Clean home, great size for families to cook and enjoy some R&R. However, property needed some yard maintenance in order to use walking access to lake.

Getaway at the lake

My buddies and I had a great little summer getaway here. We walked down to the dock at the end of the road 1 day and grilled burgers. It was a very fun stay and I would definitely do it again!

The cabin was very cozy and nice. It did not have a direct view of the lake but was a short walk to it. The neighbors were very friendly and so were the chickens. They were fun to be around. Great place to stay and just unplug.

Hidden gen

This cabin was wonderful. It was secluded but close enough to get to all the surrounding waterfalls and Cookeville. We loved it here and the girls loved having their own space in the basement.

Fantastic cabin! Great for family with 3 kids. Super clean and beautifully decorated. Loved the claw foot tub! King bed upstairs was comfy. We roasted hot dogs and smores each night. The arcade games downstairs was a huge hit. We hiked Cummins falls which was about a 30 min drive and then came back and went fishing at the lake. Great time!

Excellent Weekend Getaway

Loved the remote location of this property. Close to many state parks and very close to (right on) center hill lake. The cabin itself was very clean and neat. Loved the porches and the loft. Everything about it was great.

Hiking and waterfalls

The perfect spot for outdoor adventures. Comfortable cabin with a beautiful deck and access to a hugh lake. We saw 5 waterfalls in 3 days , hiked miles of challenging trails . Do not forget to go to Cookeville, excellent restaurants and fun shops. No lines , no crowds , no screaming kids, just an awesome time at Serenity Cabin.

Amazing getaway

Perfect stay for the weekend. It’s a beautiful property located to some amazing Tennessee areas. We went to Nashville (80 minutes away) and the city of Cookeville (25 min), hiked Burgess Falls. It was an amazing time! The cabin was cozy with a claw foot tub, dvds, and games - perfect way to disconnect from the world and connect with each other!

Perfect For Us but Needs Some Attention

This Vrbo was good for our family. We enjoyed it greatly and it fit our needs for this trip. Positives - neighbors are fun, the price is good, it’s near the lake (although we couldn’t use it due to the weather). Negatives - it needs a good deep clean (dishes were dirty, hasn’t been dusted, cobwebs, etc), several lights wouldn’t turn on, shower downstairs sprays a good bit, the yard needs some work, and be prepared for lots of chickens.

Misleading

6 adults.. 2 childern in a one bedroom essentially. We booked this rental because of the three-bedroom listing. Sadly we arrived we noticed it was upstairs loft and a a single bedroom downstairs. We mainly booked because of the three-bedroom. There are 3 bedrooms. Besides the misleading listing and the unkempt yard it was beautiful.

We enjoyed the remote log cabin. It was a challenge finding the driveway in the dark and we had to make a scary turn around when we missed it. The kitchen had all we needed for preparing meals and cleaning dishes. The king bed in the upstairs loft was comfortable but short on privacy. The bathrooms were clean and tidy but small. The only shower is in the basement, but the tub on the main floor was quaint. The upstairs air conditioner had a loud fan, but kept the place at a comfortable temp. We enjoyed the decks and view of free range chickens running around the property. The neighbors dogs barked at us a bit and there was a friendly cat. Grateful for the hosts providing coffee for the Keurig.

Needing a break

Overall it was a great place for a get away and to shut off the electronic world. Enjoy all the birds and creatures and the views. I personally had a bit of a stress melt down on the road and actual driveway but got use it . My other half enjoyed it and actually relaxed and that was worth everything. A good time was had by everyone and many day trips of interest all where within handy distance. If I could make one recommendation my daughter and I are heavier set possibly installing a grib bar for stability stepping out of the shower. Oh and the start of the summer season maybe maintenance on the Ac heads abit loud. But overall a great time. Enjoyed the Chickens, Kitties and Pups and definitely the farm fresh eggs . Thank you

Peaceful escape, the center of adventure

We rented this cabin because it offered a peaceful place to kick back and relax after adventuring into nature. Overall, we enjoyed our stay. We shared some information with the owners regarding the cleanliness of the space and I am hopeful her cleaners will fix their shortcomings. The important things (bedding and restrooms) were clean, the nooks and cranies needed some attention, however. The washcloths were adorable, but out of stock with no alternative in the lower two restrooms. I would recommend giving renters access to a few extra towels/ linens. The trail to the beach was slippery and ROUGH! The wash up from the lake had the space covered in branches and trash, with no space to actually enjoy the water. If you want water access I recommend just driving down to the "beach" or go chasing waterfalls! Neither were negatives, but might be helpful for others to know that the roads into the property are bumpy and gravel and the neighbors are super close! Make sure you pause and enjoy the sounds of nature on the 3 levels of decking and all the stars!

Beautiful, secluded cabin.

This cabin is lovely. Very clean. The outdoor space (both the firepit and the multiple decks) were great places to hang out. We ate all of our meals on the deck when we weren't eating out. There are some great places to eat and good shopping in Cookeville. There are lots of state parks and waterfalls in the area. One day we did a kayak excursion with "Canoe the Caney". That was fun! Another day we rented our own kayaks at Cookeville Boat Dock and kayaked to Fancher Falls. Another day we hiked to Burgess Falls in Burgess Falls State Park and Twin Falls in Rock Island State Park. There were others but we just ran out if time. Back to the cabin. It was well-stocked with all of your kitchen needs. One tip, the little things laying around in various places that look like mints...they are actually wash towelettes. We wondered why there were no bath clothes or dish clothes in the kitchen to wash dishes. The king bed in the loft was super comfortable. We slept very well, which was awesome after hiking or kayaking all day. However, the bed in the downstairs room was not comfortable. It might be OK for kids, but for my son and daughter-in-law, it was not comfortable. They might want to look at upgrading the mattress, or possibly adding a topper. Overall, it was a great vacation, though.

Beautiful cabin, but could have been cleaner

This is a beautiful property inside with many quaint and thoughtful details, but . . . the cleanliness of some of the rooms left a lot to be desired. The basement bathroom is the only bathroom with a true shower and the tub/shower did not really appear to be clean and step to get into the shower was mildewy and dusty. (and would strongly recommend adding a grab bar to the shower - it is a tricky step down with wet feet). There were other areas in the house that were clearly not cleaned - coffee bar area upstairs is an amazing touch, but creamer drips all over and sticky coffee mugs. The table and chairs on the deck had to be wiped down thoroughly before use and the grill was too dirty to use. There was only one towel placed on each bed and no hand towels in any of the 3 bathrooms. The water-activated washcloths were cute, but not very functional - more like a wet paper towel. Some warning on the rough entry road and a number placed on the house would have significantly helped with the check in process. The kitchen was a bit lean on some items - only 2 knives and no wine glasses. We washed everything prior to use. We did not experience any of the pest issues that were noted in other reviews. We were a bit concerned with the close proximity to the neighbors, but we didn't hear them at all during the time we were there. In all, we enjoyed the home and would stay there again, but would be prepared for some of the cleanliness issues.
