient access to hiking and biking trails in the warmer months. Hop in the car and take a short drive to reach neighborhood restaurants and attractions, as well as downtown Banner Elk - a quaint mountain village that's home to more dining options, theaters, and shops.

Large windows invite picturesque mountain views into the condo's living area, which features a wood-burning fireplace and a TV. Step outside to your private balcony to breathe in the fresh mountain air with a refreshing beverage in hand. Prepare home-cooked meals in the kitchen, then dine at the six-person table.

Ample amenities included in your condo are paired with a plethora of resort amenities. Make a splash in the heated indoor pool, take a leisurely soak in one of the two indoor hot tubs, or unwind in the on-site saunas or steam room after a day of outdoor adventure.

During any high peak time, renters have to park in the lower lots and be shuttled up to the top. Guests are allowed to load and unload at the building before parking in the lower lots if they prefer, especially during high peak times and holidays. Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s, Fourth of July, Highland Games, Willy worm festival, Land of Oz. Parking up top is for owners or with approval from Sugar Top Resort. Sugar Top Resort makes these decisions based on the occupancy.

Appeared clean on first entry, but we discovered dirty cups/mugs in the cabinet, trash in the windowsill behind the curtains and mold in the coffee pot. Microwave door handle was broken. Pool and hot tub was closed because they said that the equipment to clean it was broken so it was dirty. Hot water heater was not large enough to provide even one full shower or bath, which is horrible after a long day of skiing. Check in and parking was terrible, there is space near the lobby for about 4 cars then you have to go back down the mountain a little ways to park and catch a shuttle back. Fireplace listed as one of the perks, however there was a sign that said not to use it due to high winds. The sign was a big sticker on the elevator door that looked like it had not been taken off in quite a while, so I’m assuming it’s always there. Also it took about 20 minutes to catch an elevator when we were trying to leave. Overall, we were very disappointed.

Good location, but condo needs some TLC

Overall, our stay here was fine. The building was close to the sights we came to the area to see, offered great views, and was nice and quiet. The staff was also very friendly and helpful. On the downside, the bathrooms really need some updating, with both showers being problematic - in one bathroom the faucet handle in the tub was very difficult to turn off and the water did not drain well, and in the second bathroom the shower head was detached from the wall. Also, the TV situation wasn't ideal - one lacked batteries in the remote, which essentially made it useless, and another was frustratingly unresponsive to its remote. Lastly, there were no games to play in the living room - something our family was looking forward to.

Outdated, poor management

Location was beautiful, but the condo was outdated and smelled like smoke. We got locked out (digital code changed) and had a terrible time with communication with VACASA to remedy the issue.

Views are absolutely top notch, but not really "walkable" to hill.

Unit is dated, but fine (Save a few broken little hardware items). The views are totally glorious! We had one helluva time getting in though. Make sure you get a clear understanding on key to deadlock and what the actual passcode is (versus some other LONG passcode that was provided to us, that didn't work on anything we encountered, and REALLY REALLY messed things up when we - quite understandably - tried to use it on the entry door, at 10 pm). Summation - unit is grand... entry instructions are appalling. THE NIGHT GUY AT THE FRONT DESK THOUGH ("FRANK," I THINK), WAS TRULY OUTSTANDING, THOUGHTFUL AND KIND. HE DESERVES A RAISE AND A PROMOTION. THAT GUY IS CLUTCH.
