The staff was great! I was actually excited to stay in this room and for $161/night I thought it would be awesome! They are remodeling the hotel which is fine but I feel like they should state that with third party sites since the room #28 was being prepared for paint. That being said here are my pros and cons.
Pros:
Friendly Staff.
Large room.
Nice tub.
Nice fire (low on flame but still puts out heat).
Clean comfortable bed.
Cons:
Spackling on many patches of the walls (as if they are preparing to paint).
Many chipped/cracked wall corners and pictures missing just leaving the nails exposed.
Non working lights.
Old shower with mold at the base.
No peep hole, no outside light or window to see out if someone knocks.
TV remote needed batteries.
Flooring uneven and dipped in places.
Was not the same room the pictures portry on the Expedia website.
Pool is green and spa is clean but surrounding area is uninviting and old.
Front door has paint tape and was in the middle of being prepped for paint.
Overall for the price I was bummed. I've stayed many places in Big Bear and for this price I feel the room should have at least been painted.
I can't comment on the breakfast as I was woken by the staff because the electricity went out in half the building and the breakers were in my rooms bathroom. I was just ready to leave and take a loss as I didn't feel it was worth $950 for 5 nights.
