The reverse-level layout of this beautiful barn conversion maximises wonderful views across the rolling North Devon countryside; on entering via external stone steps, you''ll find yourself in the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. Bursting with charm and character, this endlessly social space invites tired travellers to unwind, plan tomorrow''s adventure inspired by the beautiful views and rustle up something delicious with fabulous local produce. Head downstairs to wash off a day on the trails in the shower room before retiring to the soothing ambience of the idyllic king-size bedroom. From sunrise to sunset, the courtyard is a haven of tranquillity; dine alfresco with a glass of something chilled before stargazing in the clear dark skies. Four-legged friends can be exercised in the separate paddock on the grounds, and you can help to feed and pet the owners'' alpacas by arrangement.

The countryside village of West Ashridge is just 2 miles from the charming harbour town of Bideford; walk its historic quayside to be rewarded with award-winning local ice cream from the seasonal van at the entrance of Victoria Park. Occupying a disused railway line, join the Tarka Trail (2.5 miles) on foot or two wheels to enjoy some breathtaking scenery following the estuary to the sandy stretch of Instow, 5.5 miles away. Grab a bite from Instow''s deli before jumping aboard the seasonal passenger ferry to the picture-postcard fishing village of Appledore (5.5 miles) to discover its quaint narrow streets. The gloriously golden sands of Westward Ho!, perfect for keen surfers, can be reached within 5 miles.
