Enjoy a relaxing stay in the historic border town of Berwick-upon-Tweed at this elegant suite, The Morning Room, a beautifully presented second-floor retreat set within easy reach of the town’s Elizabethan walls, riverside walks and Northumberland’s spectacular coastline. This Grade II listed Georgian townhouse dates back to the period when it served as a merchant’s residence. Ideal for couples or solo travellers, it’s perfectly placed for exploring Berwick’s galleries, cafés and independent shops, while also offering easy access to nearby coastal villages, castles and sandy beaches stretching along the Northumberland coast.
Inside, the apartment offers a calm and comfortable space designed for unwinding after days of exploration. With a bright bedroom, tasteful furnishings and modern amenities throughout, The Morning Room provides a peaceful base for discovering this historic corner of Northumberland.
THE PROPERTY BREAKDOWN
The property is arranged on the second floor.
Ground Floor:
As you enter The Merchant’s, you are welcomed into the parlour, a relaxed and inviting entrance space. It’s also a comfortable area to unwind, settle into a chair, or browse the selection of books available for guests to read during your stay.
First Floor:
Bedroom / Sleeping Area – Carpet flooring, seating for 2, super king bed, TV, bedside tables with lamps, mirror, slippers, and built in wardrobe.
En-Suite Shower Room – Shower, WC, storage and wash basin.
Please note that no electrical appliances, such as air fryers, fridges, or any other cooking equipment are not permitted to be plugged in or used in this room under any circumstances due to fire safety risks.
Instead, we encourage you to enjoy the excellent restaurants, pubs, and takeaway options that Berwick has to offer.
The property is sustainably heated using renewable energy, including a biomass boiler and solar panels. Please note, the property has stairs only, with no lift due to the building’s historic layout, and does not have air conditioning.
This property is designed as an adult-only retreat and cannot accommodate children or pets. While there is no on-site parking, public parking is available nearby. We provide a parking disc for your convenience; please refer to local council signage for specific timing restrictions.
