The check-in process at Sleepy Forest Cottages was extremely easy, and the staff were very friendly, which made for a positive start to our stay. This was my first time visiting Big Bear and staying in a cottage, and overall the experience was enjoyable and memorable. The location is convenient, with most attractions and activities within about a mile, which made getting around very easy. That said, there were a few drawbacks that stood out. Upon arrival, we noticed a bullet hole in the door, which was unexpected and concerning, as it is something I have never encountered before. Additionally, while reviews mentioned that the property had been renovated, the paintwork appeared poorly done in several areas, with visible scuffing and damage that made the space feel unfinished. Unfortunately, the bed was also quite uncomfortable, which affected the quality of our sleep. We did consider relocating to another property but ultimately decided to stay for the two nights. While the cottage has potential to be much better with some improvements, the stay price we paid was reasonable for the location.

We had a very enjoyable stay at Sleepy Forest Cottages. Check-in officially starts at 5pm, which is quite late—especially when traveling a long distance, and this time of year it’s already dark by then. Fortunately, we received a text that our cottage was ready at 2:30pm. Had we known sooner, we would have headed up earlier. The property itself is quiet and clean, with convenient parking right by the cottage. The room is on the smaller side but still offered plenty of space for two people. The gas fireplace was a cozy touch, though it’s set on a maximum 30-minute timer and makes a noticeable countdown clicking sound, so we had to get up frequently to keep it going. The king bed was comfortable, and the separate bathroom featured a walk-in shower with two shower heads. The highlight was definitely the large jacuzzi tub for two—very relaxing and a perfect way to unwind. The smart TV mounted above the fireplace swivels so you can watch comfortably from the bed or the jacuzzi. The location is excellent, with restaurants and shops within walking distance and The Village just a short drive away. Grizzly Manor Café around the corner was fantastic for breakfast. Saucy Mama’s in The Village is also highly recommended—our pastrami pizza was unique and delicious. The lake is just down the street with a nice park, and we even spotted a few resident raccoons exploring the area in search of snacks. Overall, we had a wonderful stay at a very reasonable rate. We would definitely return.

I liked that the place was clean and close to a lot of walking areas. What I had trouble with was the fireplace smell was a little too strong. However, in the morning I didn't smell it at all. So overall, it was not a problem.

Las cabañas están muy bonitas y muy tranquilas, me gustaron mucho, lo único que pudiera sugerir es un poco más de mantenimiento ya que son muy antiguas y ahí varios aspectos que se pudieran mejorar para tener una mejor estancia, pero si las recomiendo si lo que quieren es estar tranquilos , relajados y sin mucho lujo.

Not like in the pictures at all. Dull and small rooms, quite cramped. Took us a day to adjust to the heater on the wall as it made a sound and heated the room unevenly OK if just visiting big bear and have a lot of activities planned and not having to spend time in the room

Big Bear was a lovely place to visit but it was let down by our experience with Sleepy Hollow Cottages. The process for registering was to fill in an online form after which the property sends the code for entry, email etc. By the day before, the email with the link had not arrived. I phoned the property but couldn’t get through, just an answerphone. Then had to email via internet AND Expedia. The person I dealt with could not find the booking reference. Eventually sent me a message with the link, which did not work, so I had to enter three lines of letters and numbers manually. Only to discover that the website still did not recognise the booking. Eventually I was given the relevant codes manually and we got into the property okay but the process was very stressful. The property was okay and floors, bedding and the like were clean but windows etc really needed a deep clean. The interior of the property was showing definite signs of age lumps missing from the bath surface for example Everything did work though. Shame really as with a bit of TLC this could be a great venue.

We rented a standard queen bed cabin. It was much better when it was remodeled or new. The cabin was really old and worn out. Mattess was sagging, window screens falling, windows would not stay open, shower heads were tricky snd hard to adjust.... water pressure in the shower was low and there was no vdnting fan. The jet tub was good and area outside had a shared bbq box nearby. Overall, a solid good but not great.

The room was charming, with a nice hot tub. The decor was dated but the room was overall decent, with the exception of the overhead fan. the fan was loud with a variety of tones, noises and shaking. Yes, we could have turned it off but it was hot (even with the windows open) and there was no a/c in the room so my wife an I did not get much sleep. Parking was tight, I have a larger truck and found it easiest to back down the entire driveway to my parking spot so I would be able to exit more easily. Lastly, the staff communicates via text message and everything is contactless which is ok except that it would have been nice to be able to speak with someone more readily available.

The tile floor in the bathroom was completely broken and a rug was just thrown over it. The water temperature in the shower was off in two shower heads. The decor was old and dated, the mattress was hard. I would not stay there again. The staff was the best part of the experience as she was very nice.

Wonderful customer service. Cottages very clean, complimentary coffee. Refrigerator, microwave. Beautiful fireplace. Will definitely be back. Lights outside when it’s dark. Picnic table bbq area. I love it. Very cozy, welcoming. Me and my husband really enjoyed our stay. We will definitely be back.

Overall good stay. I did notice some ants coming in from one of the sink locations but it’s not an issue. You’re out in the wilderness so it’s to be expected that you might see some insects here and there. Overall really enjoyed the stay.

Wow I don't like leaving bad reviews I feel that most bad reviews are vindictive. This place is cute and quiet but here comes the issues. The bed is like sleeping on a cement slab. Nothing comforting about it. We arrived late and everything was closed I almost felt like sleeping in my car the bed was that uncomfortable. I paid for a two night stay but ended up going to another establishment with better beds. Now let's talk about the bugs. The front door has a 1/4 inch gap at the bottom of the door sill that allows any creepy crawling spiders or bug into your cabin. Pull the sheets back on my concrete slab and seen a couple of bugs tucked in the corner. Not a bug expert cannot confirm or deny if it was a bed bug. Could have been a Forrest bug for all I know. The bathroom floor tiles are loose. If you are looking for that outdoor experience but being indoors this is the place for you. On the plus side I will give you a 1 star rating because your showers and the water pressure and how hot the water gets will sanitize your body after laying on that slab. If I can give you any feedback. Change the mattresses and box spring and seal the place up. And I'm sure you will have better reviews. You made money off me and I don't even care. Use that money for some improvements. Wish you guys the best. I will never use this place again.
